Chapter 9

When I got home that night, Amy stormed toward me. Her eyes were puffy and red. She lifted her hand, clearly aiming to strike me.

"This is all your fault, Julia! You got me expelled! I'm going to make you pay!"

I stayed calm and held up my phone. "Have you not bullied me enough at school? Maybe I should record this and send it to the reporters to expose your true colors."

I'd already collected quite a few contacts for this very reason.

"I don't care! I'll kill you!"

Amy was relentless. She grabbed a ceramic bowl from the table to throw it at me.

"Enough, you idiot!" Charles bellowed, slapping Amy hard across the face. "It's bad enough you got caught at school. Must you cause problems at home too?"

I glanced at Charles, aware that he wasn't stepping in to help me. He was just furious at Amy for embarrassing him by getting expelled from school.

Nancy rushed over and pulled Charles aside. She shot me a scornful look and said, "Sure, Amy's not blameless, but this is mostly your fau
