CHAPTER FOUR.

Samantha could not deny that she was mesmerized by the grandeur of the Kane mansion and for moment it distracted her from her current misery. Her house was nothing compared to the architectural beauty before her. The men led her inside the house, one held her firmly with his grip so tight that she thought it might leave a bruise while the others carried her possessions. Her heart raced they passed the dim lit hall, the portraits on the wall held weird art works that she felt dated back to the 19th century.

The men released her when they got to what looked like the living room. Now left alone her eyes wandered around the room , it was too big and the design seemed ancient perhaps it was because she was more familiar with her home. Samantha's heart sank when she remembered home, fresh tears fell from her eyes as she recalled how she was dragged out of her own home like a fugitive while Olivia sneered and mocked, her own father forced her into a life she did not choose. It was a betrayal that cut so deep.

" How could I have been so stupid to think he could just change of overnight". She wondered.

A maid cleared her throat interfering with her thoughts. She turned and was surprised to find an elderly lady together with some younger girls about her age or younger, their faces were blank. Different thoughts ran through her mind, she took a step back just in case. The elderly woman smiled softly and bowed ,the other ladies copied her posture.

" Good evening Lady Samantha. You are welcome to the Kane Mansion". They chorused.

" La... La...dy Samantha?". She looked surprised.

The woman only smiled again in response.

" Please, let's take us to your room".

As if rehearsed, the younger ladies formed to straight files providing space in the middle for them to walk through, she hesitated before the following behind the elderly woman.

Samantha's mouth dropped when she entered the room. It was magnificent, the walls were painted sea green which complimented the white furnitures in the room. The laced curtains hanging on the windows , the chandelier that hung above the king sized bed which cast rainbow reflections on the marble floor only made the room more exquisite. Her new room was a thousand times better that Olivia's.

The elderly woman noticed her astonishment.

" My Lady"

" Lady". She muttered, it wasn't something she was used to.

" Do you like your room?". She asked.

" Ye...yes...". She paused.

" Mary". The elderly woman replied.

" I love it , Mrs Mary". Samantha stated.

" Just Mary, my lady". The woman bowed again, causing the light to reflect in her slightly grey hair.

Samantha felt it was weird , the maids left after they finished arranging her things. She carefully sat down at the bed. Despite the extravagance and beauty of the room, it didn't change the fact that this was her new prison.

The sun cast a golden glow through the curtains. Samantha stirred , she had slept off , she glanced at the clock, it was already 7.

" How could she had slept off".

She carefully walked towards the dressing table opposite the bed, she examined her face in the mirror, the tears had long dried up and had left a mark, she tried to wipe it off but it only ruined her make up further. A knock on the door startled her .

" Lady Samantha, it is time for dinner". A maid called from the other side.

It was Mary. Samantha didn't respond. She has lost her appetite and would rather starve that eat a meal prepared by her captors. The door opened revealing the elderly woman .

" My Lady". She bowed." It's time for dinner ".

Samantha shook her head. " I am not hungry ". Her voice was hoarse.

" You must, master Kane is waiting at the dinner hall". Mary insisted.

" I do not want to eat, just leave me alone". Samantha repeated and sat in the front of the mirror.

" It's unwise to keep master Kane waiting". She adviced.

" I do not want to eat and I am not interested and meeting your master".

Mary raised her head and stared at her directly in the face.

" He is your husband".

" No he is not. He is a monster who takes girls from their homes".

Mary's demeanour shifted, her eyes darkened. She walked towards the young girl and struck her hard on the face.

" You will not speak of the master in such manner, you ungrateful spoilt brat". She spat.

Samantha's face shot up, her expression a mixture of surprise and confusion, her cheek stung as in response to the impact, her hands trembling as she touched her lips she was sure that there was blood ." What the hell just happened ". Her brain was in an utter state of confusion.

" Now, the other maids will come and get you dressed". Her demeanour suddenly calm again. " Then you will join the master for dinner". She finalized and left the room.

As the maids dressed her, Samantha struggled to fight tears, the make up and jewelries only covered up the bruise but not her broken soul. This was toture all over again.

The dinning room was as grand as every part of the house. The room was designed with mural paintings on the walls, the long dinning table was adorned with flowers neatly arranged in the flower vases. The light from the chandeliers cast a reflection on the perfectly arranged silver plated plates and cutleries.

Her heart skipped a bit when she noticed Marcel Kane sited at the head of the table. He was breathtaking, his dark wavy hair shone under the light and his well chiseled jaws that moved slightly as he chewed. Samantha thought her heart would explode when he glanced at her direction . His grey eyes looked like they could see through her soul.

" Good evening". Samantha struggled to speak. He exuded dominance.

He ignored her and continued eating.

" Good even.."

Marcel dropped his cutleries noisily and slammed his fists causing Samantha to flinch.

" Are you going to bore me with pleasantries or will you sit and eat!". His voice echoed through the walls of the room.
