Chapter Two

Ethan pov

I stood by the balcony, holding a glass of champagne. This was my 5th glass, and I was a little drunk.

But well that is my recent hobby, whether I get drunk through work or alcohol, because that is the only way for me to forget my sorrows and pain 

I came here quietly to get a little drunk, and besides, the party was too chattering for my liking.

The only reason I came here, was to get some partners to invest in my new business idea, which was Robotics Technology, 

And also I heard that Frank Don will be here, the CEO of Don Robotics Technology company.

I was here to see if I could convince him to partner with my company because if he does, it a great deal,

Don Robotics Technology Company is the largest and best, artificial intelligence technology company in the world.

I stood by the balcony thinking of how to convince him, when my secretary, Mara, walked in.

“Sir, Miss Diana is looking for you.” She said, which spoiled my mood. I have been trying to get rid of her for the past five years, but she kept on pestering me.

I don’t love her, I don’t want to be with her, I was in love with another, I told her severally but she was adamant on making me hers.

So I have been avoiding her, I didn’t want to have anything to do with her.

“Look, Mara, tell her anything, but don’t tell her my whereabouts; I don’t want to see her; that girl irritates me,” I said, still sipping the glass of champagne in my hands.

“Okay, but sir, you need to stop drinking; you know we came for a business party to get partners for the new business ideas; you won’t be able to talk to anyone if you are drunk.” She said calmly, 

Well, she was right. Mara has been my secretary for years, and she was the only one who could address me about my bad habits without getting fired. I'm used to her, she was like a family to me.

“Yes, you are right,” I said, handing the glass of champagne to her.

She took the glass of champagne from me with a smile on her face.

“Sir...” She wanted to say something else, but her phone rang; she looked at me, and I nodded for her to pick up the call.

Which she did, when she was done, she faced me with a smile on her face.

“Sir, The CEO of Don Robotics Technology company, Mr. Frank Don has arrived.” She said, and I smiled, this is the moment I have been waiting for.

I turned to her and adjusted my suit and hair. 

“How do I look?” I asked; she smiled at me and nodded to tell me I looked okay.

I was a little nervous because Frank was a very intimidating and no-nonsense person. I need to act well if I want to get him to partner with my company.

I walked into the party, only to bump into Diana, the same person I have been avoiding and not wanting to see today; in fact, I don’t want to see her ever in my life.

“Ethan, I have been looking for you, thank god I bumped into you.” She said, holding my hands, I tried to pull my hands out of her hands but she held My hands tightly while smiling widely at me

Damn, everything about her irritates me, even her smiles, but I didn’t want to be rude, I managed to give her a fake smile.

“Ethan, are you avoiding me?” She asked, I stylishly removed my hand from hers.

“So, I can see you are enjoying the party,” I said to avoid her question.

She nodded. “ Yes, but I would prefer to enjoy it with just you, under the duvet doing crazy things to each other.”

She smiled seductively, moving her hands down my neck.

I immediately moved her hands away. 

She and her stupid imagination, I just dislike her.

I feel more and more irritated by her presence, and besides I need to find Frank Don, that was the main reason I was here.

“Okay, Diana, we will talk later, I have something I need to do,” I said to her, leaving her in the middle of the crowd.

Fuck!

Finally, I was able to get rid of her, now I need to focus on finding Frank,

I scanned the party trying to find him, then I got the shock of my life when my eyes came in contact with someone.

Someone I didn’t expect to meet, someone I hadn’t seen for the past five years, someone I still knew I was attracted to

My Ex-fiancé, Cassie.

Ever since our failed marriage, five years ago, I haven’t set my eyes on her, it was as if she disappeared into thin air

Seeing her today brought back old feelings, I knew I still had feelings for her, I still love her

She was sitting down by the bar pressing her phone and sipping a glass of juice. She looks different, she looks more beautiful and hotter,

I stared at her for a few minutes, then walked to her. I sat on the seat beside her, thank God the seat wasn’t Occupied.

She didn’t even for once look at me; it was as if I was a ghost, but she ignored that. I thought of a way to get her attention.

I used my palm to hit the table of the bar. It was a way to call the bar attendant, but to me, it was a way to get her attention.

The bar attendant walked to me

“Give me a glass of champagne,” I said to him and he nodded and left.

She then turned to look at me, scanned me from head to toe, and went back to whatever she was doing on her phone.

She was cold, but I didn’t even notice, or should I say I don’t care, all I wanted was to start a conversation with her.

The bar attendant came to me and gave me the glass of champagne I requested; he was about to leave when I said, “Get Another glass of champagne for the lady.” 

“I’m not interested.” She said still pressing her phone, then I signaled to the bar attendant to leave the drink, and he left us alone

“Cassie, how have you been? It's been a while since I last saw you.” I said, staring at her pretty face, deep down praying she replied to me or at least talked to me.

“What are you doing here? Ain’t you supposed to be with the love of your life, Diana, over there.” She replied, still not looking at me.

Wait! 

Was she jealous seeing me with Diana a while ago, if she is that means she still has feelings for me Just like I still have feelings for her

I wanted to say something more, like tell her I’m not interested in Diana or being with Diana but I was interrupted.

A guy walked in and took her into his embrace, kissing her on the neck, not even caring if I was sitting down with her.

Who did he even think he was to kiss my woman?

Just as I was about to say something he kissed her again then pulled out of the embrace.

“Sweetie, I hope I didn’t keep you waiting; I’m sorry, I was holding up something.” He said, smiling childishly.

“It’s okay,” Cassie replied giving him, the most precious smile, I was more upset, why was she smiling at him,

I have been trying to get her attention since but all she gave me was a cold face, but now she was smiling at this man before me.

The man held her, on her waist seductively, I couldn’t contain my anger anymore 

“Cassie, who is this guy holding your waist? Is he blind? Can’t he see I’m talking to you?” I said angrily; who does he think he is to hold the waist of my woman? Does he know who I am?

Cassie was about to say something when the guy held her shoulder with his other hand, 

He faced me and smiled,” I am Frank Don, the CEO of a Robotics Technology company, you were saying?”

I was shocked; I couldn’t even say anything; how did Cassie come across such a man?

“Whoever I am with has nothing to do with you; the day you left me on the aisle on our wedding day, cheated on me, and chose Diana over me, we have had nothing to do with each other since then,” Cassie said while holding hands with Frank.
