Chapter Four

Elena's POV:

“What are you doing?” My mother asked as she snatched the phone away from my hands.

She ended the call immediately then looked up at me. “You even got a new phone, can you see this Greg?” My mom said, staring deeply at my dad.

“Give me back my phone.” I replied, ignoring my father's glares.

“Who were you calling just now?” My father asked, already upset.

He doesn't deserve to question me, no one deserves to question me. I fucking died. Because of their greed and deceit, I watched myself get stabbed to death.

“I am going to ask you that question one more time and if I don't get a reply. I will make sure you hate yourself.” My father threatened.

“Who were you talking to over the phone?” He asked.

“I was talking to someone that would get me out of this shit hole.” I replied rudely.

“Who told you about this alliance?” He asked further.

“I just happen to know.” I replied curtly.

“I am glad you know now, it should make things a lot easier. Your mother was arrested a few days ago because she was unable to pay off her debts as you already know. Luckily we found a way to sort things out, you getting married to Williams would protect your mom from getting detained again.”

My father revealed.

“That's a lie.” I responded.

“Excuse me?”

“Mom was never detained in the first place, you are all just being greedy.” I yelled.

For hours I suppressed my emotions, I acted okay. Although I was madly upset, I had to hold myself back from pouring out my anger. But standing before them was a lot harder than I expected.

I honestly wanted to rip off their heads off but then again they were my parents.

“I can't believe you both lied to me about something so serious. Just for money.” I continued. “There is practically no difference between you both and a bunch of petty thieves.” I added.

I couldn't say anything further as the loud sound of a heavy slap landing on my cheek had not only blocked my ears, but also clogged my voice box.

I looked up at my mother, I stared at the palms she used to hit me.

When did my parents become so cruel? Have they always been this way? I asked myself.

“Stop trying to cause a commotion, it doesn't suit you.” My father said. “You will be locked up in here until you come back to your senses and it better be soon because Williams is on his way.” He took the phone from my mom and stuffed it away inside his pocket, then he carefully pushed her out of the room.

“You had all the chances to save yourself, but you choosed to come back to a shit hole.” He mocked me before locking up the door.

I refused to struggle because I knew that would not help me at this moment. I could have ran away the moment I left the phone store, but with no one protecting me or backing me up. I will be tracked in no time.

Struggling would be impossible against my father; he has always been a well-built man. I could only have hope in Mason, I prayed that he would find a way to locate me.

Standing by the balcony I caught sight of several luxury cars driving into our front porch.

Bulky men dressed in black tuxedos, stepped down from each car.

I smiled sheepishly as I watched one bodyguard open the door of a red sports car for a man who seemed like their boss to step out.

My expression suddenly became sour as I saw the man that stepped out of the red sports car.

How could I fail to recognize his taste?

William had always loved to go overboard, excessive use of cars, bodyguards and the most expensive attire even to the most useless of events.

I had no idea that I was crying until I felt tears roll down my neck and dampened my top.

I won't be able to escape from William's home, even when I thought that he loved me he has always made sure that I never left the house without his permission.

I heard sounds of keys clinking against each other, it was obvious that someone was unlocking the doors.

The door was pushed open and my mother stepped in. “Let's go, Williams is here.” She said.

“I refuse to.” I insisted.

“It was not a request, follow me.” She said coldly and then dragged me down the stairs.

I took in a deep breath and followed her closely behind.

When we reached the sitting room I glanced around, I stared at every bodyguard mounted at every corner.

‘Escaping is not an option.’ I said to myself.

Williams was seated opposite my father, they were discussing market trends. My mom cleared her throat to get their attention.

Williams stared at me, with a smirk on his face.

“It's nice to meet you Elena.” He greeted me.

I felt disgusted, standing in front of the same lying and cheating bastard that put me through hell.

I wanted to cry so badly, I once loved him. I didn't deserve to die in such a way.

“Same here.” I replied, forcing out a smile.

“Why don't you have a..” He started off but the sound of the door bell ringing cut him short.

I was about to make my way towards the door when my mom held my hands and said. “Just have a seat, I will get the door.”

I slowly pulled my hands out of hers, then I sat adjacent to Williams.

From where I sat I could hear the conversation going on between my mom and the unknown person that rang the doorbell.

“How may I help you?” My mom asked.

“I am here to see Elena.” The strangely familiar voice replied.

“Who are you? And what business do you have with my daughter?” My mom asked, already annoyed.

“It's me Mason Brown, your son-in-law.”
