The sun is high, and it’s tossing golden rays over the Moonstone pack training grounds. I stand in the center of the field, my body tense with uncertainty. All around me, the enforcers of the park circle like wolves sizing up their prey. The training had been intense, but nothing prepared me for the reality of this mock battle.

Talon’s words echo in my mind. “This is the final stage. You’ve trained for this moment. Show them what you’re capable of, but don’t forget that control is everything. You’re not here to harm or be harmed, just prove that you can lead as Luna.”

Talia stirs within me, her energy simmering just below the surface. “We are ready for this,” she growls, her confidence bolstering my own.

The first enforcer lungs at me, a blur of fur and muscle. I dodge, and my body reacts instinctively as I sidestep his attack and land a precise blow to his flank, sending him sprawling to the ground.

One down.

The others didn’t hesitate. They dash towards me in pairs and groups, the

The mating heat Is impossible to ignore now. It simmers beneath the surface every time I am near Phoenix, a magnetic pull that tests the limits of my self-control. At first, I thought I could suppress it. I tried to convince myself that the bond was a distraction I could manage. But each day that passes by proved me wrong. Phoenix isn’t oblivious to it either. Though she doesn’t say anything out rightly, I see it in her eyes, the way they linger a little too long when she thinks I’m not looking. The way her breath hitched when I moved closer. The way her wolf, Talia, would growl softly to Lucas whenever they cross paths. One evening, as we shifted back to our human form after a patrol at the border, the tension finally gave way. We walk into the Lair together. Phoenix looks at me, her golden eyes reflecting the light, and the heat flaring so intensely I feel Lucas stir inside. “Do you feel it too?” I ask, my voice was barely audible. Her gaze doesn’t waver. “Every moment I’m close t

PHOENIXThe rest of the day is a blur of activity, Talon and I strategize, going over every possible scenario. Mira and Hosea offer support, their presence a reminder that we aren’t alone in this.As night fell, I found myself standing on the Lair’s balcony, gazing out at the Moonstone pack house. The bond between Talon and I pulse steadily, a source of comfort amidst the chaos. “You are thinking too much, Phoenix,” Talon says, joining me on the balcony. I smile faintly, “You can’t blame me. The council has never been kind to you.”He wraps an arm around me, pulling me close to himself. “We have face worse. And this one, won’t be different.”I lean into him, letting his strength steady me. “Promise me something,” I say calmly.“Anything at all,” he replied, without hesitation. “No matter the outcome, we will stick together,” I say. “No one should divide us. The echoes of the battle linger in the woods as Talon and I press forward, riding in silence. The heavyweight of our recent encounter with the rogues sitting on my shoulders, but there is an unexpected warmth growing within me. The wolves who came to our aid had moved with unity and precision that speaks loyalty, whether to us or some other purpose remains to be seen. But for the first time in weeks, I feel a glimmer of hope and I will explore this feeling. “Talon,” I murmur, my voice soft, “Do you think they can be allies, or just…rogues who happened to be there? Talon’s jaw tightens as he looks ahead, eyes narrowing. “I don’t know. But we’re going to find out soon. Moonstone doesn’t need an alliance.” “Moonstone could use an alliance, they can be useful, don’t you think so?” I press on. But seeing that Talon isn’t welcoming the topic, I just nod. Despite the pain in my muscles and the exhaustion weighing down on me, I feel a renewed sense of determination. I have fought hard to

No,” Talon growls, his voice echoing with the raw strength of his Alpha status. But it is too late, the enforcers are already upon us, their hands grabbing my arms, their hold iron-tight. “No!” I shout the bond we share thrumming with urgency and rage. Talon fights, his movements a blur of raw power and primal determination. He strikes out at the enforcers, his claws slicing through the air, but the numbers are against us. “Phoenix!” Talon roars, his voice desperate, but the enforcers are relentless. They pull me away from him, my feet dragging against the cold, hard floor of the chamber. I fight, kicking and screaming, but the more I struggle, the tighter their hold becomes. My eyes meet Talon’s, and I see the anguish there, his fury mirroring mine. Tears burn in my eyes as I am pulled further away, but I hold on to his gaze. My heart is screaming for him, for our bond, for our strength together. And as they carry me out, I know this is going to be a long ride. The counci

The council chamber trembles with the clash of snarls and heavy thud of wolves colliding. Talon and I have shifted into our wolf forms, each of us being fueled by raw instinct as we fight to escape the Council’s grasp. The Elders stand in a tight circle at the far end of the room, their faces a mixture of disdain and cold determination. This isn’t just a wolf, not entirely. It is something monstrous, its fur is black, eyes glow crimson. The power rolling off it is suffocating, its presence exuding violence and control. Talon growls low, his hackles rising as he steps protectively in front of me. “He feels it too,” I realize. This isn’t just another fight. This is something created to destroy. The argument we had moments ago is still ringing in my ears, their clipped words echo like a curse. They have condemned me for the power I carry as the golden wolf, and their threats to test me were nearly thin-veiled executions. Talon had argued on my behalf, demanding they see reasons. But

I chuckle, my golden eyes shining with warmth and satisfaction. “She certainly has her father’s stubbornness.” “And her mother’s fire,” Talon adds, squeezing hand. Hosea folds her arms, watching the pup play. “I Keep thinking back to how it all began to unfold. How close we came to losing everything. I turned to Phoenix, expecting to see the confusion on her face but she looked calm instead. She knows.“Phoenix?” I ask, my voice steady but edged with uncertainty. She looked at me, her golden eyes shining under the ethereal glow of the sacred region. “I knew I was different Talon. Everyone including Hosea said so but what I didn’t know is to extent to which I must wield this power…until now.”The massive golden wolf before us, the divine being tilts its head, watching me closely. Then, it spoke again. “You have come to restore what is lost. To reclaim what has been tainted. Moonston’s veil was once an unbreakable force, a shield that protected the territory and your pack. The weight of responsibility pressed down on my chest as I and Talon stood before the remnants of Silvercrest. The decision has been made, we have to leave. There is no other way to save what is left of our world. The surviving pack members gather around, their eyes full of worry and grief. Many of them are injured, some barely able to stand. Among them are my stepmother and Lucia, they’ve been through so much these past few days.I turn to her, gently squeezing her hand. “I swear to you, we will come back. This will always be my home.”Lucia who looks exhausted from catering from the injured pack, nod weakly. “We will be here waiting.”Talon surveyed the crowd. “You will be safe here. We are taking you to a place where you will be protected against any more of Dylan’s revengeful attacks.”A few wolves exchange glances, uncertain but trusting this Alpha. We will take them to the Ironclaw pack territory, we had built a relationship with at this point, they have become family. PHOENIXI feel weightless as if I am drifting between reality and something far beyond my understanding. I am neither awake nor asleep, I simply exist in a vast, endless void. Then, a voice echoed through the emptiness. “You have come far, but your journey is not yet over.” I turned, searching for the source of the voice but all I see is swirling golden mist. It looks familiar, just like the first time I was cast out of Silvercrest. That night, when I had first heard the whispers that led me to the north region of Shadowpine. That night when my life took a rapid turn. My pulse immediately quickened as the mist condensed, forming into a shape, a towering, ethereal figure with eyes that glow like molten gold. The presence radiating power, ancient and overwhelming, but strangely soothing at the same time. I swallowed, forcing myself to speak. “Who are you?” The being tilts its head, amusement flickering in its luminous gaze. “The same one who guided you once. The one who marked you

Her fury burn out, nearly uncontrollable, as I and Talon before Cain, who now has control over moonstone territory. The pack house is silent, an eerie kind of silence that signifies fear and oppression. I clench my fists, my nails digging into my palms as I watch the man who has once stood beside Talon as Beta, stand against him.Everything in me screams to lunge, to rip Cain apart for his betrayal, for his smug expression, for the way he has turned our people into hostages. But I can't, not with Mira and Hosea being held hostage too. My heart pounds in my chest as Cain turns his back on Talon, issuing orders to these strange wolves. He has locked us out, barring us from the very home we have fought so hard to protect. I can feel Talon’s pain. His fists are already clenched so tightly that his knuckles turn white, his body taut with withheld rage. But what is most painful is the heartbreak I see

TALONI stepped through the broken threshold of the Moonstone packhouse, at this point every nerve in me was on edge. Phoenix is standing at my side, her golden eyes scanning the eerie silence of what is supposed to be our home. Behind us, Hosea, Mira, and the enforcers follow, their steps cautious, their senses alert. The territory feels hollow the moment we cross into it. The absence of the veil, the mystical barrier that has once kept the pack hidden and protected is unsettling. It is as if the very soul of Moonstone has been stripped away, leaving us exposed and vulnerable. “Something is wrong,” Phoenix whispers, gripping my forearm. I nodded, my jaw tightening as we entered the main hall. The air is thick with an unnatural stillness. No sounds of wolves moving through the corridors, no scent of heartfires burning. It’s all just silence here. Then, at the center of the house, standing as if he has been waiting, is Cain. My breath left me in a slow, controlled exhale. Cain sto
