Nathan's POV

I had never felt such a bone-chilling cold in my life. Living in the temperate climate of Europe for so long has almost made me lose the ability to adapt to extreme cold.

I stared at the reflection of myself in the icy wall, trying to minimize my breath, trapping the heat within my body.

When I felt prepared, I took a deep breath and attempted to remove my clothing once more.

That's when my pocket vibrated. It was a call from Kayla.

I hesitated, staring at the name I had longed to see countless times. However, this time, I couldn't bring myself to hang up immediately as I had done before.

I wasn't sure if I would live to see the sun rise tomorrow.

With that thought, I let go of my inner struggle and answered the call.

"Kayla."

"Nathan! Thank goodness you finally answered the phone! I'm at the house right now..."
