STANDING ON FIONA'S PORCH, THE gentle breeze playfully caresses my face. Just as I'm about to raise my hand to knock, the door swings open, and there she is – Fiona in all her radiant glory. She's mesmerizing, her emerald dress shimmering in the soft glow of the streetlights. Without her glasses, she's like a living, breathing Tinkerbell, exuding a delicate charm that's impossible to ignore.

Her usually wild mane is now tamed into an elegant French braid, accentuating her striking cheekbones and petite jawline.

"You look beautiful," I blurt out, unable to contain my admiration. My voice comes out huskier than intended.

Her gaze travels up and down my suit, and her eyes crinkle with amusement, as if she's trying to hold back a laugh. "You clean up pretty well yourself," she shoots back.

"But you're late, mister," she says.

I fight the urge to run my fingers through my hair. Instead, I stroke my chin thoughtfully, desperately searching for a plausible excuse. No way could I tell

AS THE NIGHT GOES ON, THE OTHER girls join in with stories of how much they admire me, turning our small talk into a full-blown episode of "Secret Admirers." My discomfort skyrockets as one of the girls drops a bombshell on me – she wants to touch my hair. "I just gotta know if it's real," she says, her eyes shining with curiosity. Against my better judgment, I give in, and the feeling of her fingers running through my hair sends a shiver down my spine. "Holy smokes, it's real!" she exclaims, sounding as surprised as if she'd stumbled upon a mythical city hidden within my hair. "I thought you had dyed your hair platinum," she says. I shake my head, assuring her, "It's natural." Another girl jumps in, her gaze shifting between me and Fiona, who's making her way toward us with a drink in hand. "So, what's the deal with Fiona?" she inquires, her curiosity hanging in the air. "We're not a thing, just hanging out," I blurt out, desperate to extinguish any sparks of gossip before they tu

MY BRAIN SCREAMS AT ME TO SLAM the brakes on this love train, that this sudden attraction might not be the real deal. After all, it's entirely possible that my vampiric senses are heightened to the peak, thus, clouding my judgment with lust. Just as I'm about to open my mouth and express these concerns, Jaja pounces on me like a feral cat. BAM! My back collides with the wall, the impact reverberating through my body like a shockwave. Her legs wrap around my waist, holding me in place like an affectionate boa constrictor, while her hands grasp my face with a surprising strength. Our lips meet once again, and despite the warning bells clanging in my head, I find myself powerless to resist the magnetic pull between us. As if by magic, we find ourselves in a room with dim lights. BAM! Jaja flips me onto a plush couch with ease. She straddles me, her delicate fanny pressing against my rock-hard boner. Her touch is like the caress of an ice fairy, sending shivers dancing down my spine.

WITH A SURGE OF ADRENALINE, I MANAGED TO break free from Angel's iron grip. I was on the verge of making my grand escape, ready to zoom down the stairs in a lightning-fast blur, when – BAM! Angel's fist collided with my face, sending me tumbling down the stairs like a rag doll. I hit the first floor with a bone-rattling thud, the wind knocked out of me, my vision swimming with little birdies. Just as I was about to slip into the sweet embrace of unconsciousness, Kylian, and his band of buffoons arrived at the scene. “Thanks, Angel,” Kylian said, gratitude oozing from his voice like slime from a slug. “I'm grateful.” I almost choked on my spit when Angel, my temporary arch-nemesis, suddenly transformed into my unexpected savior. He stood between Kylian and me, like a human shield, his stance as protective as a mother grizzly bear defending her cubs.“What is the meaning of this?” Kylian demanded, his voice ringing through the air like a toddler's tantrum in a quiet library. I couldn

I THROW MY HANDS UP IN DEFEAT, acknowledging my true nature as if I’m a clumsy waiter carelessly spilling a tray of drinks. “Alright, you got me,” I confess with a sheepish grin, my fangs gleaming in the dim light. “I'm a vampire, okay? But trust me, bud, Jaja's not the appetizer you're looking for.” Angel's eyes widen, his own fangs glinting in anticipation like a child stepping into a candy store for the first time. “Is that so?” he growls, eying Jaja like she's a Thanksgiving turkey, fully-cooked and ready to be devoured. “Hold it!” I exclaim, trying to stall the inevitable as I mentally scramble for a solution. “I'll tell you everything you want to know about being a vampire, I promise.” Angel snorts, his voice as rough as sandpaper scraping against a cheese grater. “You can't even handle seven measly humans, and you expect me to believe you can teach me the ropes of being a vampire?” With that, he trails his tongue over Jaja's neck, leaving behind a glistening trail reminiscent

MAMA’S FACE POPS INTO MY HEAD EVERY night, like a late-night TV show, just as I’m about to drift off. I see her smile, all soft and gentle like a moonbeam, and her eyes, full of love, like a mug of steaming hot chocolate. But then, the memories come flooding back, and bam! It’s time for another guilt-marathon. That day started like any other. Mama – bless her soul – was facing down two monsters, Alzheimer's and cancer. Her skin was as pale as a ghost, and her once-lively hair clung to her head like soldiers in a war. But her eyes, man. They still had that spark, like she knew something the rest of us didn’t. “Can you come with me to the store?” Mama asked in a voice as delicate as a butterfly’s wing. There I was, hooked on my game, fingers moving over the controller like a piano virtuoso on energy drinks. My buddies egged me on through the headset, and I was this close to the taste of sweet, sweet victory. “Mama, can you hang on a sec? I'm in the middle of something,” I s

DAYS TURNED INTO WEEKS IN THE BLINK of an eye, but guilt clung to me, following me everywhere I went. I was a far cry from who I used to be. My bedroom became my refuge, and I'd lie on my soft mattress for hours, staring at the dimpled ceiling, replaying the events of that horrible day. Dad attempted to pull me out of this dark pit, but I pushed him away. His love and forgiveness seemed undeserved, like a wilted rose on my pillow. After all, I was the reason Mom had left, and nothing could erase that truth. I started spiraling down a dark path, ignoring school, my friends, and everything that once mattered. Some "brilliant" minds told me drinking would take the edge off. With despair, I took their advice and soon found myself drowning in the escape alcohol provided. My days were now filled with booze and bad choices, my life a predictable movie plot, the one where the good kid loses their way. School felt like a distant echo. The whispers and looks of pity made it impossible to fo

PEERING INTO ANGEL'S EYES, IT WAS LIKE looking into a sad, deflated birthday balloon of his soul. And boy, was he in a pickle! “Listen, pal,” he said, desperation leaking from every pore, “I need your help! This whole vampire thing is ruining my life and I wanna be the boss of it, not the other way around. I’m sick of being a fanged horror story.” I gave him the old once-over, feeling sympathy for this guy, all twisted up inside. He saw himself as a total monster, leaving chaos in his wake like a clumsy bull in a china shop. He thought he was cursed to leave bloody fang marks everywhere he went. Talk about a recipe for guilt! “I hear you,” I said with a sigh, feeling his pain down to my toes. “You’re carrying a ton of baggage and the past is hanging onto you like a leech on a swimmer. But, you know what they say—even the darkest night has to split when the sun comes up. There’s always hope, even for the vampire who lost his way.” I patted his shoulder, all friendly-like. “You h

CHLOE WAS STRETCHED OUT ON THE HOSPITAL bed, staring at her phone like it was her ticket to a candy paradise. She was hooked on Candy Crush, with the bright colors and shapes practically exploding right in front of her face. Meanwhile, Scarlett was chilling in a chair, scrolling away on her phone and diving deep into the wild world of social media. As Scarlett checked out her newsfeed, a whole lot of birthday love was being sent to Jaja, who was pretty much the social queen at school. There were tons of pictures from Jaja's awesome birthday bash, showing all the fun and laughs going on far away from their super quiet hospital room. Scarlett and I took in every single photo, practically tasting the excitement and feeling the good vibes. It was almost like we could hear the laughter, feel the warm hugs, and smell the yummy birthday cake — we felt like we were right there with Jaja and her friends. But no, here we were, stuck in the most boring place on Earth — a hospital room. As Sc

I'M SITTING IN MY DESK, HALFWAY through a physics lesson, when I feel a light tap on my shoulder. I twist around to see a beautiful girl, her features as delicate as a porcelain doll's. She's got captivating emerald eyes, framed by impossibly long, dark lashes, and a button nose that suits her heart-shaped face perfectly. Her golden locks cascade over her shoulders like a silken waterfall. Her soft pink lips part slightly as she leans in, a hint of rose-scented perfume teasing my senses. In a hushed, musical voice, she whispers, "I'm sorry to disturb you, but your girlfriend wanted me to give you this note." Her voice is so low I have to strain to catch every word, but her crystal-clear tone reminds me of a tinkling bell. My brows crease in confusion at the mention of a girlfriend. As far as I know, I don't have one! But I set aside that mystery for now and nod a silent thanks to the girl, turning my attention back to the droning teacher. WHEN I AWOKE, AN EERIE SILENCE filled the room. I cautiously surveyed my surroundings, taking in the horrific scene before me. Agatha's lifeless body sprawled across the floor, and DeAndre lay nearby, his heart torn from his chest. Ignoring the grotesque dead vampires and Werewolves, I rushed to the ornate window where Cassius would often gaze out. My heart sank as I took in the sight of hundreds of lifeless bodies scattered across the grounds. Tears stung my eyes, and I fell to my knees, sobbing at the realization that my master lay among them. "No!" I cried, unwilling to accept the truth before me. Desperate for a closer look, I bolted for the front door, only to find myself teleported back to the living room. Confused and distraught, I tried every possible exit—doors, windows, any opening I could find—but each attempt only brought me back to the same spot. Defeated and devastated, I slumped to the floor, my cries echoing through the mansion. Suddenly, a cold hand grasped my l

His laughter rings with a manic edge, and before I can process his erratic behavior, he backhands me across the face. The force of the blow nearly knocks me off my stool, and I growl through clenched teeth, my pain and anger burning in my eyes. "I'm sorry," he apologizes hastily, seeing the rage in my expression. But my desperation for a cure made me hold onto hope, even when there seemed to be none." Vivaldi's eyes bore into mine, demanding answers. "No more secrets, right?
