Kate's POV
The most satisfying expression is the look of disbelief on the face of someone who thinks you'll crumble without them, only to see you thriving beyond their wildest expectations. "K-Kate?" Kyle's voice wavers, his face contorting in confusion as he leans closer. "Where have you been? I've been searching for you everywhere." I smile, watching his growing bewilderment. Searching for me? For what? Does he know the truth? Has Pamela already broken up with him? Just then, Pamela rushes up beside him. "Babe, why did you leave me alone so suddenly?" she asks, her voice tinged with concern. I bite back a laugh. Of course, he’s still with her. He’s just an asshole who will never change. Pamela doesn’t notice me at first, but when she does, her face twists in shock. "Sister! What are you doing here? I thought you died, that you committed suicide... but you're alive? What a relief," she says bitterly, though it’s clear she isn’t relieved at all. "Yes, sister, I’m very much alive," I reply. Her gaze shifting to the man on the floor. Pamela recognizes him instantly. she rushed beside him and asked him what's wrong, the pervert fed her the lies he told Kyle. her eyes flare with anger. "How dare you!" she spits. "Is this your pathetic way of getting back at Kyle because he divorced you for your dirty act? Is that why you went after his cousin?" I scoff, raising an eyebrow. "I don’t even know who the fuck he is." Kyle’s voice cuts through the tension, sharp and disbelieving. "Kate, did you just say fuck? What’s come over you? Where did you go after that day, and why are you acting like this? You didn’t have to pick on my cousin. You should have just come to comfort me!" I let out a bitter laugh, shaking my head. "Comfort you? Why on earth would I? As I said, I don’t know who the hell he is, and I have no reason to comfort a fool." "What?!" Pamela’s face contorts in disbelief as she turns to Kyle. "I told you, that day, a man came to pick her up—the same man she cheated on you with!" Kyle’s voice falters. "Is that true, Kate?" I meet his gaze, unflinching. "Yes, a man picked me up. Is that a problem?" I see his fists clench, anger flashing in his eyes. I almost smile at the sight. "Look, Kate, you wronged my cousin, and it won't be easy on you if he reports you. Apologize to him, and I’ll see how to handle this," he says, his voice laced with irritation. I chuckle, shaking my head. "I’d rather count grains of sand than apologize to a perverted psychopath. If anyone should apologize, it’s him." Kyle’s patience is wearing thin. "I don’t know where this newfound confidence and foolish bravery came from, but it won’t do you any good. Just apologize, Kate." His words are grating on my nerves. How has he gone from being the man I loved to this pathetic shell? "I’m not apologizing, and there’s nothing anyone can do about it," I retort. Suddenly, the cousin lunges at me, fury in his eyes, but before he can strike, Kyle grabs his arm, stopping him. "Brother, what are you doing?" the cousin cries out, his voice desperate. "Do you want to cause more problems for the family?" Kyle twists his arm and shoves him away. "You always cause trouble and expect us to clean up after you!" Pamela steps forward, her voice dripping with venom. "Kyle, are you seriously siding with this ex-bitch over your cousin? How can you be so unfair?" Kyle remains silent, and I can’t help but wonder why he stopped his cousin. Is it because of me? Not that it matters. I turn to Helena, who has been silently watching the exchange. "Let’s go," I say, brushing past them without another word. Pamela’s voice follows me, sharp and mocking. "Wait! Do you even know where you’re going? This showroom isn’t for lowlife orphans like you!" I pause for a moment, offering her a smirk over my shoulder, before walking confidently into the showroom. The showroom is all luxury—marble floors, glass walls, and ambient lighting showcasing high-end designer items. It’s sleek, elegant, and exclusive, a space where only the elite belong. Cars line up in rows and columns, all sparkling and eye-catching. Wow, this is my first time in a car showroom. I walk elegantly to the female staff member and tell her I want to get a Tesla. "Oh, yeah... but currently, we have only one Tesla, the S Plaid, the highest model, and it's $200,000," she says. That’s the very model I want to buy. I tell her that, and she asks for payment. Helena is about to bring out her card when Pamela’s voice chimes in from behind. "Look who we have here... I think you’re really here to buy a car!" she says. I don’t bother to answer her. But the staff member, who is supposed to attend to us, happens to know Kyle and is very excited to see him. "Sir, you are welcome! Please, how can I help you?" she asks. "We want to get a car—a Bugatti for $50,000," he says, full of pride. "You hear that?" Pamela again. "Did you just hear that? You can never in your life afford that! You’re a poor, lowlife and wretched orphan. I know you’re just here to bluff or buy a second-hand car for $5,000, given to you by some asshole as compensation for letting him fuck you!"Kate's POV:Pamela is still as annoying as ever, always pulling her manipulative strings, and somehow, Kyle is still caught in her web. The fact that he can’t see through her schemes is both laughable and tragic. She’s been trying to overshadow me for years, stealing my spotlight whenever she can. I used to let her, shrinking back to keep the peace. But not anymore.I face her, a sharp smile on my face, masking the fury bubbling beneath the surface. “All this fuss over a $50,000 car? Wow, Pamela, you must have it bad to be so shocked. You’re beautiful, but dating a guy who thinks that’s all you’re worth? Wild.”Her face twists with rage, her eyes wide and neck veins bulging. “You think $50,000 is nothing? I swear, you’ve never seen that much money in your life!”Of course, Kyle chimes in, like clockwork. “Kate, there’s no need to brag just to impress me. I don’t care.”I raise an eyebrow, my voice calm but biting. “Impressing you would be the stupidest thing I could do, Kyle. You’re n
**Kate's POV** Before I can even react, the unknown man pulls me in and kisses me. His lips press against mine, and for a few seconds, I freeze, unsure of what to do. Push him away? No. I shouldn't. As much as I don’t know him, I love the sight of Kyle’s face—shocked, pained, and filled with regret. The man finally pulls away, keeping hold of my hand, and says with a smirk, "I’ve missed you." But his eyes aren’t on me—they’re looking past me, like there’s something, or someone, behind me. Kyle, clearly unable to hide his jealousy, blurts out, “So, Kate… you’re already with another man?” Pamela jumps in, of course, never one to miss an opportunity to attack. “Have you no shame? After committing adultery, killing your baby, and running away, you're already with another man in just two weeks?” Kyle sneers, his eyes dark with contempt. “You’re disgusting. No woman should be like you!” That’s when the unknown man intervenes, his voice cold but calm. “What’s going on here? What
**Kyle's POV**Oh shit! I’ve messed up. I can’t believe I’m the one who led Kate to her divorce. And today, after seeing her, I don’t even know how I feel. She’s changed so much. Kate has become someone I never imagined—so confident, so damn beautiful. That’s undeniable. And her attitude? Badass. As I sit in the car, driving toward my grandfather’s house, my mind keeps drifting back to her. Pamela, sitting beside me, won’t stop complaining about being humiliated by Kate. She also won’t shut up about the car I didn’t buy. Her whining is getting under my skin, but I tune her out as best I can.“Kyle, you did wrong!” she suddenly shouts, snapping me out of my thoughts. I slam on the brakes in frustration, and we both lurch forward slightly.“Please, step out now,” I say, my voice calm but sharp.“What? Why… why are you acting cold toward me all of a sudden? I’m sorry if what I said made you angry. I didn’t mean it,” she pleads, reaching out to hold my hand gently.I turn to look at her a
**Kate's POV:** Today is the day I’m finally introduced to the rest of the family. I’ve met a few members before, but not all of them. I know Charlie, my cousin—easily the most compassionate person I’ve ever known. He has this rare ability to make me believe that maybe, just maybe, there are still good men out there. Kyle, however, definitely isn’t one of them, also was the asshole man I met today. As I step out of the car, the towering six-story building of the Hera Private Suites looms before me. Most of the family resides here, and my stomach churns with nervous anticipation. The bodyguards stationed at the entrance bow as I approach, adding to the formality of the moment. Just then, Charlie emerges from the doors, his familiar, warm presence bringing an instant sense of relief. "Wow, my beautiful cousin is looking dazzling today. Seriously, you’re making the rest of the ladies look bad," Charlie remarks with a playful grin. Charlie is delicate in appearance, almost fragile, wit
**Kate's POV**A month to prove myself worthy! To be frank, I don’t know much about running a company, but Dylan’s attack on me feels deeply personal. It’s as if the family members have discussed it beforehand, showing only a facade of commitment.I sigh heavily as I walk out of the building. The cool evening air does little to calm me. Other family members trail out behind, each offering a shallow bow before making their exit. Dylan approaches with a smirk that makes my stomach churn. “Bye, your empress. I wish you good luck for the month,” he says, his dark eyes glinting with something cold and malicious. His words are a blatant provocation, and his gaze seems to dig under my skin. I loathe the way he looks at me. As he turns to leave, I call out sharply, “Stop.”He turns back, the smirk never fading. “What is it, your empress?”“I need you to gather all the files on high-reputation companies nearby and report them to me,” I demand, trying to keep my voice steady. His eyebrow raises
---**Kate’s POV**What the heck is this man doing here? I know this motherfucker is not a good man. He’s just another creep, a pervert who watches me pee. I can't take this!"What the hell do you think you're doing... in the women's toilet?" I yell at him, my voice trembling with rage and disgust. He casually removes the woman’s jacket he wears and slips off the shoes. His face twists with irritation. "Why can't you mind your own motherfucking business?" he snaps, attempting to turn away, but I’m not going to let him off that easily. I step in his path, blocking him.“You're joking, right? You think you can leave after peeping on me? You dressed like a woman just to watch ladies get naked!” I shriek at him, my face flushing with fury. His eyes widen in panic, and he quickly tries to shush me. "Shhh! Who are you, and why can’t you just mind your own business? It's not what you're thinking."“Then what is it?” I demand, crossing my arms, my glare sharp as daggers.“Oh God, I'm in a tou
Kate's POV Even though I am the one who initiates the kiss, this man is overdoing it. His hands move to my buttocks, pulling me closer. My body tenses. How far is he going to take this? I wonder. I don’t need to react.Because this will make Kyle snap back to his senses. After a few moments, I break the kiss, pulling away.I turn to face Kyle. His expression—ugh!—it sweetened me. He looks at me as if I’m a parasite, draining the life out of him."So, hear me out. Don't ever jump into my business again!" I sneer, my eyes narrowing in anger."You don’t even atone for what you did. You don't care about what you've done to my heart!" Kyle's voice rises, his face flushed with rage. "You don't care at all! You’re just... you're just a whore!" he shouts, his eyes wild with fury.I scoff. "Ugh... I told you, I did nothing—nothing!" I snap, throwing my hands in the air. Then I pause, catching my breath. "I have nothing more to say to you. We're done, and that's final. Okay?"Kyle just stands
Kate's POV I beam with joy, my baby’s kicks a reminder of the new life growing inside me. In just two weeks, I will finally hold my little bundle of joy in my arms, surrounded by the love and support of my devoted husband.I feel grateful for this perfect life. Finally, my sacrifice for Kyle pays off; I rejected many wealthy men for him. When my parents suggeted that I should marrry him through a contract marriage, I was all over the moon, I finally get him, the man I always wanted. He is so devoted and trustworthy that I handed all my wealth from my career to him and put a stop on it to become his full housewife. I don’t regret it.As I enter the kitchen, my pregnancy doesn’t slow me down. I am determined to cook a delicious meal for my husband, the love of my life.Carefully, I place the foodstuffs on the counter, my hands cradling my belly. Suddenly, a disturbing sound pierces the air. “Yeah, baby, go deeper… deeper… faster… faster…” The moans grow louder, and my heart sinks.I fr
