Michael’s POV

“We should celebrate and drink now, the enemy is finally gone!” David exclaimed raising a glass above his head.

“Finally!” Selena chorused after him but for some reason, I didn’t do it.

I felt indifferent. If he could fail at one time, what was there to prove that he would fail again? What if we had missed something? What if Ella had escaped while we were not paying attention?

“Babe, why aren’t you drinking?” Selena sneered. “Are you missing your little whore?”

“I wish that was the case, but it isn’t,” I breathed, and I felt David’s eyes burn over my skin.
