Another year, another day, another generation, yet it did not seem to pass by. The story has always been passed from one generation to another, one child to another, father to child, grandfather to grandchildren yet the story seems to be as fresh as it had initially happened.
“And that is how it all happened." A young wolf who seemed to be in his mid forties smiled at his son on his laps, with the head of his son to his shoulder.
They were both in the Royal Garden of the Half Moon Park with few guards behind them even at the dead of the night. The gentle breeze blew the hair of the wolf to whatever direction it pleases as his hair was unpacked.
Occasionally, the wolf brushed the hair away from his eyes when the wind blew it to his eyes.
"That is how Half Moon Park came into existence?” The young boy raised his head quickly to behold his Father's face.
The little wolf was just fifteen years of age. He was young and handsome and looked even more handsome as his Mother had braided his hair that morning.
“Yes, Kelvin. That was how we became Half Moon Park” He placed a kiss on his son's forehead.
Kelvin was about to ask a question when his Mother, the Luna came out from the blues and quickly scooped him into her hands.
“On this note, have a good night's rest” She placed a kiss on his forehead and was about to carry him in. Kelvin's father smiled as he knew what would happen next. It was the usual routine every night.
“But mother…I am not sleepy” Kelvin protested, with a frown etched to his face.
“You have to go to bed now, sleepy or not. Tomorrow is a long day” The Luna faked a frown and held on tight to him despite his wrestles and struggles and walked quickly into the Royal Home. At a point, he gave up.
“Goodnight Father” He greeted as his Father walked behind them, preparing to go to bed too.
“Goodnight my son” The Alpha smiled as he went to his own room. Leaving the Alpha's presence was one thing Kelvin never liked. He always wanted to be with his Father but his Mother would not hesitate to carry home to bed every night.
True to his mother’s words, the next day was a very long day for him because that very night, Half Moon Park was attacked and a lot of people died. The Alpha inclusive.
Alpha Kelvin sighed as he remembered that dreadful night. It was twelve years ago yet the memory remained fresh in his head.
The clear vision of the manner in which the massacre went on including the death of his Father remained evergreen in his memory. Alpha Kelvin remembered the story his Father has told him.
He remembered his Father's last words to him. The story must go on. He also had to tell his son all that happened.
“Your Majesty” The right-hand wolf of the Alpha walked in, bowing down and unknowingly bringing the Alpha out of his trance.
“Yes?” The Alpha turned to look at him.
“We’ve gotten some news” The right-hand wolf added, turning to the side as he was formerly obstructing the main entrance, realizing the Alpha was about to go out.
Alpha Kelvin had stayed by his window in his room, staring at the moon. As soon as the Alpha stepped out, he followed him.
“It is about Alpha Damien”
“What about him?”
“We heard his bride is heavily pregnant” The right-hand man added and bowed.
“And?”
“Judging from the situation, she took in about the same time the Luna took in and as such, may deliver her child at the same time as the Luna” He answered as they both walked towards the garden. The same garden Kelvin's Father had told him the story.
“Do you think Alpha Damien’s child could be a threat to us?” Alpha Kelvin paused as he stared again at the moon.
Alongside his right-hand man, Elvis, he had walked out of the room to the garden even at that time of the night to have a clearer view of the moon.
Alpha Kelvin always did that whenever he was worried or whenever he needed answers.
“I am afraid yes, Your Highness” Elvis bowed. Alpha Kelvin turned and walked back to his bride's room and there she was, lying peacefully like a child, her hand on her stomach like she was trying to protect her child.
Seeing her in that state, Alpha Kelvin was relieved. The previous night had been bad. The Luna could not sleep as she was in so much pain. She was very ill yet nothing seemed to help.
Different physicians were brought yet none could save her. The bridge between the wolves and the moon goddess, the Ancient One also could not see anything.
What is happening? Not finding a solution coupled with the silence of the Moon Goddess made him worried.
Alpha Kelvin walked over to his Luna and gently brushed her hair with his hands. Even while asleep, a beautiful smile eluded her lips. He placed a kiss on her soft lips and her stomach before walking back outside.
“She will be fine” Elvis smiled, seeing a hint of sadness and fear on the Alpha’s face, despite the Alpha trying to hide it. Not able to utter a word, the Alpha nodded in response.
“Go to bed. Tomorrow is going to be a big day” Alpha ordered before walking back to his room, his regalia flowing after him.
“After you, Your Highness”
“I am not a child. I can see myself back to my room” The Alpha smirked.
“Goodnight your Highness” Elvis bowed and walked to his room.
The early morning sun crept in and disrupted the peaceful sleep of the Alpha as well as the Luna of Half Moon Park. More of the Luna as the Alpha was already awake. He could not sleep all through the night as he kept thinking of Alpha Damien and his soon-to-be welcomed child.
When he finally managed to sleep, he began to dream of him. He began to dream of Alpha Damien launching attacks against him and even hurting him. Alpha Damien was about to kill his child when he awoke from his sleep.
Alpha Kelvin hurriedly got into the bathroom and a few minutes later, he headed to the Luna's room. At the time he got to her room, she was lazily rising.
“Morning my love” The Alpha placed a kiss on Luna's cheeks.
``Good morning,” She answered lazily as she embraced him.
“Good morning, your highness” The maids with the Luna smiled as they greeted the Alpha. They were about four in number, all dressed in bathing robes as they prepared to bath the Luna.
“Take good care of my Luna and…” He paused and placed a kiss on the
Luna’s stomach. “And my child”
“Yes, your highness” They smiled and answered in unison.
“Do not take long, meet me at the table and let us have breakfast” He placed a kiss on her cheeks once again before walking out of the room. Alpha Kelvin tried to be strong for his Luna but deep within, he was scared.
Scared for the Luna. Scared for the unborn child. Scared for the future.
“Good morning, Your Highness” Elvis greeted as soon as he saw the Alpha.
“Good morning” The Alpha walked briskly to the court. There would be cases to settle.
Seconds rolled into minutes, minutes into days, days into weeks, and weeks into months. As the days grew, his fear doubled. Fear gripped Kelvin's heart and no matter how much he tried to calm himself, nothing seemed to be working.
“Your Highness, the Luna is in pain. I think she is about to put to bed” One of the maids suddenly walked in one afternoon to inform the Alpha.
Before that moment, he was in the garden with Elvis, making plans and strategies on how to secure the park since the Luna was near delivery.
At the news, he jumped up and hurriedly walked to the delivery room where Luna was, leaving Elvis behind.
He felt a sharp pain in his heart as he watched his bride in pain as she was about to bring forth his child, tears freely falling from her eyes.
Just then, Elvis walked in to meet the Alpha. The Alpha was distressed but he knew he had to inform him.
“Alpha Damien has welcomed a son”
At the news, Kelvin became even more scared. Just then, Luna let out a loud cry, drawing the attention of the Alpha.
He was about to go in when he heard the cry of a baby. He sighed in relief and was about to go in again when the midwife walked out to meet him with a mixed expression on her face.
“What is the matter? Where is my bride? Where is my child?”
“They are both okay,” The midwife answered.
“What then is the matter? Speak now!” Rage was visible in his eyes
“The Luna…..delivered a female child,” She sighed.
The Alpha stepped backward like he was going to fall. It simply meant trouble.
“Reign” I could hear my mother's voice as she called out to me. I covered my mouth, trying to suppress the laughter as I hid under the table right in front of her. She had gone to the living room and even my room but could not find me. . It was Father’s throne anniversary. It was the 13th year he became the Alpha of the Half Moon Park. I had informed my mother I did not want the red bow she had picked for me nor did I want the dress she got for me but she did not listen. “Reign, where are you?” Mother placed her hands on her waist as she turned. She looked at the plates on the table in anger and was about to call out the maids for not cleaning it. “What is the matter? Where is Reign?” I could hear Father’s voice from afar? His voice interrupted her action as he walked over to her quickly. I was gripped with fear because if there was something Father never liked, it was me troubling Mother or making Mother shout. Not wanting to face Father’s wrath, I came out from where I was hid
Father’s words bruised my heart and my soul. It pierced into my heart like a two-edged sword. Did I just hear him right? It did not seem so.I could not control the tears that fell from my eyes. It fell slowly and softly. I raised my head as I heard the clanking sound of the sword.“Father!” I called in shock as Father raised the sword like he was going to murder me with it but then, he drove the sword into the floor, right by my side. I sighed in relief although there was still a hint of fear in my heart.“At this point, be prepared to die…” He paused and combed his hair with his hand as he turned his backk to me. “If you are not ready to fight and destroy your enemies”I had so many questions. Who were my enemies? Why would I even have enemies at this tender age of mine? Why would I need to train at this tender age? Why would I even have to train at that time of the morning? It was still dawn! But I could not dare to say a word.“So, I have to start grooming you now” He turned back
The ArgumentI turned back to look at them and I saw their faces, my father’s face was filled with anger and rage. I had never seen him that angry in my entire years of existence.I didn't care about the jar anymore, I just wanted to leave there that very moment. If wishes were horses, a beggar would ride one. If it was possible, I would have definitely played back time and start the day all over again but how could I? I couldn’t even move after hearing such words from my own father. My mother was worried and scared, I looked into her eyes and she knew I had heard everything they said and talked about, the continuous argument they had had always been about me and just me. How would I continue? I cannot bear mum always being hurt like this. My father loves his wife so much but because of me, they fight every day and every time, I feel so bad for my mum."Your mother asked you to leave, didn’t she? So what are you doing here eavesdropping? Is that what you are good at now? To just show
Chapter FourThe Tell-Tale Spirit. My lunch and dinner were sent to my room, I didn’t have a reason to step my foot outside. I knew something was off. I decided to sneak out and run away, packing my things would mean I want them to know that I am running away, and that isn’t the best advice, or is it?”It would be rather obvious that I decided to disappear, writing a letter won’t be nice either. I was hoping that soon if I heard their voices that I would at least change my mind and stay with my parents but the house was quiet, it was said that there was still some bad blood in between and I would guess that the entire staff is walking on shells. It became awfully quiet, an hour to midnight, the moon shined so bright and it had a soft breeze, I closed my windows and I took some of my pillows and clothes and stuffed the bed to make it seem like I was still there, it is a trick that I had learnt in camp, although when it was to test how good the stuffing was, I didn’t do too well, I was
The Search for Reign.Reign's point of view.I was in the midst of the flowers and the grass. It was really comfortable and quiet. I looked around and it looked like a hidden garden. I spotted an orange tree and a very tall apple tree. I felt relieved, I mean spending a week here and eating fruits wouldn’t be so bad.I played and twirled in the garden, for a while I started feeling hungry, I opened my bag and I brought out my snacks to eat but it was barely enough, I knew I wanted to eat the apple, it is so red, plump but there was one problem, the tree is so huge and tall, climbing it would mean either an injured leg, a broken rib or a twisted ankle, and neither any of those options would work, and I wouldn’t want a broken body part.I sighed as I needed to think of other ways to get that apple, but how can I?” I pondered for a while. I tried climbing the tree. Maybe it was just because I was far away from the tree but then when I got to the tree it became way taller and I knew it real
The search for Reign 2: Reign comes back home[Alpha Kelvin and Luna Sophie] Author point of view“Sophie? Please, you need to eat, this is already past nine, it is late, you have searched for her and you are drained, you will fall sick, you have barely said any word, please Sophie.” The Alpha said to his wife that is weak, Reign had been gone for a whole day and her mother hasn’t been the same, she is so pissed at her husband, she believes he is the reason why she ran away, the Alpha has been looking for her but she hasn’t seen his care and pain that she is missing.“We haven’t seen her sir, we will go to the other clan tomorrow and search” Beta Elvis said as he walked into the room where Luna Sophie was, she was right in front of her mirror.“I will go to bed now, keep searching for her” The Luna said in a quiet voice as she went to the bed and covered herself with the duvet. The Alpha signaled Beta Elvis, it meant “we need to talk outside”The Beta understood and went out.“Sh
Finding out about each other.“Kelvin, I heard your daughter ran away from home because she was is scared of facing my son, afraid of losing too, I mean how could you lose your own daughter but it’s given, you are very in competent and you have been that way since we were kids and now, why would you pass down your incompetence to your unwanted daughter and more so, if I was her I would run away from you, any way my son will be at the games this year, he will participate with your lazy and scared daughter, I will tell you this, I assure you, she will be back after the whole competition. Alpha Kelvin received a letter from Alpha Damien, the last time this happened was when Reign was born, He made sure it clear in his letter that Reign, being a girl would never match up to his son and never will, and Alpha Kelvin would make his daughter practiced and practiced hard just to prove to Damien. His mood suddenly changed as he looked over to his wife and sick daughter, he took the letter and he
Even though his wife was against it, he knew his reputation would be at stake. He had to think of a way of getting his daughter in. Of course, she was ill, she had to somehow go.Alpha Kelvin walked outside, alongside his aide, Elvis.“How is Reign? You went up to check her the other time, didn’t you?” Alpha Kelvin questioned as placed his hand behind him, a mischievous and mysterious smile etched on his face.“Yes, she is, your Highness” Elvis smiled as he followed the Alpha closely. “She is very well. She is getting better. I think you should see her” Elvis added.“I think not so” He chuckled.“I think you should, your Highness. I know what your thoughts are. I know what you think. You believe she would be upset on seeing you but she is not like that. She is not that type of woman. She is not upset with you. You are her father, after all” He reassured him.“She is better, you say?” “Yes, your highness”“Very good. Get her prepared. She will represent our clan. She would represent
