When Iris remained silent, Wade stepped up to reach her.

Both my eyes were fixed on how his hands swiftly made their way to her waist.

There was for sure a certain feeling building up inside me, but before I could even think of it, I averted my gaze away.

“I hope this is the last time we’re going to talk about Lily leaving the Pack, James.”

“This won’t happen again, Aiden.”

Aiden’s grip on my hand tightened as he pulled me out with him. As soon as my back turns to them, I’m sure what I heard was right.

“Lily,” Wade called for my name, in a low voice.

I tried to look back at him, but Aiden’s pull didn’t let me. He tugs me so quickly, that I only get the chance to see Wade’s clenched jaw and tightened lips.

“Are you alright? Did Iris hurt you?”

Reaching the main gate of the Packhouse, Aiden began to examine me, but I assured him with a forceful smile.

“No, Aiden. I’m alright,” I lied. “You’re just right in time because I don’t know what else to do if Alpha James does go after that
