Chapter 17

Flashback…

That first day I saw her as I walked into class, I distinctly recall inhaling the most exquisite perfume I had ever encountered. After spending some time with my friends, I followed the aroma with my nose and eventually came upon her. Despite the fact that the new girl wore dorky glasses, had braces, and had a poor sense of fashion, she stole my breath away. I'd never seen someone so gorgeous before, and I wanted to claim her as my own.

Prior to my approaching her, my companions saw me glancing at her and immediately began mind-linking to me about how she was a human they were planning to get rid of in the near future and making amusing jokes about how she looked.

I wanted to tell them that they couldn't make fun of her, but when I heard the word 'human,' I felt a little frozen in my tracks. I had then made up my mind and determined that I didn't want anything to do with her any more... Humans, in my opinion, were feeble.
