ALLISON’S POV
As I stood before my Dad and Stepmom, my heart raced with anticipation. “ I’m moving out,” I announced. My voice was firm and I felt a sense of resolve wash over me. From my peripheral vision, I could see my stepmom’s eyes widen in shock. “ What do you mean you’re moving out?” She exclaimed loudly, her voice was laced with a mix of surprise and annoyance. “ Exactly what I said, I’m leaving.” I shrugged, clearly ignoring her. My stepmom’s face turned red, and she started to ramble, “ But why? You can’t just…..” “ Oh please! Save it okay.” I cut her off, cause my patience was wearing thin. “ We both know you’re happy I’m leaving.” My dad scowled, his expression turned disapproving. “ Allison, don’t speak to your mom that way.” His words ignited a spark of anger within me. “ She’s not my mom,” I spat, my voice turned venomous. “ To think you have the audacity to say that when we both know you cheated on my actual mom.” My Dad’s eyes blazed with fury. “ Allison, that’s enough. You’ll respect your stepmother regardless of her being your biological mother or not!” I remained resolute, my heart began pounding in a steady rhythm. “ I’m moving out for good. Not for school, neither for some temporary thing. I’m getting married.” I deadpanned, with my arms folded across my chest. The room fell silent, and they both exchanged shocked and confused glances. My Dad’s face turned red, and he spluttered, “ What kind of silly tantrum is this? What do you mean you’re getting married out of the blue?” I kept my voice calm, trying to convey a sense of certainty. “ It’s not a tantrum. I’ve made up my mind.” My Dad slammed his fist on the table. “ You will return to your room right this minute and forget about this nonsense!” A sense of unyielding resistance rose up inside me. I shook my head in defiance. “ No.” My Dad’s face turned red with rage. “ You will return to your room right this instant and forget about this nonsense, Allison!” But, I refused to back down. “ It’s okay for Mia to complain unnecessarily for no valid reason whatsoever, and you don’t call that a tantrum.” I said, my voice steady. “ But when it comes to me, it’s suddenly a tantrum?” My Dad’s expression turned ugly. “ I’m not about to have this conversation, neither am I gonna argue with you, Allison.” I smiled, but it was tinged with a deep-seated anger. “ You should be glad I’m leaving. After all, that’s what you’ve always wanted, right?” My Dad’s face twisted in anger, “ Allison!” and he raised his hand to hit me, I flinched, preparing for the impact. But before his hand could make contact with my face, a firm voice yelled out from behind him. The loud voice cut through the air, making my Dad freeze. “ Mr Genovese, STOP!” My Dad slowly turned around, his eyes widened in shock as he took in the sight of Ryan West standing in the doorway. A nervous and confused look crossed my Dad’s face, and I could almost see the wheels turning in his head as he struggled to process the sudden arrival of the wealthiest and most influential man in the world. My Dad’s hands dropped to his sides, and my stepmom hastily smoothed out her dress, trying to compose herself. My Dad, still looking shaken, forced out a nervous laugh and said, “ Mr West, what brings you here?” Ryan’s expression was inscrutable as he walked towards my dad, his hands were tucked into his pockets. “ I could ask you the same thing, Mr Genovese,” His voice sounded low and even. “ What were you just trying to do?” My Dad’s eyes darted back and forth, and he cleared his throat before speaking. “ Oh nothing, Mr West. My daughter was just being stubborn. And I was trying to….ah….put her right in check.” Ryan’s gaze narrowed, his eyes never leaving my Dad’s face. “ I see.” He said, his voice dripping with skepticism. “ And does that usually involve raising your hand on her?” My Dad’s face turned bright red as he took a step back, his eyes darted to me and then back at Ryan. “ I…I was just trying to discipline her, Mr West.” He stammered. Ryan’s expression turned cold, and his voice icy. “ Discipline her? By hitting her? I think not, Mr Genovese.” My Stepmom stepped forward and intervened, a sugary, sweet smile on her face. “ Mr West, please, let’s not make a scene. It’s just a family matter.” But Ryan wasn’t having it. He turned to my Stepmom, his eyes flashed with anger. “ A family matter? You call hitting a child a family matter? I call it abuse, Mrs Genovese.” The room fell silent, the only sound one could hear was the heavy breathing of my Dad and Stepmom. I felt a surge of gratitude towards Ryan for standing up for me, also for seeing the truth and calling it out. Ryan’s eyes narrowed, and his voice turned firm. “ By the way, who gave you the right to raise your hand to my wife?” My Dad and Stepmom stared up at him, with confusion etched on their faces. My Dad’s eyes darted back and forth before he asked. “ Uh, Mr West, what do you mean?” Ryan cleared his throat, a sly smile appeared on his face. “ I don’t think we’ve properly met, I’m the man your daughter’s getting married to, Mr Genovese. And I believe you don’t have a problem with it.” My stepmom let out a nervous laugh, her eyes darted to me before she said, “ Um, Mr. West, are you sure it’s Allison here you want to get married to? I mean it could be the second one. My daughter Mia….” I stared at my Stepmom in disgust, my mind raced with the thought that even after her daughter snatched my boyfriend from me, she still wanted her to get married to Ryan. Ryan turned to my mom, his eyes glinting with amusement. “ Aren’t you tired of being a homewrecker, Mrs Genovese? Well, I guess it runs in the family, your family.” My Stepmom’s face turned red with rage, but she couldn’t say anything, not wanting to anger Ryan any further. Ryan then turned back to my parents, his expression turned stern. “ From now henceforth, Allison’s no longer a member of this family. You have no right whatsoever to talk to her or to see her either. Unless she wants to see you, of course. And she no longer bears this family name. From now onwards, she’s Mrs. West. So I suggest you all give her the due respect she deserves.” My Dad let out a nervous laugh, his eyes darted to me before he said. “ It’s not like I’m against it, Mr. West. But don’t you think she’s a bit young? She’s just twenty-one and still in school….” Ryan cut him off, his voice turned firm. “ But you don’t have any problem with your younger daughter getting married, do you? So why is it a problem now?” My Dad turned quiet at Ryan’s questions, and tried avoiding Ryan’s intimidating stare. Ryan’s eyes glinted with amusement. “ From what I’ve seen and noticed, Allison seems more intelligent, more mature and more financially savvy than your younger daughter. And yet, you gave her away in marriage without a second thought. Why do you have a problem with Allison getting married?” My heart raced with joy and excitement at Ryan’s words. Even though I didn’t have any ounce of feeling for him, still I was grateful for his support, and at this point I’d do anything to go far away from my parents. Ryan turned to his butler, who stood by the door. “ Get Allison’s things to the car, please.” The butler nodded and stepped out of the living room with my luggage in his hands. Ryan turned to me, with a small smile on his face. “ Shall we, my dear?” I nodded, feeling a sense of victory wash over me. I flipped my hair over my shoulder with a victorious smile on my face as I turned to my parents. “ I might be leaving for good, Dad. But, I’ll make sure to take back Mom’s company, even if it’s the last thing I do.” With that, I turned and walked out of the house, with Ryan by my side.ALLISON’S POVI laid on the plush bed, with my phone held lazily in one hand as I played Candy Crush. It had been two weeks since I moved out of my parent’s house and into Ryan’s mansion. It was a whirlwind of a change, but I had to admit, I was loving every minute of it.Most days, I’d wake up early, get dressed, and head to college from Ryan’s house. But some days, like today, I’d decide to stay home and study. Ryan’s mansion was a peaceful oasis, and I found myself getting more work done here than I ever did at home. But despite the peace and quiet, I couldn’t shake the feeling that Ryan was always watching me. He’d often appear in the doorway of my room, a small smile on his face as he’d ask me what I was up to. It was a little unnerving, but at the same time, it made me feel safe and protected. My phone buzzed, disrupting my game. Ryan’s name flashed across the screen. I raised an eyebrow, wondering what he wanted now. I sighed and answered. “ What?” Ryan chuck
ALLISON I walked into Sapphire Lounge, a famous and expensive bar in New York. The colorful flickering lights and the girls in skimpy clothes dancing seductively, when was the last time I came to a bar? “ Hey! When you said we’re going clubbing, I thought you meant a regular club,” my best friend, Cathy tugged on my gown. “ I thought you said we were going to have fun with me tonight. Are you having second thoughts now?” I frowned, slightly disappointed. “ I might even snag myself a man for the night,” I laughed eccentrically. “ That’s obviously not it and you want to have a fling? Anyway, my problem here is how are we supposed to afford anything here?” She pointed at the expensive lounge we had entered. “ We’re college students,” she reminded me. “ Have you forgotten that I’m from a wealthy family?” I turned around to look at her. “ How can I not remember? That’s even how we were able to get in to begin with,” she folded her arms. “ I plan
ALLISON My eyes fluttered open as the blinding rays of light slipped through the windows. Was it morning already? I sat up. “ I feel terrible yet not terrible,” I muttered as I held my head in pain. I was having a hangover from last… My eyes widened as the word last night rang in my head. I tried to recount everything that happened after I went drinking with Cathy and the embarrassing clip of me forcefully kissing a stranger came to mind. “ You’re pretty active for someone with a hangover,” an oddly familiar voice said. I looked up and saw the same stranger I had kissed back at the bar. “ W-what are you doing here?” I stuttered, my voice raised. “ Are you stalking me?!” I pulled the bed sheet to cover me better. Wait… I looked under the bedsheet and I was… “ Seems your memories from last night have finally come back,” he chuckled, finding my embarrassment and shock amusing. “ You really are not in any way aware of your surroundings for you to th
