FERRIS' POV

I sat in my office, staring at the stack of documents Jackson had handed me.

The sight of the papers alone felt like torture to me. I had gone through them countless times, searching for any issues, any hint of falsification. But Jackson had been thorough.

Everything appeared legitimate in the documents. The documents proved that Elise had broken pack rules and deserved to be stripped off her title. Therefore, she couldn't come with me to my pack. She needed to stay here to face the wrath of the Alpha.

The council's rules were clear, and unless I could prove the documents were falsified, I had no choice but to send Elise back. The thought made my heart ache. Elise had come to mean so much to me in such a short time. Her personality, her kindness, her spirit – all of it had captivated me.
