CHAPTER 4

“You still have to tell me why I should pack my bags and follow you, Alpha Armand. Are you arresting me, or am I getting beheaded for what I did? There has to be a reason because I can't blindly follow you” Mavi insisted.

She didn't know where she got the guts from or why she was acting stubborn toward the alpha of the pack but she had started already and she couldn't be on the losing end. Not to a man who looked down on her just because she was an orphan or from the lower class.

Alpha Armand watched her silently for a while and when he saw the glare in her eyes, he knew she wouldn't follow him unless he explained what was happening to her.

That made him chuckle to himself because ever since he became alpha, everyone said yes to whatever he said. Mavi was the first person to question his order and that amazed him. No wonder she was shadow-kissed with him because maybe she was the only one in the pack who had the audacity.

“Are you acting oblivious or do you want me to say it out loud for you?” Alpha Armand asked her and when she didn't blink or look confused, he figured that she had that weird moment too.

Where it felt like she had possessed his body but at the same time, had no control over it.

“You had those dreams, didn't you? Where it felt like you could see through my eyes and hear my voice as I speak?” he went further to ask her and he smiled when she gasped in response.

She definitely had that moment and there was no way she would be able to deny it. So he walked closer to her and placed his lips beside her ear.

“Now that you know the reason, quietly walk inside, get your things and follow me if you want this done the peaceful way… Mavi Darwin” he warned her and she took a step back to look him in the eyes.

“I'm not going with you all alone. I don't trust what is happening right now” She still objected to following him and Alpha Armand was at the edge of losing his temper this time.

Mavi was pushing him and he was trying to be patient because he was pissed as it is while it seemed like she enjoyed stepping on his toes for absolutely no reason.

Enzo quickly pulled Alpha Armand aside once he saw he was losing his temper and Draven, who also tagged along, took it upon himself to speak to Mavi instead.

“Hello, Mavi. I'm Draven, the Alpha's consultant on anything beyond physical understanding or solution. I'm a warlock” he introduced himself and Mavi gave him a lingering look just to know if he was trustworthy enough from his look and she relaxed when he smiled at her.

He seemed more friendly compared to the proud alpha.

“So I overheard you telling the Alpha that you won't follow him because you don't trust him. Why is that?” He went on to ask her and she shrugged while the wind blew her hair and made it get in her face.

“We never got along from the start. He obviously doesn't like me so why should I blindly do as he says and endanger myself? What would be foolish… don't you think?” she finished her answer with a question and Draven chuckled.

He could tell immediately that she was a very smart one with a smart mouth and alpha Armand didn't like people like her. Knowing they were shadow-kissed was going to spell a lot of trouble because they would never get along.

“You're making sense but he's the Alpha and you have to obey him. Also, he's taking you to the palace to help you. I'm going to lend a hand too in this matter because I have a huge role to play” he replied and Mavi frowned because she was confused.

The wind blew again and her hair was all over her face once again so she pushed it back and while she was busy tying it up this time, her eyes shifted to Alpha Armand and she froze when she caught him watching her.

She quickly looked back at Draven who was smiling at her so warmly and she returned the gesture in an attempt to act like she didn't just catch the Alpha watching her for no reason.

“What do you mean though? What role do you have to play?” she asked him and he pointed at her first before the Alpha and he turned back to her.

“It's about the weird moments you both had yesterday. That's what happens when you're shadow-kissed with someone” he told her but she still looked confused so he decided to make her understand.

Once he succeeded in making her see why she was needed at the palace desperately, Mavi realized that this was actually for her own good because she didn't want to be connected to such an obnoxious alpha for no reason.

“Okay then. I'll come to the palace so the bond can be broken but I have a condition and it must be met or I'm going nowhere” She told Draven and Enzo joined them at that moment.

He looked at Mavi as she confidently spoke to avoid having a condition to be met and he wanted to laugh at how naive she was. The Alpha could choose to not meet her condition and still take her to the palace as he wished.

Just because he was going easy on her didn't mean she could disrespect him. Especially when she was just a low class werewolf.

“What is this condition of yours, Mavi? Tell us” Enzo urged her and she looked back at her friends who had been fearfully watching everything before she turned back to Enzo and Draven and smiled.

“I'll come with you only if my friends can come too. I need them around me at all times” She said and Enzo shared a look with Draven while Alpha Armand joined them too and locked eyed with Mavi.

“That wouldn't be a problem,” he said and Mavi smiled.

Who ever knew she would be moving into the pack's palace one day?
