Few days passed and yet, Officer Mike was unable to find any lead. However I'd already settled my mind on one suspect, Lena. Even though I had no evidence, I believed she was hiding something.

I started suspecting her the day we talked on phone about the flashdrive. I mean, she gave a witty remark on it.

And like I once said if she was behind something, she would give or make a witty remark about it and if she was innocent she would abruptly deny it by swearing with her life.

Not enough for an evidence right? But I just didn't know how to trust her anymore, she probably did everything just to be with Nicholas. I never really suspect her this much but now I did.

Steven warned me against confronting her but somehow I felt that was the best thing to do. Hence I personally called her and told her I would like to see her.

She gladly fixed a date and time, and then I chose the position. It was at one of the coffee shops around the airport. We met an

After leaving Nicholas behind, I didn't go home directly. I was crying heavily and my face was blurred with tear. Not good for someone who's driving huh? Well, I also thought the same the fact that I wasn't seeing very well. I quickly parked at a park and cried all I could. Now I believed my mom when she told me men would forever be men, even though she later changed that statement and said men aren't that bad after all and also aren't the same. I wouldn't argue about men not being the same but I believed they have a lot of things in common. Steven had been nice to me but that doesn't mean he wouldn't change his mind on me in the future if he had to, men can change in the blink of an eye. I learned that the had way. When Nicholas left me for Lena, I almost committed suicide because I believed I had no reason to keep living. However Steven saved me and gave me a reason to keep living. And now I just felt like I shouldn't have listened to him,

  • Replacement CEO   Chapter 35: Manipulated

Nicholas's POV Some time ago... The day I heard about Stella's rape, I was so crumbled the fact that I loved her so much. She was the love of my life and I was willing to practically do anything just to make her happy. Lena brought the news to me and when I confirmed, I found out it was true. In fact a footage of what happened was shown to me and I couldn't bring myself to believing it was real. Unfortunately, it was actually real. Stella was raped by some guys and Lena told me the guys were Stella's friends. "I don't know why they did that to her but Nichol, Stella isn't innocent" Lena had said and continued, "I caught her making strange calls with someone few weeks ago, promising to pay back her debt. She was obviously owing them a large some of money. You know, she was the one taking care of almost everything in their house. Her salary might not be enough for her..." She kept explaining to me, I thought knowing

  • Replacement CEO   Chapter 36: Check in

With each passing day, my pain kept growing. I couldn't stop thinking about Stella and when I do, I used to feel like breaking down completely. It was something I had no control about, I just couldn't curb the pain.Lena tried all her bests to put a smile on my face and to help me feel better but all efforts proved abortive at first until eventually one of her ways worked out. She told me to come with her for a ride only to drive to the hospital were Stella was, she then advised me to go check on her.I nearly lost my temper on her for bringing me to the hospital without my consent but something just made me saw reason in what she did. I then agreed to do as she said but also requesting for her assistance.Yes, I needed her to follow me to Stella because I wouldn't be able to go there alone. Unfortunately, she said it would be better if I go there alone since it was my mission. "I would pay her a visit some other time, but now it's your day. Pl

  • Replacement CEO   Chapter 37: Surprised

After taking a few days break from work, I decided to return back again. It wasn't as if I was really fit for work but I just didn't want to continue staying back at home. Staying at home doing almost nothing wasn't as easy as it seemed to be, the fact that I used to think more about Stella when I was alone at home. So I decided to just return back to work. When Lena saw me, she was surprised. Same as Kelly who happened to be the Chairman. I believed he took great care of the company while I was away, even though he had always wanted being neutral. He disliked stress. "Sir, I thought you are on..." Lena had said halfway as I quickly cut in, "Not anymore, Lena. I've finally decided to return back. Home is more bored than here" I had said, making her to giggle. "Sorry sir, you should have called me to come pick you up" she had said. "No, it's okay. I can still drive, you know?" I had sighed the m

Ever since Stella returned back, a lot had changed. Before she came back, I never imagined I would ever think about bringing her back to my life but the moment I just saw her I couldn't help myself. Of course I was willing to bring her back to my life but only if she was willing to tell me the truth about everything, and how she ended up being raped. Was it debt? How comes? Did she know they guys that did it to her? Whenever I tried asking her question about the rape she would change the topic. She would tell me to forget it and would try as hard as she could to not say a word about it. And gradually, I became fed up. Hence I approached Lena and asked her if she was really sure about all that she said because for some unknown reason, I was finding it hard to believe all that she told me ever since Stella returned back. And I was also finding it hard not to believe in the words the fact that Stella was obviously hiding something from me.

  • Replacement CEO   Chapter 39: Redhanded

Today was another day at work. Lena welcomed me and then went out to get me a coffee. It was the work of my secretary but she took it upon herself to take good care of me since I was lonely. While checking the necessary files on my desk, she returned back with my coffee. She then handed it to me before sitting on the desk close to me. While staring at me, she smiled charmly. I took a sip from the coffee, added another one again... and again before taking a deep breath and smiling back at her. "This is wonderful, it's awesome. I love it. It's really sweet" I had commented. "Thank you sir, I actually made it myself" she had blinked sexily at me. "Nice, it tastes good. By the way, why the SIR when you could just call me by my name like you used to. I feel uncomfortable when people so close to me call me SIR" I had complained, taking another sip from the coffee. "Well, if you insist. I just want to see you happy

  • Replacement CEO   Chapter 40: Pure lust

Few weeks after Stella left, she sent a resignation letter to us. When I glanced at it I felt a deep pain in my heart, I wasn't actually expecting such from her...you know? I was hoping she would come back after redeeming herself but reverse was the case. I called Lena's attention to the letter and she told me to sign it since that was what Stella wanted. And in less that twenty-four hours, I signed it and sent her an email approving her resignation letter. I also stated in the letter that a sum of five hundred dollars would be deposited to her account as payment for the days she worked with us before quiting the job, and another five hundred dollars as grant to help her settle her bills. That might not be enough to cover all her needs but I believed it was manageable. I arranged a meeting with some of our staff and then appraised them about her resignation. Some asked what happened while some murmured amongst themselves.

  • Replacement CEO   Chapter 41: Kelly's family

Ever since we merged our companies and became one, Kelly and I had been so dedicated to our work. We never had the chance to chitchat or converse about our personal lives, it was always about our company...and nothing more. We also never had the chance to spend time with each other even though we were buddies. Anyways, today I decided to check visit him in his house after work. It was a surprise visit and when he saw me, he was totally speechless. He stuttered while welcoming me into his house. There I met his children, Zion and Travis eating in the dining room. Kelly walked me straight to the dining room and served me as well, despite telling him I was okay. Well, in order not to look somehow to him and his children I decided to eat the food. "Angela is at work, right?" I asked about his wife, she was a surgeon in one of the prominent hospitals in the city. "Yes, she was called an hour ago" Kelly had replied. "Emergency, huh?" I had s

Years later... People used to say if you love something, never give up on that thing. Well I didn't believe in that adage until I finally met Nicholas. And now being his wife made me realized how TRUE love can be, and how victorious patience can make one be. Nicholas and I got married a year ago and we had just given birth to twins, a girl and a boy. It was a dream come true and I couldn't even express how happy I was. Nicholas was so happy too, same also his mom, my mom, Mr. Anderson, Elizabeth, officer Mike, and even Kelly who was Nicholas best man during our wedding. A lot had happened in the past years I would like you to know. First about Lena. She was released by the CAI and was returned back to the police after so much intervention by many freedom fighters and human right groups who sympathized her parents. The CAI had found her guilty of sponsoring some of the most wanted thugs in the continent to ubdertake certain acts of cr

  • Replacement CEO   Chapter 77: Families

Few days after finding out the truth that Mr. Anderson was indeed my biological father, I had not been able to think straightforward about my relationship with Nicholas. Mr. Anderson had also been touched by the sudden discovery, he had not been as vibrant as he used to be. That day he told me the reason why he left my mom and that he was so sorry. He told me he left my mom because their relationship was going as planned. They used to have problems and would debate over almost everything every blessed day. Hence he decided to move on with his life. "I am so sorry, I know what I did was a reason but now I feel like I shouldn't have done that" he had added, sobbing quietly. He then asked for my mother's pictures to which I showed him. He sobbed even more after seeing her picture, hating himself for all that he did and for abandoning us. He said he learned how to stay in a relationship for better or worst after marrying Nicholas's mom.

  • Replacement CEO   Chapter 76: True blood

The following day, just as mom left for work I called Nicholas to come and pick me up. And when he came, I decided to show him the pictures of my dad. They were placed in places he had never stepped his foot on in our house. Actually, I just wanted him to justify whether my dad was the Mr. Anderson fathering his younger sister. Fortunately, when he sees the pictures he was shocked. He told me even though the pictures looked younger than Mr. Anderson, he believed there was resemblance. Thus, he pulled out his phone from his pocket and snapped the pictures saying he would show them to Mr. Anderson as soon as we arrived at their house in Vinewood. Then he helped me pack three of my luggage to his car as quick as we could and left. But before we left, I had left a note for my mom to come and on the center table, telling her I would be going far away from everyone and I wouldn't be back until she agrees to reconsider my relationship with Nicholas

  • Replacement CEO   Chapter 75: Annoyed

Few weeks after the incident that occurred between me and Nicholas, I decided to start talking to my mom about our relationship. At first I told her Nicholas had been trying to reconcile with me but then she told me to shun him away. When I told her the second time she told me to be very careful with him and to not end up overthinking over him. She also advised me to consider Steven, reminding me of his countless sacrifices and devotion to me. Anyways today I decided to tell her that I had fallen for him again, and if she told me to stay away from him and consider Steven I would tell her my relationship with Steven is better off the way it is now. Brotherly stroke sisterly. Nothing more and nothing less. While gently walking to her room with the help of a staff, I walked past one of the pictures of my dad to which I once again found it resembling Mr. Anderson. Something told me it was the same person but I just couldn't believe it because I believed my dad wa

  • Replacement CEO   Chapter 74: Home

While on our way to the airport, Nicholas called Captain Omar and told him to prepare our flight. The way he talked, you would assume he was in a fight with someone. I understood his pain but it was for the greater good. When I finally convinced my mom to consider our relationship again, I could spend weeks with him in his parents' house. Elizabeth thought we were going to the public airport but when she saw Nicholas driving us to a remote area she asked where we were heading to, "I thought we are going to the main airport?" she added. "No, I brought a plane. We are going to an abandoned airstrip, that's where our plane is" he said increasing the speed of the car. "Wow big bro, I never knew you have a plane?" she sarcastically uttered. "No, it's not mine" he robotically replied her. "Your friend's?" she asked. "No, hired!" he said and then urged her to allow him to focus on the road bec

  • Replacement CEO   Chapter 73: Dining

While in the dining room, Nicholas looked worried. He must be thinking thoroughly about what I recently told him. It would really be better if he returned me back home to avoid making this worst or more complicated for himself and somehow, for me as well. I had promised him that if he returned me back, I would not disclose what happened to anybody and I would try my best to convince my mom into considering our relationship again. Even though that wouldn't be easy, but I would try my utmost best to see that it happens. His mother asked if I loved it in there house and I smiled at her while eating the vegetables in my plate, I didn't even know what to say to her. Of course they had a wonderful house and I would have loved it if I was on an official visit. But sadly, I was forced and brought there. It wasn't even as if my mom knew I was there, and what made me more uncomfortable in the house was that I was so concerned about my mom's condition.

  • Replacement CEO   Chapter 72: Workout room

When it was time for dinner, Nicholas came to summon us from the workout room. He saw Elizabeth smiling thus, he asked her why she was smiling. As if that wasn't enough of a pestering, he was trying to snatch away the photo album in her hands. She quickly pulled herself away from his reach and pouted at him before leaving. She was really funny, and also playful. Nicholas's smiles disappeared as she left, thus he looked at me with a very sad look and asked if I had at least thought a little about what he told me already. He was really wanting me to return back to his life as if that would be easy. I heaved a sigh and told him I would make that decision with my mom when I returned back home. Instead of him to understand my point, he became more sad and told me if he loose me again then he would loose himself. He would also never forgive himself. He then grabbed the handle of my wheelchair and began wheeling me out of the workout room. He wasn't really happy, up

  • Replacement CEO   Chapter 71: Sisters

In the evening before being called to eat lunch, I was with Elizabeth in the workout room. She was really a nice girl judging from how friendly she was. She told me stories about her life and how both she and Nicholas would play around the streets with some of the kids from their neighborhood. She was fifteen years old, about clocking sixteen. And she resembled Nicholas, though not much. She was more like her father than her mother, and since they weren't sharing the same biological father their resembles wasn't that much. She showed me some of her old pictures from their family album, she was really cute even when she was a child. One funny thing was that she looked like me when I was a child too. The resemblance was clear and vivid, thereby prompting me to remember the fact that we were obviously sharing the same father even though I wasn't really sure about it yet. I decided to ask her about her father and that if he had ever told her abo

When Nicholas kidnapped me to his hometown in Vinewood, I was so angry. But when I met his stepfather, I became overly confused. It was something I never expected and to be honest, I nearly passed out.First of all our plane landed safely at a remote airport. Then Nicholas called an uber to come and pick us up. He convinced me to not scream or attempt calling for help and I obeyed. Not because I was scared but because he promised to return me back home safely if I cooperate with him. And that was why I behaved and remained silent as told.Upon arriving at their house, we were humbly welcomed in by his mom and then stepsister whom he once told me her name was Elizabeth. She was really cute, and his mom was beautiful as well.We were then walked to the dining table and served lunch. Nicholas then asked where is stepfather was, and his mom told him the man just went inside to plug his phone on charger. He used to call the man Mr. Ande
