No One Will Know

Roxanne's POV

I woke up and yawned deeply. I don't understand why, but this seemed to be the best sleep I've ever had in years. I rubbed my eyes and gently opened them, only to find myself in a room I could barely recognize because it was dead dark. 

What is this place? 

The moon was the only light that shone in the room, which was bright and full. I decided to roll off the bed when I suddenly felt cold to the bones. Why am I so cold, like I wasn't putting on anything?  

I slowly took my hand to my chest, only to realize that I wasn't truly putting on clothes.  

Immediately, I let out a shocked gasp. Not only that, I also felt a little tingling sensation down there, like it had been bruised. 

Just then, I heard a groan coming from someone who seemed to be beside me, and this startled the shit out of me. My heart skipped when I noticed the silhouette of a man beside me. He had broad shoulders that seemed to fill the bed and a sword tattoo crossed in the middle of his back.

What have I done? Wait a minute, it can't be that I actually had sex with a total stranger!

Immediately, I jumped out of the bed at the speed of light. 

“Roxanna, what exactly have you done?!”

 I scolded myself in whispers as I made my way out of bed with every little clothing I could find on the floor. 

I managed to tip toe towards the room door. Since the moon shone brightly into the room, I could tell where the door was. I quickly put on my clothes right there and then before turning the door knob, which opened immediately. Good thing a lock wasn't used on the door. 

I quickly found my way out of the room after I opened the door and just as I had thought, it was a hotel. 

Shit! I tried to recall what happened last night, but my memories were too hazy as of the moment.

I don't even know who the hell I slept with. What if it was a drug lord or probably a criminal? The thought alone made me hasten my steps back home.

I arrived home at about 4:am. Good thing everyone is still asleep. No one will know I didn't sleep home. I managed to get into the house through the back door, which I know wasn't always locked. Just as I was about to tiptoe towards the stairs through the living room, I suddenly heard the clearing of a throat, which made me pause. 

“Where were you last night?”

The cold voice of my stepmom instantly made cold shivers run down my spine at that moment. I slowly turned around to face her. 

“Uhm…I…"

“There's no point rebelling if that's what you're aiming at. You're going to marry Klaus and that's final. Prepare yourself for the event this evening, he'll be there.”

This further dampened my spirit. Why was she still talking about getting me married to Klaus? At that moment, tears stung in my eyes again, but I quickly dabbed the corners of my eyes and walked away to my room. 

 Just as I arrived in my room, my phone suddenly buzzed in my purse. Who was calling me so early? I quickly took it out to see who it was and to my greatest surprise, it was Clair. 

“My goodness, Roxy, why didn't you pick your calls last night? I came over to the club and couldn't find you there. Do you know how worried you got me?”

“I'm sorry, Clair, I just…" I trailed off, not knowing what to say. Though Clair was my friend, I definitely can't tell her about what happened to me.

“What? Did something happen last night?”

“Yes, I mean no… I… "

“Roxy, there's something wrong, isn't it?”

Instantly, tears ran down my cheeks. 

“I…I had s*x last night, Clair,” I blurted out and burst into tears. 

“What?!” Clair exclaimed in shock. 

“Wait a minute, Roxy, who is this guy we are talking about? Klaus?”

“No, I…I don't know him. He's a stranger,” I muttered, tears running down my cheeks. 

“Did you see his face?”

“I-I don't know. I was too drunk and can't remember anything…"

“Oh my God! Roxy, you gave your first to a stranger when you're about to get married?” 

“What should I do, Clair, I'm so confused and helpless?" I sobbed badly. 

“Hey… don't beat yourself too much. Besides, Klaus has no idea you were a virgin before now. If he asks, you could tell him that you had a boyfriend. Besides, in this day and age, who cares if a lady is a virgin or not?”

At this moment, I cried even more. I had always dreamed of having my first with my husband, but everything went down the drain in just one night. 

“Roxy, you should stop crying now. No one will know if you don't tell anyone. You should go back to being you. Good thing you didn't see the stranger's face. I'm sure he doesn't care about you. Just let him go and forge ahead with your life.”

“Thank you for your words of encouragement, Clair, I appreciate it.”

“It's alright. I gotta go now, I need to get a little sleep before going to work. Have a goodnight rest, Roxy. I love you.”

“And I love you too, Clair.”

It was understandable, since she was in another town in the United States and had to work two jobs to make ends meet.

After the call had ended, I looked at the time, and it was almost 5:am. 

There's no need to sleep. It's not like I can sleep anyway. The thought of this stranger and my engagement to Klaus will definitely give me insomnia.

I wiped my tears and quickly rushed into the bathroom to have my bath. 

“Roxanna, you have to forget about everything that happened tonight,” I said to myself as I showered. No one will know about what I did tonight. It's a secret I'll carry to my grave.
