Anna woke up and stretched, feeling relaxed and satiated. She remembered the wonderful, perfect farewell evening she had spent with Adam, and looked away. Adam was no longer there. She looked at the radio alarm clock on the night stand and saw that it was already eight o'clock in the morning. She got up leisurely and went to the shower. Then she went into the dining room and there was no one else there, but the table with the leftovers showed that it had been busy. Anna went into the kitchen. She greeted the cook and sat down after pouring herself a cup of coffee. “Where's Adam, Judith?” Anna asked without interest. The cook stared at her for a while, recriminating, before answering. “He's gone out.” She said, looking away and starting to work the stove. “Will he be long? Do you know where he went?” “That, I can't say.” She replied, looking at the pans. Anna was too anxious to make the call to her family to realize that the cook's face and eyes indicated danger. She
Anna swallowed, she knew he was willing to make good on his threat, and in tears, she began to dig. With every step she took, she knew her end was nearer. She had heard of the sentence 'climb the hill' more than a thousand times, but she never thought it would happen to herself. She didn't stop digging, but she could see that Adam was getting impatient. He shouted to one of his men, who came running to meet him. “Help her dig.” He ordered, pointing at Anna with his chin and lowering his rifle. “Yes, boss. I'll go inside and get a shovel.” The man ran out of the house, and Adam's cell phone rang. He reached into his pocket for it, keeping an eye on it and pointing the rifle at Anna. “Mycon decided that way? Yes. Obey him. He speaks in my name. I'll be joining you soon. Summon all my allies from the region, and the werewolves who came, sent by Caricature.” He said and hung up his cell phone, turning to Anna. “It seems that fate has chosen my way of dying. We've been invaded by
He approached a familiar body slowly, and Adonis came running to meet him. But he couldn't hear what he was saying. All he could see was Alexander's body stretched out on the ground, with a lot of blood around him. His anger was great. Adonis tried to stop him, but Adam sidestepped him, entered his enemies' field of vision and, raising his gun, fired everywhere he saw an insignia representing his enemy's house. But the creatures didn't flinch at the shots fired from the revolver, just as he didn't even seem to notice that he was being pelted with silver ammunition. Adam dropped the gun, and with his war howl, everyone heard a crash, like thunder, followed by a fast and furious trot and the creatures looked around. Suddenly, wolves and werewolves surrounded them. Adam began to sharpen his huge claws on each other and was followed and recognized by the other werewolves. And they attacked the creatures mercilessly. The blood splattered everywhere was not that of any werewolf. In
Genevieve saw the trickle of blood running down Anna's neck and crossed her arms. She could stop Maxwell from killing Anna by sucking all her blood, but she knew she shouldn't. He needed to control himself. He needed to control himself, since he was the equivalent of the Alpha for werewolves, for vampires. Only Maxwell could turn a human into a vampire. But he preferred humans to be just a source of nourishment. She realized that he found it difficult to stop, because the frenzy that overcame them every time they drank human blood was almost impossible to stop, so Maxwell forbade them to feed more than once a week, or the world would be littered with human corpses, because their thirst was great, and each vampire could suck the blood of more than fifty humans in a day and not be completely satiated. However, the vampires, despite fearing and recognizing Maxwell's authority, were not as loyal as the werewolves, and were much braver, as they didn't mind dying if they were disco
Maxwell couldn't feel anything. He just prayed that Anna and her brother would come out of this with no memory of each other or of what had happened that day. Bonnie was nobody. She didn't care what happened to her, and her presence there meant nothing. Maxwell couldn't even feel anger. So he remained silent, ignoring her. “I know you think my words are mere speculation... But I have people here, inside the hospital, who can put an end to Anna, without any suspicion falling on me... I've heard that she's very ill. She hardly has a heartbeat...” Adonis got up from the table he was occupying on the other side of the cafeteria, tired of hearing Bonnie's curses and threats, and approached her, taking her by the arm, forcing her to stand up. “Don't fight it, Bonnie. Maxwell didn't reveal our secret to you out of the blue. He revealed it because he knows that we were all listening and we can't allow anyone who has this information to leave us alive.” He said and dragged her out
“Do you really think Adam will give up on Anna?” “He already has. By the time he took her away to be buried, he must have had a wonderful life without her. He's finally come to terms with it.” “Did you put something in my drink?” Maxwell asked, suddenly feeling very sleepy. “Yes, you fucking vampire! I haven't forgotten anything I saw when you took Anna to the car. Your trick didn't work on me, because I was under the influence of the Alpha's authority. I think that prevented me from being manipulated. All the werewolves were trapped in the Alpha's mind at that moment. I know what Anna is going to be. I won't talk about it with anyone, because I like her, and the Alpha would kill me if I revealed his brother's secret. Don't worry, I won't hurt you. You need to sleep, and be well enough to go and see Anna tomorrow. I'm leaving. I'll take refuge with Anna's father. Adam will hunt me down. I know him. He'll kill everyone who was prepared to help Anna escape, and he knows I'm o
He found Adam's room and entered through the window, after checking that there was no one else there. That's what he thought at first, but after a while, he realized that there was a man sitting inside, in a chair, with a serious look on his face, and as soon as he entered, the man stared at him in astonishment, but then seemed to remember, and went back to his frown. Maxwell didn't know it, but he had just met Caricature. He was pleased to hear that they were looking after Adam's safety. He approached the bed, and Adam looked at him with confusion in his eyes. Maxwell sat down in a chair by his bedside and let him recognize him first. “Have you come to kill me, Max?” He asked debauched. “You should have the decency to wear your own clothes for that.” Maxwell smiled amusedly. “I see you're all right.” Maxwell took Adam's hand and held it tightly. “You were always good when you wanted to scare me, but I think this time you overdid it a bit. I got a huge fright.” “Two scares
“Thanks, Maxwell. Don't worry about Bonnie. She can't get to me. I know she's the one who sent the enemy faction to invade the city. And then she triggered the vampires, thus shooting herself in the foot. The two factions joined forces on the battlefield against their common enemy, and now they want to join us, and they also want Bonnie dead. You never told me that vampires hated Dester. As for Bonnie, she's in hiding. And only I know where she is.” “I always knew about the vampires' antagonism towards Dester, but they hate you too, and so I believed it was a feud between species. I slowed them down, Adam. Now, Genevieve is after every one of them who sensed my betrayal, and killing them. I hope you know what you're doing... Now, I need to go and see Anna.” “Go... And tell her how sorry I am for what I did to her. Not just yesterday, but everything. I'm sorry for the day I forced her into bed with me and made her my lover. I could conquer her, and I didn't want to waste time, a
