Chapter 28 If Only She Wasn't So Reckless

"Albert, my parents' death anniversary is in a few days."

The car slowly came to a stop at a red light, as a family of three walked across the pavement before them. Melody couldn't help but feel envious as her gaze followed the three.

'If my parents were still alive, we could be taking a walk right now, too.'

Albert's heart sank to his stomach when he saw her this way, a lump forming in his throat. He was quite close with her parents, too. He initially intended to comfort Melody, but no words came out of his mouth.

Instead, he said, "Mr. and Mrs. Nolan had single-handedly founded the Nolan Enterprise. It's their legacy. I'm sure they'd be proud knowing that you've taken charge now."

Melody nodded. 'Yeah. If Mom and Dad could see me now, they'd be so proud of me!'

Albert then remembered something, and his eyes glistened with glee. He turned to Melody and said, "Didn't Mr. Nolan like paintings? There's an art exhibition recently. We can go together and pick a piece for him."
