After that incident, I made sure to stay away from Zaria and her allies. I just wanted to be able to settle everything before I travel out of the country. I needed my child to never see her ugly face ever in his or her life. It's been three weeks but there wasn't any noticeable change in my body. Although frantically, I do go for scans to check if my baby is healthy. And it was always a positive result. My baby was here to stay. The baby represented a light in my dark world. I wouldn't allow anybody to quench that light.
"Your dress looks so nice, luna Cora." Amy blushed as she stared at my perfectly shaped gown. I was there for my first fitting because of the upcoming Tengen Awards. It was a gathering of elites from different parts of the country where the best of the best are chosen and this year, I was invited. Well, Liam too was invited. Kill joy. But I was glad we weren't going there together. We were at the liberty of bringing someone to the party. "You look stunning, my lady. You will be the talk of the party." The designer smiled widely and satisfactorily at her work. "Thank you, Evelyn. You did a very great job." I encouraged her. It was just two days to the party and my outfit wasn't ready but I trusted Evelyn. On that day, my clothes, shoes, and jewelry arrived. I was quite ecstatic about this meeting because of the great minds I would meet. I might even meet some people who might be willing to invest in my company. I squealed at that thought and hurriedly had my bath. My makeup artist came over and in less than four hours, I was ready for the big night. I was escorted to the car by the handsome beta, Zion, who was my designated driver. He didn't stop complimenting me until we got to the venue. It was already crowded with people and paparazzi. Light cameras flashed everywhere. I had only seen things like that on TV. But today, I was going to live it. My driver opened the door and helped me out. I already saw Liam and Zaria being ushered in the loud cheers. It was a good thing the business world didn't know we were married. It would have been detrimental to my upcoming career. I rolled my eyes at Zaria's drama and began walking. Soon, all attention was on me and everyone forgot they ever existed. I waved at my cheering fans and posed for the camera. I was flawless. I walked past the two of them like they weren't there and after returning the card given to me, I was ushered in. I was taken to one of the middle seats where I sat gracefully after thanking the usher. The place wasn't filled up yet and the hall was as luminous as ever. I hoped to join the trillion-dollar club so I could be invited to other award nights such as this. An hour or so later, the event started. I clapped and cheered for those who were called up for the awards. But when Liam was called, my hands went numb. I could see Zaria grinning from ear to ear as she stood beside Liam. He even kissed her cheek, making the hall a bit noisy. I looked around to see people gushing over them. If only they knew how terrible they were. I was supposed to be the one by his side. While we waited for the next set of awards to be called, a man walked up to me. His demeanor was calm and he looked like a reasonable person. He offered me a drink but I politely refused. "Are you here alone?" He asked, his eyes roaming my body. Did I look like some kind of toy anybody would play with? "Yes, I'm here alone. How may I help you, sir?" I asked calmly. "You could help me by accepting my compliment. You look beautiful, fine lady. My name is Damien." He stretched his hand for a shake and I took it, hesitantly. He raised the back of my palm to his lips and placed a light kiss on it. I felt quite flattered by his gesture and just smiled lightly. "And yours?" He enquired. "Cora," I replied. He dropped my hand and I looked around to make sure nobody saw that. But it wouldn't be bad if the news were to carry it. It would be part of my revenge. "Nice to meet you, Cora. Maybe we could meet up some other time. Here's my business card," He slipped his card to me and stood up, adjusting his suit. "Call me," He winked at me and with a slight bow, he left. I didn't realize that I was still smiling until Liam appeared in front of me. "Why are you smiling like that?" He growled slowly. I pretended as though he wasn't there. He walked away when I didn't say anything. I hissed and continued paying attention to the MC. But deep down, I was upset. I was furious. I needed to calm my nerves. I walked over to the food table and grabbed a canned drink. I slurped from it and my mood lightened up because of the taste. But my joyous moment didn't last because the she-devil walked up to me. "Enjoying the night with your new man?" She laughed as she grabbed a drink too. "I should be asking you that, whore. Do you like your new world? I mean, you should like your new life. After all, you were in the dumpster fucking every guy that comes your way." I smirked. She fiercely walked over to my side, standing opposite me. "I will not stand here and watch you insult me, you hear that? You are nothing, Cora and you will always be nothing. You are nothing but a barren woman." As soon as she finished her statement, she splashed her drink all over my face. My hands moved too and slapped her hard across the face. She screamed and began crying. Liam rushed to her. "She poured the drink on herself and slapped me. I told you she would never accept me. She wants to kill my child. She doesn't like me, Liam. She wants to kill me and our baby." She cried bitterly as she explained. Such a lying whore. Before I could utter any more words, Liam stood up and hit me. It was so fast that I didn't see it coming. A few staff gathered around, staring at the embarrassing scene. I couldn't contain my tears at that point. But I wiped them quickly. He had never laid his hands on me but he did because of this lying bitch. It hurt that he didn't bother to know what really transpired between us. He believed whatever she said. "I've had enough of your attitude, Cora. You wanted to leave, right? Fine. Leave and never come back. Never you dare show your face in my pack. You are hereby banished from the Full moon pack." He said authoritatively. I saw Zaria smile from the ground where she sat. Such a shameless girl. "I've dedicated my entire life to you. I didn't do what girls my age did because all I wanted was to please you. We got married when I turned eighteen and I've stuck by you since then. And this is how you pay me back for all my sacrifices." I saw a few lights flashing from the window. But that didn't stop me. They should carry it to the ends of the earth. "You cheated on me, got my former best friend pregnant, and hid it for three months. You didn't even plan on telling me until I found out myself. This thing has been lying and turning you around. Heck, I'm one hundred percent sure that the child is carrying is not yours." "But don't worry. I will leave your pack. But remember one thing, I will be back to destroy everything you've worked so hard to build. You feel double the pain you've made me feel." My eyes were teary as I made that oath. I will not forgive and I will not forget.Cora I had never felt this hurt before. I knew it was only a matter of time before he would raise his hands on me but I didn't expect it to be sooner. The smile I saw on Zaria's face made me furious and I wanted to attack her but security came and dragged me outside. I felt humiliated. I let my guard down and let those idiots ruin my reputation. Now, I never want to show my face at the Tengen Awards again. "The alpha said you shouldn't be let into the house." The guards said the moment I approached the gates. "Are you okay? If you want to keep your jobs, let me through." I tried to force myself through but they blocked me. "I said, let me through!" In the process of struggling, one of them pushed me back so hard that I fell to the ground. I hissed in pain as I felt I had strained my waist. But that was the least of my problems. I just hoped my child was safe. My hands went to my small stomach immediately."I'm sorry, luna, but we have a duty to our alpha." He said with pleading ey
Cora "Do you feel pain anywhere?" She asked me in a frantic tone. At first, I couldn't speak. "Maybe we need to take you to the hospital after all." That was when I snapped back to reality. "I'm fine, I'm fine." I quickly said. I didn't want to go to any hospital. It would bring back the memories that I was trying to bury. The wounds still felt fresh and I didn't know when I started crying. "Oh dear," I heard her walking close to me. The space beside me sank a bit and I felt a hand running across my shoulders. "Whatever the problem is, it will be alright." Her voice was soothing to the soul and in no time, I found myself wiping my tears. "Thank you very much for your generosity. I don't know where I would have been without you." I sniffled lightly as I thanked her. "Might I ask, what were you doing by that time? Didn't you know it was dangerous to be out there alone?" My face fell to the ground. "It's a long story." I simply replied. I didn't want to talk about it e
Cora My journey into my mother's business world wasn't an easy one because she had lots of rivals. I wondered how she wasn't dead with the number of enemies she had, even the ones working under her and with her. I was in a conference room with my mother and her partners when I began to feel some pains around my lower abdomen. I thought it was just the normal pain until it became harder the second time. I tried to hide the discomfort I felt but unfortunately, my mother had caught sight of me. "Are you okay, dear?" She asked. My breathing seized because of the number of eyes that turned to me. It made me quite nervous but as soon as I opened my mouth to speak, another contraction hit me. This time, it was followed by a small sound. I held my stomach and stood up. It was then it dawned on me that the baby was coming. My mother halted the meeting and made sure I was rushed to the hospital while she continued with the meeting. I had a feeling I was going into labour that morning but I
P/S: I'd be using the 3rd POV from this chapter. It helps me explain better than 1st POV. Sorry for the inconvenience. His fingers strummed the wooden table as he stared at the newspaper. His eyes glistened with anger but only for a moment before he faced his nephew, Liam."She's dead. Jane Moore." He narrowed his eyes as those words left his mouth. His jaw ticked as he read about Jane's mysterious heir. "So it seems, uncle Dante," Liam replied quite solemnly and sighed. "Do you know who succeeded her?" Dante asked as he kept looking at the masked woman. Her nose and mouth were covered, leaving only her eyes. He was pissed off about the whole situation. Jane and Dante had been enemies for quite a while because they were each after the same company. Gadget Co was a tech company whose popularity was over the moon. Dante wanted the company to open a branch in his departmental store, but so did Jane before she died. It's been three years but they were still fighting. "How am I just f
Time seemed to have stopped in the wide room occupied by several shelves of books. Seated on his couch with a filled wine glass in his left hand and a cigarette on his right, Dante stared at Javan who had presented him with nothing. "If not that you're my best friend, I would have ordered for your execution." Dante grouched and drew out smoke from the stick. Javan irked his face while touching his neck. "Two weeks, Javan, two weeks is more than enough to look for one insignificant, arrogant woman.""I'm not the only one who looked into it. I had to involve others because I was quite shocked when I couldn't find anything on her." He explained and released a breath when Dante finally nodded."I trust you're doing all you can to find her. She committed a grave crime and she needs to pay for it." He took the cigarette out on the ashtray before his eyes darted to the envelope that was sent in by the most wanted company, Gadget Co. "Aren't you going to open it?" Javan questioned with an
After that meeting, none of them set eyes on each other again for more than a month. Gadget Co had still not gotten back to them and Dante was looking for a way to get Cora out of the way. If only he could get her to drop out on her own. "What's this idea of yours, Liam?" Dante asked Liam, who sat across from him in his office. He remembered Liam talking about a way of getting the Moore empire to back off. "It had better be good." His eyes narrowed as he stared at his fidgeting nephew. Dante had always had this intimidating aura that scared everyone off, except Cora and the few people close to him. "Well, thinking about it now, it sounds like a dumb idea." "Spill, Liam," Dante growled impatiently. His guts told him that Cora was going to be picked as the brand ambassador and he needed to do something quick. "I wanted to say that we should offer them some amount of money or something very enticing. Something better than Gadget Co." "And how much do you think you can offer a woma
"What sort of presentation was that? Is that how you want to attract more people?" Dante asked with a deadly glare. They had gotten to Liam's house after the meeting with the investors. "At least I got a few people who bought my idea and see it as gold." Liam shrugged, not wanting to argue with his uncle. He didn't want to seem ungrateful for the opportunity but he felt he was pushing him too much. "Few people? They're not up to ten. Didn't your ex-wife teach you anything?" "Uncle Dante, please, don't bring her into this. You know how much I hate talking about my past. You must be very tired. You need to rest." "And what sort of wife did you later get married to? A whore? That dumbass that doesn't know anything about business, that's who you ended up with. You're both pathetic." "Uncle!" Liam thundered, making Dante arch a brow. "I will not stand here and watch you insult my family. Respect what's mine at least. I would never say that about anybody you'd get married to." Dante
Struggling to make his way through the crowd, Liam bumped into a lot of persons. He grunted incessantly until he was able to make it through the crowd. Because of doctor's appointment with his child, he ran late. So late that Dante left him and gave him directions to the club. Liam wondered why Zaria couldn't go alone. He finally found Dante sitting in the midst of some of the men he had met at the investor's meeting. This was his chance to bond with them, so he thought. "Good evening." He bowed slightly, although he wouldn't have done that if the meeting was in his pack. An alpha bowed to nobody. As he sat down, he sensed how carefree the men were. They didn't know they were dealing with supernatural beings. Nobody believed werewolves ever exists in the human world. Ignorance would be the end of them. "Pfft!! Humans." He said with scorn. They were the weaker vessels and yet, the stronger ones groveled at their feet. And then, his eyes turned to his uncle who laughed freely with
"Where is this place?" Cora asked as she gazed at the glistening pool. Her eyes darted back to Dante who was now at the bar, serving them some drinks. After they had left the bar, he took her to one of his penthouses."Nothing special. Come here," He invited her over with a gentle tone, although she wished he had been more commanding. "Cora!" She reprimanded herself before walking over. He handed her the drink and she reluctantly took it. "Do you go to the bar very often?" He asked, curiously. "Like twice or thrice a month. I go there to get away from all the stress and drama." She replied, swaying her wineglass from right to left. "I could use a swim though. Do you mind?" "Not at all. Knock yourself out." He shrugged and sipped his wine. She was about to stand up but his right hand pulled her down. He dropped his wine glass without breaking eye contact with her. He leaned in and removed a piece of thread that was stuck to her hair. He then tucked some strands of her hair behin
"What's the meaning of this?!" Liam thundered, making Zaria flinch. "Where did you go to last weekend?" His tone was calm but deadly. "You better start speaking up before I lose my cool!" He commanded, making her wolf submit. "How is it your business if I went out? Didn't I tell you I was going to visit a relative of mine who lived in the big city?" She questioned innocently. "If you were listening to me, you would have known. And why are you shouting at me?" She fired back more fiercely this time. "And you were having s*x with this relate of yours? Is that it?" He tilted his head, trying to cool his temper. He wanted nothing but to pounce on her and give her the beating of her life. "Where did I go wrong, Zaria? Where?" Pain struck his throat as he spoke. He stood up so he could have a clearer view of the cheater. "I did everything you asked of me. I gave you everything you wanted and this is how you repay me?" Zaria gulped hard. Did he find out she went to see someone else?
"Are you okay sweetie?" Cora asked as she gave her child a scrutinizing look. Lisa was crying as though she had gotten a major injury but it was just a slight brush on her elbow. Cora sighed in relief. She had thought something bad happened to her child. "Don't scare me like that baby." She cried her in her arms but she was crying seriously. "Are you hurt anywhere, baby?" "Daddy..." She mumbled, not sounding clear to Cora. "Candy? I could get that for you." She cooed and stroked her hair gently. "No, Daddy!" She exclaimed. "Daddy?" Cora hissed. She knew Lisa was referring to Dante. Lisa's cry intensified and she refused to calm down, despite all the efforts made to make her stop. The neighboring patients began to complain, forcing her to call Dante over. "You are going to pay for this, baby." She rolled her eyes, waiting for the hero of the day to arrive. It took him about twenty minutes to round up his work and rush to the hospital. All that while, Lisa didn't stop crying. Th
"How did that wench glow up like that?" Zaria paced her room up and down, not able to get Cora off her mind. She saw the cars and escorts all just because she wanted to buy a building. What if she was actually going to an event? Zaria couldn't shake off the feeling of envy raging inside of her. She wanted everything Cora had. "I'm convinced that she slept her way up there. There's no other way she could have done it." She concluded maliciously. "And did you see the way he was looking at her? That man is definitely having something to do with that. I will show him that he can't use me and run back to his ex-wife that easily." She clicked her tongue. Her phone vibrated in her pocket. Without looking at the caller, she picked up. "What is it, Liam?" She questioned as she plonked to her bed. "Are you done staring so lovingly at your ex-wife? You know, sometimes I think you're cheating on me..." "Uhh... Sorry, I'm not Liam." The deep voice from the other end interrupted her. She imm
The pleasure of watching Liam's properties being moved out of his company brought pure bliss to Cora's heart that it made her burst with happiness. She was willing to go to any length to make sure Liam got to his knees and begged her for forgiveness. "He still has pride." She scoffed. "Are you sure this is the only building he has?" I asked my assistant and she nodded positively. How low she was willing to make the man sink. She knew he would come around to find out what was going on in his pack and as expected, Liam barged in and grabbed her wrist. "What are you doing, Cora?" He asked through gritted teeth. Annoyed, she yanked her hand out of his and took five steps backward. "What? I'm only buying a free building for the extension of my company." She replied innocently. "Free building? I own this place!" He yelled. "Don't tell me you didn't know that? It would just make you the lying bitvh you already are." Cora folded her arms and looked at him as though he was a piece of s
"Flora..." Cora echoed the name repeatedly in her head. She remembered how after she was humiliated at the party, she went to Flora for help. But ended up being pushed away by someone she cherished. She faced betrayals from each angle and Flora's own pained her more. Flora believed that Cora actually pushed Zaria to the ground. Remembering that memory, she clicked her tongue. "This is the exact time to give her a taste of her own medicine, right?" She tilted her head, not knowing what to do. She wanted to dismiss her job application letter for no reason but something pricked her heart. "Does she even know I run this place?" She asked herself. "Only one way to find out." She picked up the telephone and phoned her secretary. "Let Flora in." The HRM was supposed to handle the employment was staff but upon seeing Flora in the queue, she decided to take over. When Flora was called upon, her eyes lit up. There was a spark of hope that ignited her heart. She had been struggling to land
"What happened between the two of you? Just two clashes with her cannot make her that bitter toward you." Dante pinched the flesh between his brows. He was tired of his nephew's complaints. After Cora told him to stay away from their fight, he told Liam. Liam agreed that it was his fight and Dante took his hands off. Later on, when the fire was too hot for Liam, he started coming to his uncle. At first, Dante wanted to ignore him but his cries became too much and he decided to hear him out. "Why are you not saying anything?" Dante sighed, looking at his helpless cousin. "I'm trying to help you but first, I must know what I'm getting into." He explained with a mused smile. His likeness for Cora had greatly increased, seeing the way she threw a grown man into despair without laying a finger on him. "I cannot tell you, uncle." Liam looked away and huffed. "You best be on your way then. I cannot help you." Dante stood up, heading for the door. "Okay, let's do it this way," Liam sugg
"Mommy, wake up," Lisa yelled as she shook Cora who was still sleeping soundly. When Cora felt the disturbance, she opened her eyes to see the brightest smile on her daughter's face. She couldn't get used to seeing her every day. Three years ago was one of the hardest periods of her life. She lost her mother on the day she gave birth. Since then, Lisa has been her world. The only person she was living for. Having Lisa gave her this mad sense of responsibility, leading her to work hard so that her daughter wouldn't suffer the same fate as her. "You're up early, baby girl." Cora leaned in and kissed her forehead. "Good morning, mommy." She returned the kiss and fell into her mother's arms. Cora wrapped her like a newborn, almost squishing her. "Good morning, my darling. Hope you slept well." She asked as she stroked her hair gently. Lisa nodded and looked into her mother's face. "Daddy..." She muttered. At first, Cora was confused. "What did you say, love?" "I saw daddy yesterday
"Who does that man think he is?" Cora thought to herself as she swiveled in her seat, her pen cap to her lips, and her fingers casually drumming her transparent desk. "Does he know I could sue him for defamation? What gives him the right to meddle in my business?" She stood up and walked to the large window. She looked at the busy street below, wondering how well she would deal with Liam. Although she knew she was going to exert her revenge on him, she didn't think it would be too soon. She needed lots of time to think of how well she could ruin him entirely. She was jolted out of her devious thoughts by the closure of her door. She turned slowly and saw her logistics manager walking in. "Good morning ma'am. I'm sorry for barging in but I've been knocking for a while and since there was no answer, I had to make sure you were okay." "Thank you, Terrence, but I'm fine. Please, sit." She catwalked back to her seat while Terrence sat opposite her, handing her the report she had ear
