ELISE'S POV I was in the kitchen, busy scrubbing the pots from breakfast. My hands were hurting from the hot water. The other maids worked quietly around me. ELISE'S POV I blinked, looking at them in disbelief. I was scared. Why did they want me to follow them? “Get up,” one of them said, grabbing my arm roughly. The other seized my other arm, and together they dragged me to my feet. My legs wobbled, barely supporting my weight after the harsh wake-up. “What’s happening?” I asked. The guards didn’t respond.
