Half an hour later, the three of them entered a high-class seafood restaurant named ‘Haifuzi’. The reason this restaurant was known as the top seafood restaurant in Tiandu was not for the number of customers they hosted, but the exorbitant price of their food.

Of course, there was a valid reason for the sky-high charges. All of the seafood that Haifuzi used was caught fresh and from their natural habitat. The restaurant specifically hired a group of skilled fishermen to catch their seafood. After bringing the catch to the shore, they would only select the best to be served at the dining table.

Secondly, there were sixty top chefs in Haifuzi. Each state had two chefs that were hired to tailor their seafood dishes to their local flavor. For example, Sichuan would have spicier dishes, while Hong Kong food would have a milder taste.

On top of that, there were fourteen international chefs that would customize any flavor of seafood as the customers desired.

Xiao Yihan booked a table in advance. Even though he did not manage to get a room, their table was quite decent, situated by the window.

As it was mealtime, the restaurant was packed with people. Xiao Yihan passed the menu to Jian Jianan enthusiastically, “Nannan, go ahead and order!”

“Okay!” Jian Jianan took the menu from him and did not hold back. She ordered the most expensive dishes from the menu and side-eyed Xiao Yihan to watch his reaction.

Xiao Yihan did not look very pleased since he was only a doctor who had just finished his internship. His monthly pay was not very high.

It would cost him his entire month’s pay to afford a meal in Haifuzi.

Nevertheless, if he could make Jian Jianan his, he would never ever have to worry about money anymore. As the saying goes ‘nothing comes without a price’, and he was willing to pay for it!

Jian Jianan’s beautiful mouth curved into a mocking arc. In the past, she would pay for everything whenever she went out with Xiao Yihan. She was unwilling to spend a single cent of Xiao Yihan’s money, being fully aware of his financial situation. It was only at the last moments before her death did she know that he did not care how well she treated him - and to think he criticized her for being stingy!

Very well, she was curious to see how generous he could be this time.

Xiao Yihan did not react much, but Qi Xiaorou, who was sitting beside them, started to feel unsettled.

“Sis, I think you’re almost done with your order. There’s only three of us. I’m worried that there’ll be too much food for us.”

“Do you doubt my stomach, or are you trying to save up for your Brother Xiao?”

Xiao Yihan’s heart sank. Qi Xiaorou’s face showed a hint of nervousness when she replied, “It’s neither. I’m just worried that we won’t finish the food and it’ll go to waste!”

Jian Jianan chuckled, “There’s nothing to worry about. I haven’t seen Yihan in more than a week. I’m in a really good mood after seeing him again since my escape from death.”

As she spoke, Jian Jianan turned towards Xiao Yihan and stared at him intensely, “Yihan, you know that I have a big appetite when I’m happy. You won’t be disgusted, right?”

Jian Jianan had never once shown Xiao Yihan such coquettish behavior. Hearing Jian Jianan’s flirty tone, Xiao Yihan’s heart skipped a beat.

Xiao Yihan looked at Jian Jianan deeply. Undoubtedly, she had the prettiest features. Her face was not like the current trend of V-shaped faces, but rather an oval face that could be cute or entrancing, depending on the situation.

That said nothing of her captivating pair of peach blossom eyes that formed a crescent when she smiled.

Xiao Yihan had gotten lost in the moment while staring at her. Why had he not noticed how alluring Jian Jianan’s was before?

Qi Xiaorou was seated right across Jian Jianan and Xiao Yihan. She saw the affectionate exchange between their eyes and the way Xiao Yihan’s gaze was transfixed on Jian Jianan’s face. Anger and hatred was built up in her heart.

But, she was overwhelmed with fear and panic. Could it be possible for Xiao Yihan to fall for Jian Jianan after her suicide attempt?

Qi Xiaorou shook in fear and thought to herself, ‘No! It can’t be! Xiao Yihan is hers, he belongs only to her and her alone!’

Qi Xiaorou squeezed a smile onto her face when she thought of it and said, “Sis, Brother Xiao will never be disgusted by you. It’s great that you have a good appetite. You’ll need all these extra nutrients after your incident!”

Qi Xiaorou’s words were enough to return Xiao Yihan’s attention towards her. She glanced at Xiao Yihan melancholically, devastation on her face.

Xiao Yihan realized that he was almost entranced by Jian Jianan just moments ago. His eyebrows began to twitch uncontrollably. He returned a comforting gaze to Qi Xiaorou before saying with a smile, “Uhm, you should eat more.”
