To my dear readers,
Thanks for embarking on the journey of my first novel. Your time, coins, gems, and comments mean a lot, and it's the reason I keep going until the end.
While writing this book, some left comments to criticize my works and I appreciate them all. I will make use of them and put more effort into avoiding such mistakes (grammatical, word usage, and construction of the plot) in my next books. I am a new author and still finding my way and I promise to work harder and better to make every coin and time you spend on my works worth it.
Cohen and Patricia's story ends here, but we will still meet them in the next books in the series.
As planned, I want to continue to create the characters' universe for them because of the impact they make in this complete novel. I hope you will stay with me and keep giving your support.
If things go as planned, we will have another five amazing journeys to embark on in this series and the next books to come are for:
1. Ailee and Bastian.
2. Elsie and her yet-to-be-revealed soulmate.
My new book titled "Daggers In The Hearts: A Marriage For Revenge" will be out this weekend, along with Elsie's Story, which title is yet to be revealed.

She endures eight years of hardships and when her uncle goes bankrupt and is used to replace his first daughter for marriage to Ivanov Makar, an heir of the wealthiest family in the city, she is excited especially when it seems like her chance to get out of hell and have her freedom, unbeknownst she was about to fall into the depth of hell where she will be forever bondage.

“Is this how it feels to be happy again?” Just a moment ago, Patricia was over the moon, but immediately she drove into the big mansion of Lucas, the smile on her face faded away. Her heart pounded fast, and she had a feeling that something bad awaited her inside. She took her mind off all thought and opened her bag. She took out her pregnancy test result and unfolded it for another glance. Seeing her name boldly written on the paper, a bright smile she hasn't had in years displayed on her face. “Finally!” She silently screamed in her head, clouding how the pregnancy might change her fate in the Lucas mansion. She was the legal wife of Lucas Cohen, a young billionaire tycoon. Marrying Lucas Cohen, the public believed her life was full of sugar candy and most ladies envied her for being the luckiest one to marry into the Lucas family, but her life was the opposite. It was even worse! It has been three years, but she never for once enjoys the sweetness of the bon
Patricia picked the paper and walked to the cabinet to get a pen. She signed it and walked back to Cohen’s front. “Take.” She said and threw the paper at his chest. She bit her lower lip and snickered. “I can't believe I’ve been a fool and continue to be your wife till now despite how evil all of you are,” she regreted. “This marriage is meaningless and I’m stupid for not requesting a divorce till now,” “Well, I am grateful you do it on my behalf and it's not too late to move on,” she uttered, hiding her pains with a bright grin on her face. “This is the end of a painful bond with you, but believe me, Cohen, it is the beginning for you all to reap what you sow.” She exhaled deeply and veered around to Anna, brightening her smile. “Anna.” She called, not expecting an answer. She thought Anna would be ashamed and wouldn't dare not look at her in the face, but she was wrong. Anna raised her gaze and looked straight into Patricia's eyes. “What’s it!” She yelled. Seeing Anna no
Patricia trekked for hours before she reached the bus station. A free bus arrived and parked in her front and she entered without a particular destination in her mind. She had nowhere to go, but she felt it was not good to stay around her enemies. They were bad energies she needed to stay away from, so she wanted to go far away. She wanted to live and take care of herself so that she could protect the baby in her womb. It was all she got now. The bus arrived at its bus stop, so she got down, and immediately as she stepped her feet on the ground, her stomach grumbled. She has eaten nothing yet. She left home in a rush to the hospital early in the morning, and after hearing the joyous news, she hoped to have a delicious meal with her husband after he returned in the evening, but her plan was ruined. She rubbed her stomach and raised her gaze to see a restaurant on the other side. She quickly walked to the roadside. She looked left, but she was in a hurry, so she crossed
“Sorry for the loss.” “Thank you for coming.” Bastian greeted people, seeing them off to the entrance of the bereavement center. He curtsied his head and watched the influenced people walk away. He turned back and saw Patricia and William walking towards him. Immediately as William sighted Bastian, he separated his hand from his mother and ran toward Bastian. Before William got to Bastian, Bastian bent down and widely opened his arms.“My boy!” He said, rounding his arms around William.Bastian carried William from the ground and put him on his shoulder, walking closer to Patricia. “Sweetheart,” he called and placed his arm on her shoulder. “It’s good to have you back in this city. Welcome back.”Patricia wore a sour smile, looking down. “It's heartbreaking. I couldn’t make it back in time. I wish to see the chairman’s face again before he passed away.” She remorsed. Her heart filled with regrets and guilt. It's been over five years, with some months, since Patricia has traveled out
“Cohen!”“Patricia.” Cohen called in a low voice, locking eyes with her in bewilderment. After a few seconds of staring at each other, Patricia took her eyes away from him.He released William's hand, and he put his hands in his pocket, looking downward.Patricia wished to say a word and break the silence, but her mouth betrayed her and refused to pull out a word.“Mom, I'm sorry,” Williams apologized, explaining, “I mistook him for dad when he entered the hall and I followed him here,”Williams tinted his lips with a smile, furthering, “he is a nice guy too. He promised to buy me chocolate and help me search for you.”“Patricia, Is is your son? Are you're-married? When?” Cohen’s questions came, and she looked at him.Williams looked at Cohen. “Did you know my mom?”“Yes, she-” Cohen said, wanting to reveal the truth, but Patricia cut him off.“Yes, Williams. He is just a random person from my past. Though I thought I knew him, but turned out I did not…” she tacitly ridiculed him so Wi
‘Where is Patricia?’ Anna thought in her mind, sipping a little of the wine a waiter just poured into her glass.“I won’t let you go scot free,” she vowed, feeling unrest. Her heart has been in chaos and her mind filled with fear after seeing Cohen’s reaction while watching Patricia walk away with another guy.“Where is she?” Anna thought to herself. She put the glass on the table and slowly veered around, scanning around the hall till she saw Patricia sitting with her son on the same table with Bastian.Anna clicked tongue. “Fuck! Why is she sitting there?” She whispered.Patricia’s table was in the first row of the hall while Anna and Cohen’s table was in the last row in the back. The hall was wide and long, so they were far from each other.Anna still wanted to chat with Patricia and she needed a chance to cross paths with her, but she couldn't act freely because of Cohen, since she was allowed into the bereavement center after she promised not to cause trouble and avoided Patricia.
After the funeral, Bastian attended a meeting, so he ordered a cab to take Patricia and Williams's home earlier. He stopped at a mini supermarket to get a chocolate for Williams on his way home.Bastian entered the living room, and Williams ran to meet him. “Dad.”Bastian smiled and carried Williams. He walked to the living room center and dropped him. “Here is your chocolate.”Williams collected his chocolate, but his face was dull, making Bastian instantly noticed. “What happened to you?” He investigated. “What’s wrong?”“Mum…” Williams said.“Mum? What’s wrong with her? Where is she?” Bastian asked, worried.Williams looked downward, confessing, “you told me to always make her happy always, but I disappointed you.”Bastian frowned his forehead, confused. “What happened? Did you walk around again?” He interrogated.Williams shook his head. “No, I didn’t walk around. I just requested to see the guy from the funeral ceremony,” he explained. “Mom objected. She said he was a bad guy, so
Anna was feeling sleepy, but didn't go to bed, waiting for Cohen to get back home. She believed Cohen acted in the event. She expected him to come after her and apologize, but he didn’t. He didn’t even call to check on her since she left the event in anger. It was past 10pm, and he wasn’t back home. She called his line relentlessly, but he didn’t pick his call, and he later switched off his phone. Her heart rotten in fear and she became restless as her heart paved way to negative thoughts.“What if Cohen is with Patricia?”While her mind was still in an uproar, she heard Cohen honked. She stood on her feet and rounded her eyes on her waist.“Where are you coming from?” She challenged immediately as Cohen stepped into the living room.He ignored her question and continued walking.“Where have you been, Cohen?” She asked, panting. “Why are you just returning home?”He paused and stared at her. “Am I late?” He raised a question.“Don’t you see the time? Hun.” She let out.“Since when did

-THREE MONTHS LATER-“What are you doing, Cohen?” Patricia challenged as Cohen slowly reversed the car. “Aren’t we going to pick the kid at the school anymore?”“We will.” Cohen answered as he drove into the other lane and headed toward their street.“Then why are you reversing? Why are you heading back home?” She questioned.“I forgot something at home.” Cohen informed.“What did you forget? Hun?” she asked, looking at him with a side of her eyes.“My phone.” Cohen responded.“Why must we go back to pick up your phone? It will take less than an hour to get back home. Can’t you just let’s go?” She queried.“I can’t because I am a business owner. I mustn’t stay away from my phone.” Cohen gave an excuse with his eyes fixed on the road ahead.“It’s the weekend, Cohen. No one will call you today. Stop giving excuses and let’s pick the kids. We shouldn’t keep them waiting for a long time.” Patricia said.“I’m not going because of business, but I need to pay fees before we can take the kids
Cohen discharged a deep breath as he walked out of the bathroom. He paused for a second and rounded his hands over his waist, forgetting what he wanted to do next at that moment.A thought passed through his mind and he wiped his right hand over his face with the left still on the waist.Patricia’s phone rang, and he walked to the cabinet on the bedside and picked it up. “Who could be?” He wondered with his eyes furrowed, confused, and before he could turn to the door, the call ended and a message came into her eyes.Since Patricia’s phone was always unlocked, Cohen saw the message’s content and his eyes enlarged as a surprised tone escaped his mouth. “Hun!”He bit his lower lip and after a few second thought, he reached a conclusion and instantly swiped the message to the left to delete it. He returned the phone to the bed cabinet and rushed out of the room.He arrived in the sitting room and saw his mother watching the TV while Elsie was packing their breakfast out of the kitchen an
“Who is here for me?” Anna threw a question at the security officer escorting her out of the room, showing no interest in meeting the person. The security officer opened the door for her and immediately as she sighted Patricia, she veered around.Patricia quickly stood on her feet. “Is that how to treat a guest?” She threw a question. “Shouldn’t you at least stay to hear why I am here? Your daughter, Rachel, don’t you have any message you want to pass to her?”Patricia’s words made Anna’s feet froze, and she halted for a minute before she slowly veered around and walked to the chair and sat down. “I have no message for Rachel. She doesn’t deserve a mother like me. I don’t worth to be called a mother,” she poured out. “Tell me why you are here. I don’t want to talk with you.”Patricia discharged a deep breath and sighed. She stared at Anna with a pity and despite having a lot of things in her mind, she couldn’t open her mouth to talk at the moment.Anna sighed. “Take your eyes away fro
Anna abruptly opened the door and banged in, panting. “Ma! Ma! Ma!” She shouted, running towards Patricia’s desk.Patricia was shocked, and she couldn’t utter a word. Instead, she widened her eyes and watched Anna arrived in front of her desk before she could pull a word out. “What happened?” She asked, the worried in her voice cooperating with the concern in her voice.Anna breathed heavily as she bent her back and placed her hands on her knees.“What happened?!” Patricia raised her voice. She was getting more scared by Anna’s reaction.Anna panted for another second before she raised her hand and stood straight on her feet. “It’s him…” she uttered, but couldn’t complete her statement. She pointed her thumb at her back, crossing it over her shoulder without looking backward. “It’s him…” she continued, struggling to complete her statement but couldn’t.“It’s who?” Patricia asked, with her lips already quivering. “Calm yourself and talk, Anna. What happened? It’s who? Please, talk. You’
Ailee walked into the office and stood in front of Bastian’s head. She bowed her head, holding a file in her hand. “Good morning, sir,” she greeted, but Bastian, whose head was placed on the desk, didn’t respond to her.“Good morning, sir,” she greeted again, but still no response. She furrowed her face. “What’s wrong with him?” She asked herself in a low voice. She observed him for a second and bent a bit to check if he was sleeping, but his eyes were wide open, making her guess he was just lost in thought. She elevated her shoulder a bit with her mouth shaped to the left a little. “What’s wrong with him?” She asked herself put the file on the desk and let out. “The president said I should give this to you.”She eyed her for another few minutes and turned around to leave, but as she took three steps forward, she halted because she was worried and couldn’t leave Bastian in that situation.“Gosh…” she uttered and discharged a soft breath and, without giving her decision a second thought
Patricia heard a knock on the floor, and she stopped pressing her laptop. She glanced at her wristwatch. “8:05 Am? Who could it be?” She wondered. She stared at the door and raised her voice so it could reach the person. “Come in.” She permitted and immediately continued pressing her laptop.“Good morning, ma.”She heard a familiar voice and instantly raised her gaze. “Cohen?!” she exclaimed with her eyes widened in disbelief, and she couldn’t say another word. Instead, she fixed her eyes on him and watched him stride closer.Cohen arrived in front of his desk and bowed his head. “Good morning, ma,” he greeted. He raised his head and crossed his hand behind him as he stared downward and slightly bent his neck to apologize. “I’m sorry I arrived late,”“I have to drop my mother at the hospital.” He exclaimed.“What are-” Patricia opened her mouth to talk, but Cohen interrupted her.“I’m sorry. I know that’s not an excuse. I shouldn’t involve family matters in business, but I have to sta
“Be careful…” Patricia cautioned Williams, who was already a few steps ahead of her out of the hospital and had been jumping around since the doctor said he was perfectly healthy now. There was no injection for him anymore.“Mom, please call Dad. This call for celebration. I am happy,” Williams let out. He stopped jumping, but couldn’t help pacing fast because he was so excited. He halted and glanced backward at his mother. “And don’t forget to invite Mr. Cohen as well. He needs to be there. I hope he is fine now and will have the strength to come.”“Sure, I will,” she agreed. She took a few steps closer to her and bent in his front. She passed the medicine nylon in her right hand to the left and placed it on Williams’s shoulder. “Williams, I know this won’t sound well with you or you won’t like it, but now that the truth is out and you know who Cohen is, you should change how you address him.”Williams furrowed his face as he raised his shoulder, stretching his hands beside him. “What
-Many weeks later-“Ma, it’s Mrs. Charlotte. She has been waiting for over two hours.” Anna proclaimed immediately as she entered the office. Patricia was working on a file, and Anna’s announcement made her halted. She raised her gaze and looked at Anna’s face. “Why did you keep her waiting?” She questioned. “You should have told her I was in a meeting.”“I did, but she insisted on staying, and Ailee told me to allow her. I even invited her to come into the office to wait for you, but she declined saying she doesn’t worth it.” Anna explained.Patricia sighed and closed the file on her desk. She stood and walked out of her seat, asking, “where is she now?”“At the third floor. She is waiting with others question,” Anna responded. Patricia had already walked to her side, and before she could add another word, Patricia increased her speed and already walked past her.Anna turned around and paced to Patricia with three steps between them. “You can stay. I will go call her.” She offered.
