A woman came down from the wooden staircase and looked at the visitors. "What can I do for you sir?" she asked, looking at the unconscious woman in his arms. "What happened to her?" she inquired.
"My wife suddenly passed out," Alpha Callum replied.
"Oh, let's bring her upstairs to my house, so I can help you revive her," the woman offered kindly.
"Is it alright?" Alpha Callum asked. He doesn't want to impose himself on the owner of the house.
"Yes, please. My house is always open to anyone who needs my help," the woman said kindly.
"Thank you," Alpha Callum lifted Clarice's unconscious body and carried her upstairs to the living room of the wooden house.
"Bring her to my room, sir, and put her on the bed," the woman ordered.
Alpha Callum obeyed and gently lowered Clarice's body onto the wooden bed.
"Why did she pass out?" the woman started asking questions. "You guys are not from here, right?" she asked.
"Yes. We came from the city. We are here to visit our son and bring him back to the city. But when we arrived at the house near the river it was already deserted. And when we asked the old man sitting on the rocking chair outside your house about what happened to the people living in the houses near the river... he told us that they all died when the river overflowed and flooded the houses, killing everyone," Alpha Callum explained morosely.
"Oh, that's not true..." the woman said, correcting the false information given by her dementia-afflicted father.
"What do you mean?" Alpha Callum asked, confused.
"Yes, it's true that there are people who died during the heavy flooding, but many people survived," the woman explained.
Hope surged through Alpha Callum's heart. "May I know the survivors' names?" he asked excitedly.
"Um, who are these people you are looking for? Tell me their names. Maybe I know them," the woman asked curiously.
"The couple's names are Marina and Carlos, and the little boy's name is Caden," Alpha Callum said.
The woman smiled. "They are alive. They survived the flooding!"
Alpha Callum smiled in elation. His heart was overflowing with happiness. "May I know their whereabouts?" he asked excitedly.
"The survivors are currently staying at the basketball court while village officials are still debating where to relocate them. They are not allowed to go back to their houses near the river because flooding might occur again in the future," the woman elaborated further.
"Madam, can you take us to the basketball court, please?" he asked politely.
"Sure!" the woman replied. "I'm sorry for the false alarm. The old man outside is my father. He has dementia. Please forgive him. He didn't mean it," she apologized.
"It's okay. It's not his fault at all." Alpha Callum finally understood the reason why the old man gave them false information.
Clarice stirred, and her eyes flew open. Remembering what had happened, she flew into Alpha Callum's arms and began sobbing hysterically. "Please tell me, our son is not dead yet. I can't accept that Caden is already dead! I just can't!" she sobbed. Her distraught voice filled the room.
Alpha Callum rubbed Clarice's back gently. "Shh, stop crying. I have good news for you. Marina and her husband, including our son, are still alive. They are currently housed in the basketball court, waiting for relocation," he said joyously.
"Is this true?" Clarice's eyes widened in surprise and shock. "Our son is still alive?" she asked, not wanting to be disappointed again.
"Yes, ma'am, they are safe and alive," the woman interjected.
Clarice finally noticed her surroundings. She was currently lying on a bed in an unfamiliar room. "Where are we? Whose house is this?" she asked, looking at the woman.
"It's Madam's house. The old man outside the house was her father, suffering from dementia. He wasn't telling us the right information. It was Madam who told me that Marina, Carlos and Caden are one of the lucky ones who survived the flooding," Alpha Callum explained. "And she is willing to accompany us to the basketball court to see them," he added.
Clarice smiled at the woman. Huge relief washed over her. "Thank you so much, Madam. I feel relieved now," she said in a grateful tone. Tears of happiness shimmered in her eyes.
"Don't mention it. I'm glad I can help you, guys," the woman said with a smile.
A few minutes later, the woman's sister arrived to take care of her father. The woman boarded the car and accompanied the couple to the basketball court where the temporary evacuation center was being held to house flood survivors.
The basketball court was packed with tents and a bit noisy.
The couple approached the officer in charge of the evacuation center and inquired about Marina and Carlos.
The official accompanied them to tent #5.
Alpha Callum and Clarice entered the tent and saw Marina, holding a weak looking boy in his arms, which was Caden. Her heart was beating rapidly in fear. What's going on with her son? This is not what she envisioned herself seeing.
Marina was surprised to see her cousin enter the tent. Alpha Callum stayed outside the tent because of the tight space inside.
Clarice rushed to her cousin's side. "Marina, what happened to Caden?" she asked anxiously, noticing her son's pale face. He was sleeping at the moment.
Tears glistened in Marina's eyes. "He has a high fever right now. It's been happening for a week now. His fever is on and off. It's usually very high in the evening. I don't know why. We have already given him medicine, but he still has a fever. We can't bring him to the hospital because we don't have money. We lost everything to the flood," she cried in despair.
Clarice hugged her cousin, sympathizing with her dire situation. "Worry no more, we are here to help and get you out of this misery. I'll take care of my son from now on," she said, lifting her son's sleeping form in her arms and planting a kiss on his hot forehead. A mixture of worry and relief gripped her heart.
"Caden is sleeping right now, he will wake up later," Marina said, teary-eyed.
Clarice took a few steps towards Callum and put Caden in his arms. "Hold our son for me. I just need to talk to my cousin for a minute," she said.
"Why does his body feel hot? What's wrong with our son?" he asked worriedly.
"He got a high fever and, despite the medicine they gave him, he's not getting well. One week of recurring high fevers is making me worried. We need to bring him to the nearest hospital before his fever turns serious," Clarice said anxiously.
Alpha Callum planted a kiss on his son's forehead. "Son, from now on, we will take care of you. We will keep you safe, away from danger," he whispered, his words overflowing with love for the son he finally met and held lovingly in his arms. For a moment, his worries and fears melted, and he was overjoyed. Holding his son in his arms made his heart swell with pride.
Back in the tent, the two women can be seen talking to each other.
Clarice hugged her cousin tightly. "Stop crying, don't be sad anymore. We have come to help you and your husband, so worry no more. By the way, where is Carlos?" she asked when she couldn't find him inside the tent.
"He's trying to find a vehicle so we can bring Caden to the hospital," Marina replied, tears glistening in her eyes.
Clarice sighed. "Worry no more, we've got everything covered. We have bought you groceries and will also give you money, so you can start anew. We will help you construct your house. We will return here after bringing Caden to the hospital, okay?"
"OK. Thank you so much!" Marina nodded her head, very much relieved.
"Who is that guy? I never saw him before?" Marina asked curiously, looking at the guy holding Caden in his arms lovingly.
"He's Caden's father. He is the one I told you about before," Clarice answered.
Marina smiled. "Finally! I'm happy for you, cousin."
The women hugged each other.
"Thank you so much for taking good care of my son for a long time. I truly appreciate it," Clarice said gratefully.
"You're welcome. Caden is a good boy. It's a pleasure raising him. Go now and bring him to the hospital so that his high fever will finally stop. I'm deeply worried about his on and off fever, which never seems to stop," Marina said worriedly. "I'll tell Carlos about you when he comes back."
"Alright, we're leaving now. But you have to come with us to the car because we will give you the groceries and the money," Clarice said.
"OK." Marina followed her cousin to the vehicle.
Clarice removed five bags of groceries from the trunk of the car and put them on the ground in front of her cousin. Then she took the thick envelope filled with money from her bag and gave it to Marina. "This money can help you and Carlos start your lives again."
Marina gladly accepted the money because she badly needed it. "Thank you so much for the help, cousin. I appreciate it very much."
"OK. We're leaving now, heading to the nearest hospital so Caden can finally receive the right medicine for his condition." Clarice looked at her companion.
Alpha Callum walked towards Marina and said, "Thank you for taking care of our son. We appreciate your kindness and hard work in raising our son on our behalf," he said sincerely.
Marina smiled. "The pleasure is mine, sir. Caden is a joy to raise," she said. "Guys, go now to the nearest hospital," she said urgently, worrying about Caden's worsening condition.
The couple boarded their vehicle.
Alpha Callum started the engine.
"I'll return after a few days to inform you about Caden's condition," Clarice said, waving at her cousin through the car's window.
Marina nodded her head. "See you soon. Take care and drive safely, guys."
Alpha Callum drove the car, speeding on the path heading back to the open highway, leaving Lashpar Village behind.
"Where shall we go now? To the nearest hospital or back to the farm and let Grandpa treat our son's fever?" Clarice asked Callum.
Alpha Callum pondered Clarice's question for a few seconds. "We will take him to the farm. I think Pops can heal him fast," he said confidently."Yeah, I think so," Clarice agreed."Let's go there now," Alpha Callum said."But the journey is quite long," she protested worriedly, deeply concerned about her son's weak condition. Caden's body was getting hotter in her arms.Alpha Callum smiled. "You forgot that I can teleport you back to the farm house in just a few minutes," he reminded her."Ah, I almost forgot about it. What are we waiting for? Let's do it now!" she said urgently."Wait a minute, I will park the car on the side of the road before we teleport back to the farm house," he said, carefully maneuvering the car into the small clearing beside the road."Why didn't you teleport us to Lashpar Village? Why go through the hassle of a long journey?" she asked."Because my teleportation skill has limits, babe. I can't teleport to a place I have never been before, that's why," he sa
Clarice went upstairs and grabbed a chair, put it near Granpa Eliezer's room and sat on it. She won't be sleeping tonight, she will wait until her son wakes up. She wants to make sure he is okay. She went back to her room, grabbed a book and returned to her spot outside Grandpa's room and started reading the book. She was reading chapter 50 when Lorey exited the room. "Luna, good news. Your son is already awake!" she said happily.Clarice dropped the book on the chair and rushed inside the room. She found Grandpa Eliezer talking to her son."Your mommy is here, son. Don't cry anymore," Grandpa Eliezer said gently, standing up to give way to the mother.Caden looked at his mother. His eyes widened in surprise at seeing her. "Mommyyyyy!"Clarice burst into tears. Tears of happiness rolled down her face. "Baby, you're finally awake! I'm so happy right now," she said in elation, hugging her son tightly, showering his face with kisses."Mom, where are Aunt Marina and Uncle?" Caden asked, c
The following day, early morning, Alpha Callum can be seen dozing on the chair. He opened his eyes wide, refusing to sleep. A few minutes more and everyone will be awake. He can finally go to sleep. He gently rubs his eyes with his hands, trying to stay awake. He started yawning while glancing at the window. The first rays of the sunrise had already penetrated the room.A new day has just begun.A few minutes later, Clarice stirred in her sleep and opened her eyes. She looked at her son still sleeping soundly beside her. She placed her hand on his forehead. His body temperature is already normal to her touch. It looks like the fever has gone for good. She felt immense relief. She glanced at Callum sitting in a chair nearby. "Good morning," she said softly."Good morning, babe," he replied, yawning. She got out of bed. "Get up and sleep on the bed beside our son, so when he opens his eyes, you will be the first person he sees upon waking up."Alpha Callum smiled. "Brilliant idea!" He s
The couple wanted to bring Caden to the lake for a family picnic, eager to give him the taste of family bonding that he had never experienced before in his life.Grandpa Eliezer shook his head. "No, not yet. Let's wait until tomorrow and if his fever no longer returns today, then we can finally declare that he is fully healed. For now, just play with your son inside the safety of our house.""Noted, Doc!" Alpha Callum grinned and gave him a thumb up."Thank you for healing our son, Grandpa. You're the best doctor ever!" Clarice smiled gratefully.Grandpa Eliezer chuckled. "Don't mention it, guys. I'm glad to be of help to my loved ones. I'm a healer and that's what I do."The couple went back to the room upstairs and bonded happily with their son, talking and playing with him, enjoying each other's company.Clarice's heart was overflowing with gladness as she watched the father and son bond together, playing with toys on the wooden floor. After experiencing extreme torment at the hand
That night, Alpha Callum arrives at the farm house before the dinner starts. They gathered around the table to eat their delicious supper."Daddy, where have you been?" Caden asked. "When I woke up you were no longer by my side," he pouted. The adults fell silent, looking at each other.Alpha Callum cleared his throat. "Um, I'm working, son. I have work to do during the daytime, which is why sometimes I can only come here during nighttime," he explained."Ah, okay. Can you bring me to your workplace?" Caden asked again."Sure. Some other time when I'm no longer busy," Alpha Callum replied nervously."OK." Caden said, then he looked at his mother. "Mommy, when can I visit Aunt Marina and Uncle Carlos?" he asked."Soon, son. I'll tell you if we are ready to go back there. But you can only visit them. From now on, you will stay here with me and daddy. Do you understand, son?" Clarice said, ruffling his hair.Caden nodded his head. "Yes, I understand.""Good boy," Clarice smiled."Can I g
The following day, the couple woke up at 7:00 in the morning and discussed their activities for the day."Let's have a picnic at the lake today," Clarice said, eager to visit the lake again."Sure. I'll stay here on the farm the whole day today for the picnic, then tomorrow I'll go back to the mansion to take care of my Alpha duties," Alpha Callum said."OK." Clarice nodded her head. "Um, after the picnic at the lake, can we also go to the shopping mall? All of us? Grandpa and Lorey included. The more, the better," she said excitedly.Alpha Callum went silent for a moment. "Hmm, why not? Let's just wear wigs, both of us, because our situation is complicated. The problem is our son. He might be wondering why we are wearing wigs. He asked questions a lot," he said, chuckling."Yeah. I'm also thinking about the same thing. Um, let's leave things as they are. Maybe we can find a solution to our problem one of these days," Clarice said, smiling.Alpha Callum nodded his head. "Alright, let'
A few days later, Alpha Callum fulfilled his promise. He and Beta Amir return to Lashpar Village via teleportation, bringing with them groceries and relief goods for flood survivors. They arrive at the basketball court where Marina and the rest of the family are currently staying.Marina was overwhelmed with the groceries and help she and the survivors received from visitors.Marina introduced her husband to Alpha Callum. "This is my husband. His name is Carlos," she said. The men greeted each other with a handshake."Thank you so much, sir, for the help. My wife and I appreciate it very much," Carlos said in a grateful tone."We're glad to be of help to you and the other survivors," Alpha Callum replied in a cheerful tone."How is Caden? Is he still in the hospital? Is he okay now?" Marina asked worriedly."Yes, he's fine now. We didn't take him to the hospital. My grandfather is a healer and gave my son herbal medicine to cure his recurring fever. He had no fever the following day,"
The next day.Alpha Callum showed up at the farm with a rental car. He didn't use his own car for safety reasons. When he went upstairs, Clarice was bathing Caden in the bathroom."We are going malling today," Alpha Callum announced in a cheerful tone.Clarice eyed him. "Are you sure?""Yep, I'm dead serious," he said, grinning."OK. Let me finish bathing our son first, then we will talk about it," she said. After Caden finished bathing, they let him play with his toys. The couple sat on the bed, chatting silently through their mind-link while their eyes were glued to their son.'You can't be seen in public with me and Caden. People would wonder why the woman you are malling with is not your wife. It would raise suspicion and create gossip, and before we knew it, the gossip had already reached your wife's ears,' she argued.'No worries, babe. I got everything covered. I have already bought two types of wigs and I also bought eyeglasses for my eyes. No one would recognize me when I'm a
She was transported back in time when she was alone sitting on the sun lounger, enjoying the lovely night, waiting for her husband to arrive with their coffee. Then came the stranger, intentionally dropping his wallet on the floor and her nightmare began...Clarice felt her heart beat frantically when she realized that the stranger was no other than Kaspar. He took her off guard, froze her and lifted her body, throwing her into the water without mercy. When she hit the water she thought she would die. She can't do anything to help herself. She screamed, trying to ask for help, but no sound came out of her mouth. She felt her body falling deeper into the water, but to her surprise she resurfaced in the water again and, out of the corner of her eyes, she saw the cruise ship sailing away without her.Nobody saw her when she fell into the water. No one could help her, even her husband.Horrified by her hopeless situation, she will die alone in the freezing water. Her dead body will be eat
A thousand miles away on a secluded island far from the city and towns, Clarice was wide awake, sitting on her bed in total darkness. She trembled in fear when the door opened. The light coming from outside flooded the dark room. There she is...Demetria, the bloodthirsty vampire, enters the room to feed on her blood again.Clarice trembled in fear. This vampire will feed on her blood again and again, leaving her fearing for her life. She fears that one day she will die and never be able to escape this room alive because this vampire will drain her body dry.Although Demetria saved her from drowning in the dark ocean, she was also feeding on her blood thrice a week.Demetria snapped her hand and light flooded the room. "How are you today, dear?" she asked, coming closer."Please let me go home. My husband and my son are worried about me. They think I have died. Please set me free," Clarice begged desperately, tears flooding her eyes."Dear, I just want to let you know that your husban
Two months later...The distraught Alpha Callum arrives at his Grandpa's farm, broken hearted."Gramps, I don't know if I still continue searching for Clarice in the ocean. We still can't find her no matter how hard we try," he said miserably."I know, son, it's very tough on your part. I wish I could help you. I'm also sad and devastated by Clarice's disappearance. You have already run a missing person ad in every major newspaper in the whole country but no one has found Clarice's body yet. The worst thing I can think of is the reason why we can't find her body is because some sharks found her first and we both know what it means." Grandpa Eliezer said sadly, patting his grandson's shoulder to comfort him.Alpha Callum wept quietly. "I don't know if she's already dead or alive. If she drowns, I just want to find her body and give her a proper burial. Is that so much to ask?" he asked dejectedly.Grandpa Eliezer sighed heavily. Watching the misery in his grandson's eyes filled his hea
Kaspar finished his one-week-long holiday on the cruise ship, making sure that Clarice is already buried in the deep ocean with no chance of coming back to the land of the living. He watched in satisfaction as Alpha Callum desperately searched every room and cabin to find his beloved wife. But he failed to find her.Kaspar was lucky that heaven favored him because the CCTV camera in the couple's favorite spot malfunctioned on the same day he succeeded in completing his evil plan.Since no evidence can point to him as the culprit of Clarice's disappearance, he enjoyed his remaining days on the cruise ship, unbothered.Aurelia and Viviana were ecstatic after he informed them that Clarice was finally gone and would never come back again. He told them that Clarice drowned in the deep ocean and her body had probably been eaten already by sharks and other dangerous animals inhabiting the deep blue sea.Carrying his travel luggage, he left the ship in high spirits, happy with his accomplishm
Alpha Callum arrives at an empty farm house. No one was around, so he put his bags in the corner and settled on the sofa, waiting for his grandfather to arrive. While waiting, he re-imagined what happened to his holiday vacation with his wife on the cruise ship.No matter what others said, he didn't believe Clarice had jumped into the ocean willingly. Someone had thrown her into the water. His wife was happy with him. She would never resort to suicide because they were blessed with a loving and peaceful marriage and had a son together. After searching the ship from top to bottom, he finally gave up on his suspicion that Clarice had caught a serial killer's attention and was abducted on board.Clarice definitely fell in the water because there was no way she could vanish from the cruise ship without leaving any trace behind. He was in deep thoughts when the door opened and Grandpa Eliezer entered the house. He was surprised to see Alpha Callum in his house looking distraught. He knew i
He couldn't stand the tense silence anymore. The agony of losing his wife was creating havoc in his system, making him desperate. It's either Clarice fell into the water or she was held captive by someone and held in their cabins. He needed to know what truly happened to her, or he would go crazy. He left the room and went to find the captain of the cruise ship."I want to find my wife. I want to know if there is a killer on the loose boarding this ship, or if she has fallen into the sea. I want clear answers!" he demanded angrily. The captain fell silent for a moment, then spoke, "What do you want to do, sir?""I want to search every single room on this ship to make sure no one is keeping my wife in his or her room. That's the only way I can be assured that she was not taken advantage of and not imprisoned in someone's room and held against her will," he said accusingly. The captain scratched his head in dismay. "Um, I have to warn you, sir. Not everyone will allow their rooms to be
Days passed by quickly. On the fourth day of the couple's wedding anniversary, they had a romantic candle-lit dinner inside their suite and made love all night long.On the 5th day, the couple spends their time in the pool area of the cruise ship and enjoys the jacuzzi along with other couples. They watched skaters on the skating rink for one hour. They also tried bumper cars, bikes high above the ship, and skydiving simulators. Then they proceeded to try a roller coaster ride, took the plunge and loved the adrenaline-pumping, exhilarating experience. They were having so much fun.The couple also went to watch a show in the theater. That night, the couple watched movies in their room and after finishing watching the movies, they left their suite and went to their favorite spot to enjoy the lovely night. They settled comfortably in the sun lounger and admired the star-filled sky."I want to drink chocolate coffee," Clarice said.Alpha Callum stood up. "Alright, let's go and buy coffee.
In his room on the second deck of the cruise ship, Kaspar put blue eye contact lenses in his eyes. Next, he picked up the black curly wig and placed it securely on his head. After a few minutes of fixing his appearance in the mirror, he was finally satisfied.Even if he bumps into the couple, they can't easily recognize him because his disguise looks authentic. As long as he doesn't talk to them face to face, his charade won't be discovered. Clarice may remember his original voice, but if they accidentally bump into each other with no choice, he will just use a fake voice to talk to her.For now, he would just follow the couple around at a safe distance. He doesn't want them to notice that he is following their every movement. He preferred to throw Clarice into the sea if he spotted her alone without her husband around.Putting poison in her food would be difficult because that would need perfect execution and her husband was always around to complicate things, and he had no weapon th
Days pass quickly. The day has finally come for the couple to embark on their one-week cruise ship holiday. The couple bid goodbye to their son Caden, Beta Amir and Lorey."We will bring you along next time, son," Alpha Callum said, planting a kiss on his son's head, ruffling his hair affectionately.Clarice hugged her son tightly, kissing his cheeks lovingly. "I'm going to miss you baby. I love you so much. See you soon!" she said teary-eyed."I love you Mommy and Daddy. Enjoy sailing on the ship," Caden replied, smiling brightly.Alpha Callum gives last minute instructions to his assistant, Beta Amir. "If something comes up, call me right away or send me a message on my email. Alternately, seek Grandpa's help. Do you understand?" he said.Beta Amir nodded his head. "Copy, Alpha. Rest assured I will take care of everything while you are away. You and your wife deserve a fabulous break away from home. Enjoy sailing on a ship."After the couple finished saying their goodbyes, they boar
