The council chamber trembles with the clash of snarls and heavy thud of wolves colliding. Talon and I have shifted into our wolf forms, each of us being fueled by raw instinct as we fight to escape the Council’s grasp. The Elders stand in a tight circle at the far end of the room, their faces a mixture of disdain and cold determination.

This isn’t just a wolf, not entirely. It is something monstrous, its fur is black, eyes glow crimson. The power rolling off it is suffocating, its presence exuding violence and control.

Talon growls low, his hackles rising as he steps protectively in front of me. “He feels it too,” I realize. This isn’t just another fight. This is something created to destroy.

The argument we had moments ago is still ringing in my ears, their clipped words echo like a curse. They have condemned me for the power I carry as the golden wolf, and their threats to test me were nearly thin-veiled executions. Talon had argued on my behalf, demanding they see reasons. But

PHOENIX My eyes flutter open to darkness, the air around me cold and damp. I am lying on a hard surface—stone, rough and unyielding beneath my back. I try to move, but the clink of metals stops me, Chains. Heavy, cold chains wrap around my wrists and ankles, pinning me in place. Panic flares, but I force myself to breathe. I shift slightly, testing the bonds, but they don’t budge. Talia stirs weakly within me, her strength subdued by whatever dampening magic the Council had used.I scan my surroundings, my vision adjusting to the dim light filtering in from a single torch mounted on the wall. The cage is small and crude, its bars thick and unyielding. The air is heavy with the scent of rust and something acrid, like the residue of spells. Where is Talon?“Talon? Talon?” I call, my voice hoarse. The silence that followed made my heart clench, but then I heard it, a faint sound, a little distant but unmistakable.“Phoenix?” His voice is rough, but the relief in it is clear. “Talon!”

The burning heat of the poison coursed through me, leaving my body weak and trembling. Talia howls within, her voice distant but resolute. Every muscle screaming in protest, and for a moment, I thought this was it—that the Council had succeeded in their twisted plans to break me. But something begins to shift. The pain ebbs slowly, replaced by a soft, glowing warmth. It’s radiating from my core, and spreading outward like golden light, soothing the ache and extinguishing the venom in my veins. My wolf stirs, her strength returning in waves. The golden wolf, her power is fighting back, stronger than I’ve ever felt before. I gasp, and the taste of fresh air fills my lungs as clarity returns. Then a memory surfaced, Hosea’s voice ringing clear in my mind. “The power is unlike anything else. It can sense danger, Phoenix. It won’t let you fall easily, it will protect you, even from yourself.” She was right. My wolf’s power isn’t just a weapon. It is a shield, one that refuses to let me

TALONThe forest is alive with chaos, the sound of claws against claws and growls echo all around. Phoenix and I fight side by side, our wolves tearing through the enforcers with a ferocity that comes from sheer desperation. An enforcer lunges at me, teeth bared, but I sidestepped, slamming my fur into his chest and sending him sprawling into the underbrush. Another came at Phoenix, but her wolf moved like lightning, claws raking across his flank before she turned on the next attacker.Despite the intensity of the fight. I notice something, something feels off. These wolves aren’t trying to kill us, they are too calculated for that. Each strike seems designed to push us; to test our limits rather than harm us. “Phoenix!” I call out, dodging another swipe. “They are not trying to kill us. They are just testing us.”She doesn’t respond, too locked in her battle to acknowledge my observation. Her wolf gleams under the moonlight, every movement powerful and precise. But even she seems to

DYLANDylan trudges through the dark woods, his footsteps heavy as he approaches the Raven Night Pack’s main compound. The moonlight barely penetrates the thick canopy above, casting shadows that mirror the storm brewing in his mind. Phoenix. The name keeps echoing in his head like a haunting melody. He clenched his fists, his jaw tight as he replayed the confrontation in the clearing. Seeing her again rattled him in ways he couldn’t admit, even to himself. When he crosses into the pack’s territory, a few guards nod respectfully, but he barely acknowledges them. His wolf is restless, pacing within him, its frustration mirroring his own. He made his way to his cabin at the edge of the compound, slamming the door shut behind him before collapsing into the leather armchair lying by the window. For a long moment, I sit in silence, staring into the darkness outside. Then the thoughts begin to spiral. “Phoenix. The golden wolf.”He scoffs under his breath, and a bitter smile tugs at his

The Silvercrest Lair looms before me as I approach, it’s stone walls impose against the backdrop of a fading morning sky. This conversation with Alpha Roland isn’t one I wanted to have, but it is very necessary. When the guards usher me into the Alpha’s office, I square my shoulders and fix my expression into one of determination. Alpha Roland is sitting behind a massive oak desk, his piercing eyes as cold as I remember.“Dylan,” Roland greets, his voice clipped and formal. “To what do owe this unusual visit? I thought we finished our business a long time ago.”I incline my head respectfully, suppressing my irritation at the older wolf’s icy carriage. “Alpha Roland, I’m here to discuss Phoenix.”Roland’s expression hardens at the mention of her name. His fingers drum against the desk, his lips press into a thin line. “Phoenix is no longer a part of my pack. Whatever she’s done, or wherever she is now is none of my business.”“But it should be,” I press, stepping closer. “She’s the gol

LUCIALucia paced the length of her quarters, her fury simmering just beneath the surface. Dylan had stormed off after her confession, leaving her standing in the dim moonlight like a fool. Her hands trembling as she grips the back of a chair, her mind replaying the argument with Dylan earlier. It’s always her. Phoenix, Phoenix. She bite her lip hard, the metallic taste of blood grounding her. She’s done everything for him, sacrificing more than anyone knows. And yet, he is ready to throw her aside like she means nothing, all for a woman who had ruined everything. Lucia’s gaze darkens as she let the memories wash over her, pulling her back to the night it all began. It was the eve of Phoenix’s mating ceremony with Dylan. The Silvercrest Pack was buzzing with excitement, the halls of the estate was filled with laughter, the scent of roasted meat, and the sound of glasses clinking. Phoenix, as radiant as ever, was the center of attention, her bright eyes lit up the room. I stood on

The fireplace crackled, and its orange glow cast jagged shadows on the walls, but it did little to help the chill that was sitting on her chest. Lucia is standing in the center of Dylan’s dimly lit liar, unspoken words and unmet expectations have made the air tense. Dylan is sitting in a carved chair, his eyes dark and guarded, a stark contrast to the man she loves.“Dylan,” she says, her voice low and steady, with a touch of desperation hidden beneath the surface, “we need to talk,”He doesn’t shift, and neither does he blink. A muscle twitched in his jaw, betraying the fight behind his composed mask. “I’m listening,” he says, his voice rough, clearly not pleased to see me. Lucia steps forward, the weight of the night pressing on her, urging her to confront Dylan. “I’m the one that has always been here, Dylan. From the moment Phoenix was banished to now, I’ve always been by your side. I’ve proven myself time and again.”Dylan’s eyes flicker to her for a fleeting moment before drif

CAINBeta Cain is sitting in the darkened corner of his private chamber, the dim light from the single lantern casting long, flickering shadows across the stone walls. The Moonstone Pack had grown restless with their Alpha’s return and the unrelenting presence of his Luna. The chatter has picked up again, faint whispers, eager to tear at the fabric of their unity. Cain knows it is because of Phoenix, the golden wolf, the one who had brought back the aura of power that had been slipping through his fingers. He clenches his jaw, the muscles in his neck tightening. The pack members who had once listened to him, revered his voice now treat him as if he were a mere shadow of the man who once led them. It is all Phoenix’s fault. She brought Taon back, she brought a sense of purpose and strength back to the Moonstone pack, and she brought a threat, one Cain couldn’t ignore. He stands up and walks to the window, looking out over the moonlight forest that stretches out beyond the clearing. I

PHOENIXI stood hand in hand with Talon, our fingers intertwined as we watch our daughter, Daciana, race across the howling ground, her laughter ringing through the crisp morning air. The sun bathing the clearing in golden light, illuminating the pack members sparring nearby. Strength and unity coursing through the pack, a testament to all we have fought to restore.A warm breeze rustles the trees as Mira and Hosea approach, their expressions filled with mischief. “You two went ahead and recreated yourselves.” Mira teased, nudging me with a grin. I chuckle, my golden eyes shining with warmth and satisfaction. “She certainly has her father’s stubbornness.” “And her mother’s fire,” Talon adds, squeezing hand. Hosea folds her arms, watching the pup play. “I Keep thinking back to how it all began to unfold. How close we came to losing everything. Although, I always knew deep down that as long as the bond stays, restoration was sure.” I couldn’t help but exhale as memories came rushi

PHOENIX “Ahh ahh.. I knew you would come back, you can’t run away from your home.” Dylan sneers. I stepped forward, my gaze unwavering. “And this time, I’ve come to put an end to you.”Dylan laughed, his voice dripping with malice. “With which strength? Your power as the golden wolf can’t challenge the one I’ve acquired. Seeing that you were too stubborn to be my mate, I had to step up and be more. You are a fool, Phoenix.”Talon stepped beside me, my power radiating from within. “She is not alone.” He said.Dylan’s smile faltered. My shoulders squared. “Let’s finish this, Alpha Talon,” I say looking at Talon with renewed hope and strength. My pulse thundered as I felt his rage. Let the battle begin. My heart pounded as Talon and I raced toward Dylan, the weight of our purpose pressing upon me like never before. The meeting with the divine being in the sacred region had shown me to the core. The choice she made was absolute, she would fight without intervention and she would do it

TALONMy mind reeled at the creature’s words, Birthright? I turned to Phoenix, expecting to see the confusion on her face but she looked calm instead. She knows.“Phoenix?” I ask, my voice steady but edged with uncertainty. She looked at me, her golden eyes shining under the ethereal glow of the sacred region. “I knew I was different Talon. Everyone including Hosea said so but what I didn’t know is to extent to which I must wield this power…until now.”The massive golden wolf before us, the divine being tilts its head, watching me closely. Then, it spoke again. “You have come to restore what is lost. To reclaim what has been tainted. Moonston’s veil was once an unbreakable force, a shield that protected the territory and your pack. But an evil force has stepped into its heart, and it weakened it from within.”Cain.Dylan.I clench my fists. The weight of responsibility pressed down on my chest as I and Talon stood before the remnants of Silvercrest. The decision has been made, we have to leave. There is no other way to save what is left of our world. The surviving pack members gather around, their eyes full of worry and grief. Many of them are injured, some barely able to stand. Among them are my stepmother and Lucia, they’ve been through so much these past few days.I turn to her, gently squeezing her hand. “I swear to you, we will come back. This will always be my home.”Lucia who looks exhausted from catering from the injured pack, nod weakly. “We will be here waiting.”Talon surveyed the crowd. “You will be safe here. We are taking you to a place where you will be protected against any more of Dylan’s revengeful attacks.”A few wolves exchange glances, uncertain but trusting this Alpha. We will take them to the Ironclaw pack territory, we had built a relationship with at this point, they have become family. PHOENIXI feel weightless as if I am drifting between reality and something far beyond my understanding. I am neither awake nor asleep, I simply exist in a vast, endless void. Then, a voice echoed through the emptiness. “You have come far, but your journey is not yet over.” I turned, searching for the source of the voice but all I see is swirling golden mist. It looks familiar, just like the first time I was cast out of Silvercrest. That night, when I had first heard the whispers that led me to the north region of Shadowpine. That night when my life took a rapid turn. My pulse immediately quickened as the mist condensed, forming into a shape, a towering, ethereal figure with eyes that glow like molten gold. The presence radiating power, ancient and overwhelming, but strangely soothing at the same time. I swallowed, forcing myself to speak. “Who are you?” The being tilts its head, amusement flickering in its luminous gaze. “The same one who guided you once. The one who marked you

Her fury burn out, nearly uncontrollable, as I and Talon before Cain, who now has control over moonstone territory. The pack house is silent, an eerie kind of silence that signifies fear and oppression. I clench my fists, my nails digging into my palms as I watch the man who has once stood beside Talon as Beta, stand against him.Everything in me screams to lunge, to rip Cain apart for his betrayal, for his smug expression, for the way he has turned our people into hostages. But I can't, not with Mira and Hosea being held hostage too. My heart pounds in my chest as Cain turns his back on Talon, issuing orders to these strange wolves. He has locked us out, barring us from the very home we have fought so hard to protect. I can feel Talon’s pain. His fists are already clenched so tightly that his knuckles turn white, his body taut with withheld rage. But what is most painful is the heartbreak I see

TALONI stepped through the broken threshold of the Moonstone packhouse, at this point every nerve in me was on edge. Phoenix is standing at my side, her golden eyes scanning the eerie silence of what is supposed to be our home. Behind us, Hosea, Mira, and the enforcers follow, their steps cautious, their senses alert. The territory feels hollow the moment we cross into it. The absence of the veil, the mystical barrier that has once kept the pack hidden and protected is unsettling. It is as if the very soul of Moonstone has been stripped away, leaving us exposed and vulnerable. “Something is wrong,” Phoenix whispers, gripping my forearm. I nodded, my jaw tightening as we entered the main hall. The air is thick with an unnatural stillness. No sounds of wolves moving through the corridors, no scent of heartfires burning. It’s all just silence here. Then, at the center of the house, standing as if he has been waiting, is Cain. My breath left me in a slow, controlled exhale. Cain sto
