The moving photo disappeared and left her speechless.
It was my first time witnessing such a phenomenon.
I took a few steps backward and brainstormed what should I do after what I saw.
"Should i- should i-" I gasped as I grab my hands tight to one.
I thought for a moment. something like this should never be left to only me, I need to tell someone about this. But to who? I left myself staring at the doll for a few minutes. But something told me to take it, as evidence.
I kneeled and picked up the doll. I can feel a chill run down my spine as I place a finger on it. I closed my eyes as I slowly raise it from the ground. I opened my eyes, I can see the doll's eyes staring at me directly. I shook the doll violently and then ran away to the campus gate.
My eyes were closed shut and I was sprinting to the crowd ahead.
I felt my face bump into a back, I opened my eyes and found myself staring at the back of some senior. I walked backward and hugged the doll tight. The senior turn around, and places the attention on me.
It wasn't a senior, but the actual headmaster.
Suprisingly, the headmaster was incredibly young and blends with the surroundings well. And that is a huge problem. I don't know if he is trying to watch the students, or he wants to look at the students eye to eye.
As I pick up those thoughts in my mind, he was staring at me, reading my mind.
That creeped me out since this is the day of the examination and I am sure out of the test. It is also very humiliating since there are other exam attendees around. This would really make me fail the exam, and go home empty-handed.
Yet he smiled.
"On a rush, Miss Jenkins? The exam hasn't started yet." He said while his arms are at his shoulder level stretched out.
His handsome accent was music to my ears.
He has luxurious black hair cut short in his shoulder level, a nice and neatly ironed uniform, and a shiny ID with his name in it.
Blake Wellington
The Headmaster glanced at his watch.
It was nothing special, just a normal watch that my father owned when he was a young lad. Or I didn’t notice the rise of its value since it is antique today.
I watched him turn his back and he gracefully snapped his two fingers. It was a signal for the seniors to open the gate.
The gate to the gymnasium was made of steel, a barricade type of gate.
The gates opened and the headmaster lead the way. The seniors lower their gaze while we moved forward in lines. I was the last one in the two lines of attendees, following the trail of a fellow lass.
I hid the doll in a small sling bag hanging on my left shoulder, trying to steal a glance at my back.
The young girl’s ghost is still there, staring through my soul. I can feel she is angry for stealing the doll, but I have to.
The wind blows and I can feel chills once again. The scary senior might be trying to creep me out again, or…. the ghost girl is here.
The barricade gate was closed behind me, and the thin mist covered the sight of the trees and the young girl’s ghost.
The seniors led us to our perspective seats, one meter away from each other to prevent cheating.
I took a quick glance at everyone before sitting. According to my calculations, we are about one hundred attendees from around the state. Most are from private schools, and some are from public schools.
It took a while for the senior to distribute test papers on the last row, which I was in.
I stared at the test paper. I played with my pen, and astonishingly what I studied was in the test. I can hear the loud scribbles that keep echoing around the gymnasium.
I covered my left ear with my left hand and focused my attention on the test.
Somewhere in the gymnasium, an odd-looking girl is thriving on the exam. Beneath her chair was her own shadow, steady and copies every move.
Was it really a shadow?
The shadow blinks its lifeless eyes and scratches its 2D head. The shadow has a scribbly texture like it was made by someone who is too lazy to color a shadow black.
The shadow grew its size until it reached the other student at the back of the odd-looking girl. It climbed from the student's feet to the student's chest.
STUDENTS POINT OF VIEW
I trembled as I felt a really heavy feeling in my feet. It's like I am having fatigue. Though I thought it was just the feeling of insecurities from the answers I write back on the exam. I think it is just anxiety because I did not study well back then.
But it wasn't.
I bent my body and looked down. A black, shadowy figure with scribbly texture was in my feet, wrapping my feet tight to climb to my upper body. I opened my mouth to scream, but what comes out, was black smoke. Before I could know it, the shadow was inside me, emitting black smoke residue out of my mouth.
I can hear it speak to me.
At first, it sounds like breathing, but as it grew louder, the terrifying it gets. There is only one word that he spoke to me, a word that made me murder.
KILL
I lost consciousness.
My sight grew dark as black smoke covered my eyeballs. And now I am sitting here, blank-faced.
There was a girl in front of me. The smoke wrapped around her neck, and I can't help but just watch instead.
I watch her suffocate as the smoke was wrapped tighter. She closes her eyes, and she fell on a silent dead. As my smoke eyeballs focus on the girl, my ghost eyes, which are about to get out of my body, turn around to see what was they doing.
No one paid attention, even the nearest senior just a meter away... No eyes watched, nor glanced at us. It's like, they want us to die so they will reach the wanted numbers... Is this how education works? Is this in their curriculum?
I turned to the girl. She is dead.
The smoke held her up from her seat. The smoke entered her body and she developed black eyes. I stared at her eyes.
I can see the hunger for blood and flesh on the girl's face. But her ghost, which is about to leave her body, glared at me. She was glaring like she wanted to put a sword into my body.
But it is over for both of us.
we're dead.
The shining light to my future is gone. Just darkness.
I lose my body, my entire personality.
But it's unfair to be just us.
Others deserve it too.
With exasperation and homicidy, I hurled the girl around the gym. The smoke rope grew longer and longer as it enjoys eating out our spirits inside our bodies.
The students were distracted by the exam.
Why can't they just turn around?
Just turn around.
It's very simple.
HELP US.
WE DON'T DESERVE THIS.
Thanks for finishing this chapter!
See you soon!

The girl touched down next to a student in the 8th row. Like the other students, he was busy too, but he'll be one of us soon. The girl touched his shoulders, and after he turned his head, the shadow made his way to his body. A few minutes passed, and he is now one of us. He touched his face, feeling the soot caused by the wet smoke. His foot was raised from the ground as the emitting smoke from his mouth connects to the girls. The smoke intertwined and their heads were twisted. I can see their suffering while their body is slowly covered by soot, their eyes crying out black tears. Their mouths opened and a lot of smoke was let out. Small spheres made of soot flew everywhere, being sniffed in by the stu

Someday in the year 1999The juniors spent their 207th night in their dormitories.A girl dressed as a junior runs through a hallway, screaming and crying for help. She looked behind her and catches a glimpse of a shadowy figure in the corner of the hallway, and it's coming towards her. She screams again and made a left turn to her room. It's the only way to hide from it since it is midnight and everyone seems to be asleep. She runs into her room and locked the door shut. She is breathing heavily as she quickly takes the stock of the situation. She turned to the antique cabinet, she can hide there so the one who is chasing her might let her be.But it turns out it was a huge mistake that took away her life.Hiding in drawers is such a cliche since it was a good spot from hiding from someone. The figure isn't dumb to let her live hiding there. She runs to the drawer, clo
I looked at my fingers; Something wet them with my blood. But it seems like I am okay, internally. I stand up and a knife is in my chest. I grabbed it quickly, threw it away, and stared back at the drawer. An eye was creeping there, glaring at me. Shush, she can hear you. I slowly remove my fingers from my lips and try to stand up. I looked under me. Marks of blood stained the floor. I reached for my bed and collapsed in it. Everything got dark until I closed my heavy eyes. *** Morning came, and I found myself in an unusual place. I can smell the scent of cooking beef and rotten flesh. I rubbed my eyes and saw myself sitting on a bench, along with a crowd of so-called juniors. I was sleeping with my head on a cafeteria table at the time of breakfast hour. "You awake, Miss Jenkins?" said some voice that came from behind my back. I nod.
This was supposed to be a normal first day of school. But this happened. I rethink all of my life's decisions as I felt a sense of guilt down my spine. If I did not act like a madman when it comes to life, I would have been in a simple school, the smartest of them all. But because of my foolish, idiotic mindset, here I am now. I turned my thoughts into an idea to escape or cope with this kind of environment. I gulped. This idea should be right, if this makes me enter the wrong path, I am doomed. My intelligence, when it comes to life decisions, is very low. But I am not saying I am always wrong. I have come up with an idea, that I think is good enough to cope with this situation. "I should escape this place," My own eyebrow frowns. But then it returned to a normal state. "By graduating." It would sound like a silly decision, but it's safer than escaping by climbing the walls of this school. I
"I betcha!" A voice interrupted our ritual of luck. Everyone turned their backs on a pair of seniors carrying papers. There were wearing the school's uniform, a piece of wool cloth hanging in their left shoulders up to their knees. We sat and behaved. I looked around without moving my neck. The Tisiphone's lined up straight facing the senior's way. Marching to the senior's direction, they started murmuring words. And then when they reached 1 foot away from the seniors, they stopped. A red-haired gentleman stood forward and scrambled the piece of papers in his hand. He coughed, and spoke; "Today is the first day of school, and we seniors will introduce the rooms dedicated for the three groups in CLASS 1- FURIES." Another senior continued; "Without further ado, let's start the tour around the school." I patted my skirt and stands up. And then everyone followed, walking toward the Tisiphones and lining up. I brushed my hair as I ste
I moved my head as I run. Everyone seems to run away from each other. And some even have knives with them. The seniors only watched us. They didn't even tell us about the monster and this little game of survival. Murdering your friends in order to move on to the next class period.I saw an alive bush next to a dead sequoia tree. I crawled into the bush and hid inside the bush. I can feel an itchy feeling in my arms. I blinked. A branch, which I rubbed my arm into, has ticks crawling from it to my arms. I shook my arms."Argghh!" I looked around to find another safe spot to hide.A group of dead trees stood some feet away from her. She could cope with the itchiness. She runs to the tree and rolls to the lawn. When she reached the tree's roots, she lays her back on the bark of the tree. She scratches her left arm. A tick falls to the ground as she shook her arms and scratches it continuously. She grunts and glances at her classmates.
The seniors led us to our first class period. They said we'll meet our homeroom teacher there. No one talked about what happened on the way. Neither what happened in the last few days. This troubled my mind. I felt anxious just by imagining what will happen next. But this is just the start of my academic journey. The tip of the iceberg. Our first-class period will take place in the Damien building. A building composed of two floors with five classrooms on each floor. But there is something that made it stand out from the first buildings I saw. The color, and the decorations there. It is a yellow-painted building, freshly painted. Trees around it were alive and it even sprouts magnificent flowers. We entered the hallway of the Damien building. The floor is maroon and plants are standing next to the foundations of the buildings. It is very welcoming, and a good environ
Sophie walked backwards. Jesse heard her footsteps."Where are you going?" She asks.James left them standing there in the middle of the dark. They've been there for minutes, and Sophie's arm numbs as the wind grew colder."How?-" Jesse felt the unusual cold in her arm. She can feel on her feet that this place is underground. Pebbles and twigs were under her shoe. And there is no light around here, so there is no hole nearby."Sophie!" she screams, holding her arm with another arm. Before Sophie could reply, she tripped. A loud thwack on the ground startled Jesse and made her turn around. Sophie groans and pats her butt. She tells Jesse, "We should get going." Sophie turns her head trying to determine where she is. "Where are you?" "At your back," Jesse replies then suddenly grabs her arm. “Here,” Jesse pulls her hand.Sophie rubs her butt and looks around the path. In front of her is great darkness, no light can be seen. She then looks up.“There must be a tree somewhere above us.
Jesse, James, and Sophie were sitting on the floor. "Isn't that painting, a bit suspicious?" Theodore says as he points toward a painting on the other side of the room. "This is too easy." Clement walks to the painting, taps the edges of it, and then takes it off the wall. A hole stood there. The three squinted their eyes. "What's that supposed to be?" Asks Theo, turning to Lily. "I don't know. " She replies, glancing at him. "AHA!" Clement shouted suddenly. He dropped the painting to the ground and went to the door. He pulled a key looking piece of metal from the door's hinges."Is there a keyhole inside the hole?" Lily walks closely. Theodore followed. Clement glances and nods. He stabbed the metal into the hole, made a twisting motion with his hands and pulled the metal out. Their mouths had widen as the "wall" flips open. A huge passageway connects to the room, with a single torch hanging on the turning point of the passage. Jesse placed her hand on the ground when suddenl
She snitched a glance at the figure. It stood still there; the wind making its hair strands fly. She immediately closed her eyes and focused on the path.Seniors…. She thought they were the headmaster’s soldiers…. But they weren’t.What makes this senior warn her? Is it she knew everything or served as an obstacle? If that is so, her disguise won’t work.I raised my feet even higher to increase my pace. Pebbles flew as I run over them. My gaze darkened, my lip locked. Something is going to happen, and it will come soon.I slowed when I saw the group. My run turned into a walk, my arms swinging at my side. Everyone was quiet, walking with spaces against each other. The wind blows at the group isolated with a line of trees. The skies were misty, and you can feel a slight shiver down your spine. My feet stopped when I raised my head. Clouds break up and a ray of sunlight came in.I turned my attention to the grou
Hours earlier Meanwhile, in an unknown location, “Shut your mouth, Anthony,” Dolores split a metal stick into two as her eyes locked at Anthony. Anthony mumbles words while they covered his mouth with an oblong mask that only covers his lips. It has rubber straps that elongated from the mask to his head and under his ears. He still cannot accept that Dolores did this to him. He trusted her. His mouth ran dry as his sweat stopped sliding from his forehead. He can feel his flesh shiver as Dolores touched a button with a red gleaming colour. His eyes had run white when the air got intense, like there was a tornado circling around him. It’s cold. His staff uniform was turned apart, and there was a large hole near his private part. His little one would affect the heat running inside his body. He’ll die with his private frozen. It was a bad idea to trust that man. He firmly closed his eyes as he recalls the time he met the man, the m
Theodore looks at him because of confusion. He can't say anything. Tobiah was out of his mind. The only thing I heard soon after, Was Jesse screaming out of her lungs while trying to get him back to the version we thought will never disappear. Everyone was fighting him, while he shut his mouth looking down while clenching his fists. I did not react to any he said. I just stood still there, next to the president, who is losing their patience with everyone. But I wondered, where was that kid, named Jacob? No one in here announced that he lost. Or maybe he was kicked out. Kicked out. I placed a hand at my face and started rubbing. It’s too early to quarrel for this kind of day. I sighed tiredly. First, I was never fond of arguments. Neither I could win nor lose any of them. Just imagine how well this starts with a simple warning into a war. I was always quiet, uncurious and calm. I could feel in my veins how irritated I was.
A crow squawked while soaring in the sky. Clouds covered the about to rise moon on a chilly evening. The wind swooshed and the crow had fled to a soul monster’s shoulder. Along with him, are the ghosts of the past students in this school. They are enjoying the game they were playing, hide and seek. The crow bent his head to see a female sophomore ghost pull a trapped ghost kid out of a small hole that goes inside the monster. The girl noticed the crow, and then crawled to it. Her eyes were completely black, shaped like a circle. The crow flinched when it noticed a fat black worm visible inside her. It flew into her stomach just before she could reach it. The crow pecked at her stomach. No matter how hard it peck, it just goes through her. The worm cannot be reached with its short beak. The crow squawked angrily as it flies away from the soul monster. Jesse pressed the binoculars at her eyes as she saw a crow soar at the scene she was looking at. Cleme
It was a Tuesday morning, and Lily is pretty late for her Homeroom Class. She feared that Mr Byrne might be raging right now, like what he reacted to the group of Megaera, to which Tommy belonged. Until now, the third week of their stay, they were not yet found.Theodore guessed they died, like what he always says when someone suddenly disappears. No one knew if his guess was right neither wrong. Because no one wanted to find out.She was running a few steps to the room, raising the speed of her pace. She clung the bag with her, containing a piece of paper and the doll. She spent the night making sketches for the so-called “plan” that they hope will work. She was about to take a step inside when her instincts paused her. She can hear Mr Byrne screaming. She peeked on the glass window shaped like a small circle in the centre of the door. Mr Byrne has his mouth wide open while his hands are preparing to turn over the desk before him. The
Inside the classroom of the scholars, Tobiah and Lily sat facing each other discussing something. It is the day after the group study. The sun slowly shifts as the two watches the light disappear and dusk was here."I guess so," Tobiah explained. "You are that kind of person that does not like to lurk around this school."I stared at his face. He was right, I don't like to explore since I knew that danger can be everywhere. Just earlier, I asked if I should accept Theodore's consent, to help him explore the forest to find that girl, the girl that appeared with the doll I have now."He needs me," I sighed. "But my other side does not think that brightly."Tobiah goes closer to me, and then gave me a look of concern. He smiled slightly, "You can kill anytime, can you?"I sighed once more. I lowered my gaze."No, I only did that one time because I want to survive, that's it."Tobiah reaches for something
Later that day. It’s four o’clock in the afternoon. It’s time. Earlier in the morning, when we finally got out of the room, James invited the entire class to study. He reasoned it was a preparation for the next test. But that was not the reason. It was something else.Footsteps echoed through the walls and murmurs are filling the air with disturbing noises. I knew it was afternoon, but the fact that no light can be seen reflecting on the windows is suspicious. It is maybe caused by the weather or some phenomenon. Whatever it is, I must not risk my life trying to know.I walked over a red carpet leading to the main hall.I stopped near a foundation and looked around. Scholars scattered around the hall, creating noises from chatting and even running around. Smith isn’
