Chapter 22 Kneel and Apologize

Evelyn was stunned.

"Why? Why her?! I have been your fan for three years..." she muttered helplessly.

Alice pursed her lips. Fearing that Evelyn would do something extreme, she pulled the latter aside. The crowd looked away, bursting into hushed whispers.

"I knew she was lying. She’s not Albert’s friend."

"I feel sorry for Miss Nolan. I thought she’d make us approach Albert, but she did it herself. Miss Evelyn tried to take credit for it, too. Poor Miss Nolan!"

Albert heard their whispers, and turned to Benjamin. "She’s your daughter. Don’t you have anything to say?"

Benjamin glared furiously at his daughter. It was foolish of him to trust her! He thought she was competent for once, but in the end, Evelyn was still Evelyn. She couldn’t do anything right. How ironic!

If he got demoted because of this, his plan to transfer the company funds overseas would fail. He had to do something!
