Chapter One

AUTHOR’S POV

Cassie woke up and smiled, staring at her reflection in the mirror. Today was the happiest day of her life, the day she would marry the man of her dreams, the love of her life: Ethan Michael.

They had been dating for three years. What started as a contract marriage had blossomed into genuine love, and now they were getting married.

She stood up to pick up her phone and call her best friend, Kira, but before she could dial, she heard a thunderous knock and screams from outside. She knew it was Kira. Quickly, she opened the door, and Kira ran in and gave her a hug.

“You’re getting married and leaving me in singlehood,” Kira said, faking a sad face.

She ignored Kira’s theatrics, after all, Kira had always been dramatic and was even nicknamed Drama Queen in high school.

She and Kira had been friends since kindergarten. They went to high school and college together.

Kira walked up to her and brought out the wedding dress. It was beautiful, a white ball gown designed with pearls.

She quickly rushed to take her bath. Kira helped her with her makeup and packed her hair before she slipped into the gown.

When Kira was done dressing her, she looked in the mirror and couldn’t help but smile. She looked more beautiful than she had ever imagined.

Well, that’s the perk of having the perfect best friend.

A lady walks into the room to inform them the wedding has begun.

Cassie smiled and nodded their heads, then the lady left, Cassie rubbed her palms together, she was nervous.

Kira walks up to her, “is okay Cassie, don’t worry everything will be okay.” 

They both stood up and walked down the aisle together, Cassie raised up her head to look at the man she was getting married to, but she couldn’t find him standing at the end of the aisle.

“Where is Ethan? Isn’t he supposed to be here waiting for me, why is he not here?” Cassie panicked , she was getting scared.

“Don’t worry, maybe he is running late, let’s wait for him.” Kira replied 

Which calms Cassie down a little, All the guests have arrived and have already taken their seats.

Cassie, the bride was there, but the groom wasn’t.

After waiting for an hour, Cassie was anxious, why wasn’t Ethan here, she tried calling him, but he wasn’t picking his phone.

Guests were already talking, gossiping. Just when she was about to leave the hall, she heard the sound of Ethan's car.

She couldn’t help but smile, she thought Ethan stood her up and that he was no longer interested in her, but now hearing the sound of his car reassured her.

CASSIE’S POV

I stood there like a fool, smiling, waiting for him, then I saw him, walking down the aisle, he wasn’t wearing his wedding suit, he was wearing casual jeans and white T-shirt and a jacket. Right now I didn’t care what he was wearing, all I wanted was for us to get married.

But everything changed when I saw a lady beside him, Diana, my sworn Enemy.

Both of them were holding hands like couples, and walking towards me. I tried to stay positive, maybe it was not what I was thinking, but then the projector screen, flip on, the projector screen that was supposed to show couples pictures of me and Ethan, wasn’t showing that.

It was showing a video of Ethan and Diana kissing. When I saw it I broke down, I looked at his face, but he was smiling. He didn't even have any hint of guilt or remorse, it was like he wanted me to watch it. 

He gave me a mockery look.

Tears rolling down my eyes, Kira immediately ran to me, trying to console me, but I was out of it.

The pain was too unbearable, I felt my heart was shattering, but then I stood up, maybe not what I think, I tried to convince myself.

“Ethan, tell me it’s fake, I know you won’t hurt me, we are getting married today.” I said trying to hold him, but he shifted back

“What you saw is not fake, I don’t love you, I wanted to marry you to get your family’s share of the company, but right now I don’t need it anymore, and besides I love Diana and I will be getting married to her.” He replied, his words were like a million knives passing through my heart.

Tearing rolling down my cheeks, I turned around and saw everyone mocking me, it was as if it were all planned, I felt broken and sad.

All I wanted was the ground to open and swallow me. 

Diana, smile at me devilishly.

Ever since I met her in high school she has always bullied me, she hated me for no reason at all, she tried to collect everything I have, now she has succeeded in taking my man.

I stood up straight and cleaned my tears. I have to be strong so that I won’t embarrass myself more than I already did, and I didn’t want to give Ethan and Diana the satisfaction of seeing me break down.

I tried to leave, but Kira stopped me.

“Ethan, I thought you were a responsible man, but I didn’t know you were just a dick.” Kira said she was about to insult him more, but I stopped her.

Right now, I’m too broken to batter words, all I wanted now was to go home and cry myself to sleep.

“Kira, it's fine, let's go home.” I said, walking out of the hall, Kira followed me.

On our way she tried to console me, but even she didn't know the right words to say, and to be honest I just wanted a peaceful and quiet place.

Walking home brought more memories. I love him, but he betrayed me, he hurt me.

I tried to buckle down the pain and be strong but I couldn’t, I broke down in the middle of the street crying.

Kira sat beside me, hugging me, telling me it was gonna be okay.

I felt a twitch in my tummy, I felt like throwing up, I quickly stood up and ran to the nearby dumpster and throw up, I started vomiting uncontrollably.

Every five minutes till I passed out in the middle of the street.

I was woken up by the sound of a beep machine. In an unfamiliar place, I scanned the room and saw a bag of drip connected to my veins, and Kira lying by my side.

That was when I knew I was in the hospital, memories of what happened, started flooding my head.

Yeah I remember I was vomiting, then I passed out.

I tap Kira to wake her up, she opens her eyes and smile

“You are finally awake, how are you feeling?” She asked.

“I’m fine, maybe I was vomiting because of what I ate and the pass out is because I have exhausted myself these past few days trying to prepare for the wedding.” I said.

“Hmmm…. Cassie about that.. huh.. you didn’t pass out because of the food you ate, the doctor said ... .hmm.” She open her mouth trying to say something else, but it was as if she was finding it too hard to say it

“Then what did the doctor say, why did I pass out.” I asked

“Hmmm … the doctor said… you..” she stammered, still not saying anything, I was getting upset, all I wanted now was to get discharged and go home.

“Kira, speak to me I don’t have all day.” 

“The doctor said, you… are.. uhm..pre…gnant” she finally spoke but I was taken aback, or maybe I heard her wrong.

“I’m what?”

“You are pregnant.” She repeated
