FOUR

ADRIEN'S POV

I was seated in my office, trying to do some work, but all I could think of was Sophia. It was so frustrating how I loved her as much as I hated her, and yet I chose to treat her like my first instinct told me to and not my wolf.

Anytime I felt I was going too far, I would remember how she has strongly stood by her father and had supported him when he was killing off our kind, slaughtering us like we weren't living beings but peasants. Even peasants deserved to live.

That day, kneeling in the pool of my mother's blood as I clutched her cold dead body in my embrace, I had sworn to return the same favor to the faes.

I would make them wish they had never even thought of targeting us for their new killing experiments. I and my brothers, Lucas and Adam respectively gathered army of men, myriads of men who were capable of training past their limits to attain full power.

While I trained pure blooded werewolves, Lucan handled were-witches and vampires, and Adam... Well, since he was literally the last of his kind, he stayed back to teach the warriors ambush tactics during the day when they weren't fugitively training.

People always wondered how Adam, Lucas and I were related when most of us were hybrids, but our mother did tell us that it was the moon goddess who had created the three of us to perfection before she birthed us.

We thought her words were ridiculous. My mum was human and my father was a werewolf, it doesn't just make sense how Lucas and Adam came about their powers and species, but one thing was that the three of us loved each other very much.

Just as we all were brought out from the womb into the world together, that was just how close we were. I was first though, Lucas was second and Adam was last. We three were known as the Triple threat. Legend has it that we were the most powerful beings in the history of werewolves, witches and Vampires. But it so happens that fate decided to mess with us, and they ruined our perfect life by giving us a Fae as a mate.

It wasn't sharing her that was the problem... We three were actually used to sharing anything right from when we were little kids.

It was the mate that was the problem.

Fate didn't just give us any fae as a mate, it gave us the princess. The main terrorizer of our species. The devil incarnate who remotes her father to do a lot of horrible things to us... The woman who was responsible for the death of my mother.

We thought it was a mistake. Hell no! The Moon goddess must have mistaken her for someone else, because she couldn't have fated an evil being who deserved death to the three most powerful beings in the world.

And what was worse, she was made her The guardian amongst four of us. Well, if you didn't know what a guardian was, I'll tell you in a simple sentence. She was the glue that kept us together. Mentally, physically, emotionally... She was like this drug that we couldn't just stop taking no matter how much we hated it. We were addicted.

Without her, we were basically useless. I couldn't shift, Lucas couldn't cast spells and open portals, and Adam...wel, just like us, he'd be like a human.

The only way, we could retain our powers and make us stronger was by mating with her, and since we hated her to the point of even finding her appearance disgusting despite the mate bond, we figured out another way to replenish our powers.

We settled for drinking her blood. At first, Lucas and I who weren't used to drinking blood, found it repulsive, so we just let Adam feed on her while we discovered another way to replenish our powers without having to mate with her.

The thing is, we were only repulsed by Sophia because of her species and her 'doings' in the past which tagged her as our enemy. Asides that, I knew we three were quite proud of having someone as beautiful as she was as a mate. My brothers and I shared one mind, and I could sense this pride anytime we were around our mate. With her red colored hair falling down her shoulders to her back, and her emerald green eyes, she looked like a fucking gorgeous mermaid. She had mouth watering curves at the right places, full breast, wide hips and a perky ass.

When we saw a beautiful woman, we'd know without denial, and Sophia was drop dead beautiful, but it doesn't change the fact of who she was and what she was capable of if she ever got her powers back.

As a fae, she was capable of replenishing her powers by drinking our blood, but since we only replenished her strength with food, we didn't see it necessary to even let her have a taste of our blood no matter how much she was desperate to have it.

So when Adam was feeding on her blood, we discovered one thing. While I and Lucas grew weaker and tired at every little task we had to accomplish, Adam was capable of fighting us both in a battle and beating us hands down.

When we knew we had no choice, we sought to drinking her blood, and if training for a war was hard, then drinking blood out of your mate whom you had no intention of being intimate with was an impossible task.

Sophia scented of pinecones and blooming roses. No matter how many days she wasn't opportuned to take a bath, her scent seemed to even be more arousing. Coupled with her beauty, any man would call us fools for resisting the mate bond. We were punishing ourselves by not touching her, and probably her too, since we could smell her arousal anytime we drank from her, but the hate... The pain lingering in our mind, bittered against her, held us back from going past using her as a blood bank.
