CHAPTER 2

Still feeling confused and shocked about what just happened, alpha Armand remained in the same spot. He kept on staring at the window Mavi went through while his guards remained behind him, waiting for his next instruction on what to do.

He couldn't figure it out, he didn't even know why but he felt like he knew Mavi right from the moment their eyes met after seeing her walk out of his closet while he was going into his room. He felt like he had met her before.

she had spiked his curiosity and now, he found himself wanting to know more about her.

As he stood in that same spot, with the thought of Mavi running through his mind nonstop, about why she was his mate when she was just a lower class, why she thought she had the right to reject him as her mate too and how she dared to sneak into his room, he heard footsteps behind him and he knew it was his beta, Enzo immediately.

"What happened here? Why did you call for the guards so quickly?" Enzo asked him and he turned around to face his best friend.

"A girl snuck into the palace and I failed to get her" Alpha Armand replied and Enzo looked surprised to hear that.

"A girl snuck into the palace and wasn't caught? That has never happened before" he voiced his surprise and that made alpha Armand sigh.

Enzo dismissed the guards that were still in the room and they all took their bow before they left the room then he turned back to alpha Armand and he noticed the alpha was deep in thought. He wondered what he could possibly be thinking about.

"Is anything wrong? if it's about the girl that snuck into the palace, I can have her get caught for you. I'm sure you want to know why she snuck into your room" he said and alpha Armand shook his head. That wasn't what he wanted even though he was very curious about Mavi.

He didn't want to have her locked up even though she snuck into his room, it suddenly felt unfair for him to do that to her and it made him feel uneasy.

He had a girlfriend. He wasn't supposed to be thinking about a girl he just met like this but he couldn't help it.

"No, Enzo. you don't have to do that" he quickly told his beta and best friend to stop him from arresting Mavi and Enzo gave him a look.

"Then what are you thinking about? you look like your mind is elsewhere" he told him and alpha Arman snickered to himself.

He went toward his bed to sit and he stepped on something. Looking down, he saw it was Mavi's phone that she forgot to take while running away and that brought a smirk to his face as he picked the phone up and turned it on.

On the screen was a picture of Mavi. She had her eyes closed with her lips in a pout and she looked cute to him.

Enzo decided to take a peek to see what got his alpha smiling like that and he was surprised to see it wasn't a picture of Valerie, his girlfriend.

He couldn't even recognize the girl in the picture and it was weird to see his best friend smiling at a picture of another female unknown to him. He immediately knew something else was up and he had to find out.

"Is she the one who snuck into your room?" he asked just to be sure and alpha Armand nodded while sitting on his bed so Enzo joined him and he waited for him to narrate everything that happened.

"I know this may sound crazy, Enzo. It's about the girl who snuck into my room. I know you'll say that she may be a suspect or spy but I feel like I've met Mavi before. She just seemed too familiar to me right from the moment I saw her and what is even crazier is that she was also my mate but I'm glad I rejected her before she was able to escape. I'm not breaking up with Valerie no matter what," alpha Armand said and it took a moment for Enzo to digest all that he just said to him.

"This is the first time an upper class is having a lower class as a mate and then it had to be you? Now I understand why she seems interesting to you" he said to alpha Armand and his alpha nodded in agreement. That was exactly what he thought too and he didn't know why that happened.

"So her name is Mavi uh?" Enzo asked amusedly and that made alpha Armand grin. He knew Enzo was just teasing him and he was also in a good mood so it was working.

"Yeah. I found out while she was still here and I also needed her name to reject her. Anyway, I want you to find out more about her. Her name is Mavi Darwin, she said she's an orphan so she's a lower class. I'm sure it'll be a piece of cake for you to get her information for me" he said to Enzo and his best friend's amused look changed to a suspicious one.

"Alpha Armand, do you like Mavi Darwin?" he asked and alpha Armand froze for a few seconds. He never expected Enzo to ask him that.

He had a girlfriend whom he had been dating for two years so there was no way he would suddenly start liking a girl he just met minutes ago just because she was his mate.

"Of course not. Why would I like her? I rejected her as my mate, remember?" He immediately went defensive and Enzo held up his hands in surrender.

"Fine then, because Valerie would have your head if she finds out you're thinking about another girl," his best friend told him and alpha Armand frowned.

"What are you talking about? Valerie is too sweet to do that" he fired and Enzo smiled on seeing his reaction.

"Glad you defended her. Cause that shows you still like her" Enzo replied.

"Who likes who? Are you guys having your secret gathering without me?" Valerie's voice filtered into the room before she walked in and Enzo quickly stood up from the bed to leave the room.

"Of course not darling, I was just reminding Enzo of how much I like you" alpha Armand replied and she blushed while making her way to him and then she sat on his thighs.

"Really darling? Well, I like you too… a lot" she replied before kissing him on the lips and that made Enzo roll his eyes. Seeing the two of them act all lovey-dovey all the time just made him cringe. He didn't like being a witness.

"I'll take my leave then, alpha Armand and I'll start working on what you asked for.'' he told him and the alpha nodded before watching his best friend walk out of the room.

Then it was just him and his girlfriend and he knew she was definitely going to spend the night with him but he didn't mind it at all. He didn't want to keep on thinking about Mavi and Valerie was a perfect distraction.

He was running. He didn't know why he was running but he didn't want to stop either. It felt like his lungs were about to burst through his ribs but he didn't want to stop running.

Suddenly, he found himself jumping over the palace fence and he had never felt more confused over what was happening.

Then he saw three girls approach him once he landed and all he did was stand and stare powerlessly while trying to catch his breath and one of them spoke.

"Mavi! We're so glad you made it out safely. Fine, you won the dare and you are getting the prize because you went through enough risks and almost got arrested by the alpha." one of the girls said and he tried to speak to tell her that he wasn't Mavi but he couldn't.

It didn't feel like he owned his body any longer. It was like he was possessed by someone else and the thought of that was scary. He began to panic while he stood there helplessly. He wanted to yell out for help, tell them to leave him alone, and then return to the palace but he couldn't. He didn't have any control over this body of his.

"So tell me Mavi, what was the alpha like? Was he very handsome or not?" one of the girls, in a pair of glasses and frizzy hair asked and he looked at her.

Why did they keep on calling him Mavi when he wasn't her? there was no way their identities could be mistaken so why in the goddess's name did they keep on calling him Mavi when he was their alpha? It was very weird.

Suddenly, he spoke, but he didn't recognize the voice to be his. Instead, he sounded more like Mavi, and that freaked him out.

"The alpha was very handsome, but he was a real piece of shit. I wanted to hit him so bad but I couldn't because that would be a death sentence for me" he found himself saying and that was when he knew he had had it. He desperately wanted to get out of that situation.

"Alpha Armand! Alpha Armand! I'm right here with you" he heard Valerie's panicked voice as he finally regained himself and recognized his room immediately he opened his eyes. He realized that what just happened was a dream that felt too real to be just a dream.

His hands were shaky, his head was spinning while he was trying to get a grasp of what just happened and when he looked at Valerie, she looked very scared.

He wondered what exactly happened when he felt like he was dreaming… actually, he felt like he was Mavi. Like he could see through her eyes and know where she was because he recognized the voice of her frizzy-haired friend. She was the one who called her name on the phone when he caught her.

How on earth was that possible? He couldn't wrap his head around it.

"What happened to me?" he asked Valerie and she hugged him first for a while before letting him go. He could see how worried she was from the look she gave him.

"I don't understand what happened but you were sleeping and then you suddenly began to groan and grab your hair in your sleep. It looked like you were in pain but couldn't wake up. I was so scared for you" she explained and he sighed.

He knew this was no ordinary dream. There had to be a reason for it and there was only one way to know what it meant and why he had the dream the same night that he met Mavi for the first time.

He had to see the palace warlock immediately to understand what was happening because he didn't want what just happened to happen again. it felt too real and it made him feel like he was losing his mind.

Checking the time, he saw it was 3:00 a.m. but he didn't care. he had to see the warlock at once,

So he got down from the bed while Valerie watched him and she caught his wrist when he was about to walk out of the room.

"Are you okay? what happened and where are you going?" She asked many questions at once and he smiled at her to lessen her worry.

"Don't worry too much, love. I just have to get something resolved urgently but I'm fine and I'll be back soon" he told her but she didn't let his hand go.

"Should I wait for you then?" she asked and he shook his head. He didn't think she needed to do that. He didn't know when he would be back and he didn't want to keep her up all night.

"You don't have to, darling. Just go back to bed, I promise I'll be back soon" he replied and she nodded.

Then he kissed her on the forehead before he walked out, intent on knowing what the hell that weird dream meant.
