Prologue

I somehow managed to pull myself up to the front steps of my home “The Scarlet-Blade pack” - my knees buckled as a flash of burning pain overtook every inch of my thoughts. Shredding them to pieces right before my eyes. I couldn’t focus on what was in front of me- only the burning pain that felt like it was melting my insides. I took a few deep ragged breaths while reaching under on my left side “come on, you go this, if I don’t do it, I will be dead in minutes, come on,” I said giving myself a pep talk. I wrapped my palm around a piece of cold steel, gripping tightly. I can feel the poison that the blade has been dipped in rush through every single vein in my body, “On the count of three” I breathed out loud. “One” I gripped the steel handle tighter. closing my eyes. “Two” “Three” In a single slick motion, the sound of flesh ripping filled my ears and a loud grunt escaped my lips –“Oh fuck, that hurts like hell” I groaned, I looked at the silver knife that I pulled out of my side.

Chapter 1

There he was, A Tall, well-muscled man, - chest completely naked, A green tattoo swirled across his skin, his body filled the entire door space of my bedroom – my eyes trailed his lower body landing on the only scrap of clothing he had on – his boxers, I can trace the outline of his junk imprint. Wow. Shit.  Don’t look. “Seth, what do you think you are doing in here?” Henry asked as he sat at the edge of the ruffled bed watching him very closely. So, his name is Seth?  “Do you know what time it is?” Seth asked walking into the poorly dimly lit bedroom, his red ruby eyes- trained to keep sight of his target. I let out a deep and tired sigh. “Hell, I don’t know, sometime after 3 A.M.?” Ding. Ding. We have a winner and it’s the stupid cat. Seth took a step towards Henry “That’s right” his voice roared out - ang

Chapter 2

I turned around and pressed my back against the closed door and let out a tired sigh, A small whimper caught my ears as my eyes fell on Sunshine who sat up against the wooden headboard that was mounted on the wall behind her- her big owl eyes were the same color blue that I could never get out of my head ever since the first day I saw them staring back at me – They reflected with such sadness that could only be described as an endless sea and nothing for her to hold onto. Her thin blue nightgown pushed passed her bare knees exposing her full thick thighs as her legs were propped up against her pretty chest, I loved the way her curvy body was left exposed to me, she had no idea what I could do to her under a single touch. the dominant part of me wanted her to fear me, but the primal part of me craved to savor that look of fear and innocence on her sweet doll-like face. yet the obsessive part of me wanted to keep her safe, sheltered, and I would kill any man who dared to look her way.

Chapter 3

A melody hummed behind the bedroom door -Ryder’s hands gently bowed a soft tune on his almost invisible violin -soothing Sunshine into a calming and relaxing state. – as she laid upon my chest, my hand stroking the top of her head. Many thoughts raced through my mind as I kept my gaze on the doll playing a lullaby. “So, you couldn’t leave it alone, could you?” I asked Ryder but he gave no response, only kept still in his place. -It didn’t take long before my ears perked up to a small breathing noise, I looked down and saw that my mate was completely asleep. My fingers softly gripped her chin tipping her face to me - My eyes memorizing the sweet look of innocence on her face -Her lips had a small rose-pink tint to them. Kissable. I leaned my face down meeting hers, my lips gently brushed against the flesh stealing a sweet and yet delicious kiss- claiming her mouth with mine. she must have felt the wetness of my tongue traced along the edges of her bottom lip when her blue diamond eye

Chapter 4

I knew if I couldn’t have Beth under me tonight, then I would have made sure she wouldn’t forget the true pleasure of A shadow-man’s lust, the monster in me would have brought her to the edge of bliss and with one simple word, touch, whisper, her body would tip over that blissful edge releasing the visible evidence from between her legs as it gushes down like a lake. -I put her head back down on my barreled chest, my hand gently stroking the top of her crown - vowing in my head that I will show no mercy to those who dare hurt her, their death will be as painful as the pain they inflicted on her at that moment “it’s time for us to sleep this time” I said, Beth didn’t argue back but caved in my request as she felt the exhaustion take over from that blissful edge I tipped her over with my mouth just minutes ago – I let Ryder’s music that turned into a sweet lullaby sing for a while longer – the thought of me loosing control of my powers almost frightened me, the tho

Chapter 5

There was a loud commotion that came from the kitchen followed by glass crashing - Gary goes in to see why his two best pack members are going at each other’s throats this early in the morning when he hadn’t had his first cup of coffee yet. Gary’s eyes were glued to Logan as he stood behind the black granite countertop center island holding a broken coffee pot in his hand. “What in the moon goddesses name happened in here?” Gary asked as he stared at Logan shaking the rest of the liquid out on the floor.  I pointed down to Henry watching as he struggled to get up on his feet “He had it coming old man” I shouted tossing the broken coffee pot into the trash can next to me. “No one talks to me like that, not even him” I calmly said. I was at complete shock, but I shouldn’t be surprised really – for as long as I known Logan over this last year, He’s always had been a mystery to me with an unchecked temper – must be an under

Ever since Beth had arrived at the shadow-core packhouse - she has gotten my boys riled up -it’s not hurt fault. It’s the monster who made her this way. I also wanted to Protect her, but I think logan is the better fit out of us two, you know for being a hundred and twenty years older than me - he is still limber and more spry then I am - I maybe half vampire, but my wolf was just as tired as the day we lost my mate penny some time back. The Doorbell Rings.  I silently thanked the moon goddess for this little intermission between logan and Henry. Goddess knows I needed it. “You Two know the Rules, no killing one another without a witness” I said turning around and walking to the living room. “I’ll be back” “This is your fault” Henry said as it was just the two of them left. “How is it my fault? you have no one to blame but yourself” I put my hand up ending the conversation between me and Logan but

Chapter 7

It was after 8 A.M when I finally reached the corner of the local hospital where Emma A.K.A Sunshine Works, I stayed hidden behind a concrete wall that separated me from the parking lot - my lips pulled into a small smile as my eyes found what they have been searching for - They found Emma- she quietly exited the large rotating Doors that led in and out of the main lobby - She was too focused looking down at her cellphone that she didn’t even notice me standing just an arm’s reach a way of touching the bottom strands of her Chestnut brown hair with my fingertips. I’m glad she didn’t notice me- if she only knew that I was so close- It would destroy her to know that I was right here. watching. like I’ve always done - To her I might as well be a shadow, A ghost from her past that needs to stay buried there. “We shouldn’t have come here”- Gazer the wolf said in the back of Boris’s head.  “I know Gazer, but I needed to see her, I miss her and I know you miss her as w

Chapter 8

“Sunshine!” A voice yelled out from the driver’s side of a black S.U.V. that spat up. My eyes squinted as if the sun bothered my sight. “Logan?” I asked myself wondering why in the hell is he driving like a mad man especially in a hospital parking lot this early in the morning. I turned to face my co-worker Mark who had no real expression on his face - he just quietly watched the giant S.U.V. stop in front of us as Logan and Henry jumped out in a hurry.  “Woah, where’s the fire guys?” I asked jokingly. “Come on quick, Gary wants you back to the house” Henry said as he Grabbed Emma’s hand Rushing her behind me. “Oh, okay” I whispered following behind Henry till we reached the S.U.V “Hey! You can’t take her like that!” Mark said as he made his voice known. “Watch me” I said as I opened the back seat “Get in” I Demanded wanting Sunshine to obey me without question and without a fight. I turned to Face Henry who stood next to me and I
