Years later...
People used to say if you love something, never give up on that thing. Well I didn't believe in that adage until I finally met Nicholas. And now being his wife made me realized how TRUE love can be, and how victorious patience can make one be.
Nicholas and I got married a year ago and we had just given birth to twins, a girl and a boy. It was a dream come true and I couldn't even express how happy I was. Nicholas was so happy too, same also his mom, my mom, Mr. Anderson, Elizabeth, officer Mike, and even Kelly who was Nicholas best man during our wedding.
A lot had happened in the past years I would like you to know. First about Lena. She was released by the CAI and was returned back to the police after so much intervention by many freedom fighters and human right groups who sympathized her parents.
The CAI had found her guilty of sponsoring some of the most wanted thugs in the continent to ubdertake certain acts of cr
Being the only child of my mom, I lived up to her expectations...doing everything I could to please her and making sure I don't piss her even a bit. My dad was a pervert, he got her pregnant with me and dumped her. Although he later came back but didn't stay long, he left again... moving on with his life elsewhere. Anyways, that was two decades ago and now I didn't even care if he was alive or not. My only concern was my mom, she was yet to get over him. I didn't just know why she couldn't get him off her head, maybe it was because I used to remind her of him. She said I looked pretty much like him, even though I didn't used to see the resemblance. In her room she placed a big portrait of him, whenever I see it I hiss. I overly disliked him to the core. I hated to think about him. ...Today being Sunday, I had nothing much to do than shop for groceries. I used to do that every weekend and every dime I spent came out of my pocket. My mom was a cook at KFF, a small fast-food restau
A few minutes before 7 pm, I lied to my mom that I wanted to see someone in our neighborhood. She asked who the person was and I told her Mrs. Coffer, thus she nodded and told me not to stay long. As happy as I was, I walked out and headed to Mrs. Coffer's house. The aged woman welcomed me in and asked, to what does she owe the pleasure. I smiled and lied to her that I just wanted to check on her and her grandson, Sam. It'd been a while since I last visited. She sighed and got me a coffee. "Sam's mother came and took him away not long ago," she said. "I am all alone now," she muttered. "Isn't he coming back soon?" I asked concerned. "Not as far as I know," she said. "So," she continued trying to hide her pain by wearing a lit smile on her face. "How is your mother?" She asked. "My mom is fine, though she's been on sick leave for some days now" I briefed her. "Fever?" she asked. "No, stress" I replied. "Oh, send my regards to her when you get back home please," she said. "Sure!
When I reached home yesterday, my mom wasn't happy at all. I tried to explain things to her but she told me never to mess with her again. She was really angry, more than she had ever been with me. Well, today was just another day, I prepared myself and drove to work as early as possible. I was supposed to go by 9 am but I had a lot to do today. Rebecca's work, plus the bunch of articles that needed to be edited before tomorrow... When I arrived at work, I parked my car in the parking lot and headed to my office. I was on the 10th floor together with my team and Lena, just two floors below the CEO's floor. Talking about the CEO, a new guy was coming to take over the company today. I just hoped he wasn't a bad guy, I disliked bad guys. He should be as cool and good as the former CEO, Mr. Rogers. I was about to log into my computer when Lena arrived, she was wearing a low-cut suit today which revealed her cleavage. "Hey, morning!" she said smiling broadly. "Morning, you looking good
Nicholas introduced himself to us and gave us a short speech. In his speech, I expected him to talk more about his relationship with Mr. Rogers – his father – but he did not. Well, not bad. After the speech, he stared at me for some seconds before leaving together with his escorts. Lena followed him, making sure I acknowledged how upset she was with me. But why upset? As if I did something wrong. I heaved a sigh and watched as everyone else left the conference room. I didn't want to leave now because I needed some time to think, yes...to think about everything that had happened. If only I knew he was the new CEO yesterday, I would have been more polite to him and wouldn't have taken his umbrella away from him. Although he was the one that willingly offered the umbrella to me himself. Now what? It was obvious Lena was into him, though she denied it. Not concerned about that though, but why wasn't he acknowledging her except me? She was more beautiful, more sexy, I couldn't even comp
Yesterday I slept late in the night, somehow I couldn't stop thinking about all that had transpired in the conference room when Nicholas arrived. I didn't understand his constant stares, I felt like he had something to tell me or he just needed his umbrella back. Anyways, today I would return his thing to him. He would probably be happy to have it back...it was an expensive umbrella, a Maglia Francesco cherry wood umbrella. When my mom first saw the Umbrella, I had to lie to her that it wasn't the original one because she couldn't believe Victoria could afford or own such an expensive brolly. I had told her it was Victoria's because I couldn't bring myself to lie to her that it was given to me by a stranger. And not just any stranger, A MAN. She would tell me to return it to the person or get rid of it. After preparing for work today, I drove off as fast as I could. I didn't go early today, hence I met our floor almost filled. Lena, though, wasn't around and it didn't seem she came
Nicholas tried all he could to make me sit in one of the swivel chairs facing him but I refused, I told him I was okay standing. "Are you a soldier or something?" he sarcastically asked."No sir" I gulped fidgeting my fingers."Okay, since you don't wanna sit I think I should stand up too" he said, pulling up to his feet."Huh?" I wrinkled my brows, dumbfounded."Yeah, we are even now" he adjusted his necktie. "So," he cleared his throat, "where are you from? You look like someone I knew""I grew up here, Vincity, but my mom came from Icetown" I said amicably."And your dad? Where is he from?" he asked. I'd wanted telling him the little I knew about my inhuman dad but decided to just keep quiet instead. "Is everything okay, Stella?" he asked, confused."Yes, nothing sir" I gulped."Okay, so tell me...where did your dad came from?" he rephrased."I... I am sorry sir but can we not talk about that please? At least not yet"
Since the discovery of oil in Crudetown, the indigenous people of the region had been in war with the government. They wanted to be the ones in-charge of all the oil and gas exploitation. The government responded to their yearnings by offering them jobs in the oil sector and improving their welfare but that didn't change their minds, they still wanted to be in control. Gradually, they started rioting and attacking government buildings. They had also killed several government officials and had brutalized others. Journalists weren't spared as well, Raymond nearly lost his life few months back when some militants launched an attack in the hotel he and other journalists lodged. Luckily, he survived it. He reported back to our head office later on and was reposted to somewhere else. Now, he was summoned and told to return back to Crudetown. He tried all he could to change our Director's mind but was told he was the only one
Nicholas and I talked about Raymond yesterday, after which I returned back to my workspace at our floor. I was so happy the fact that things were going to be fine for Raymond, Nicholas had promised to stop the director from transferring him back to Crudetown. When I returned back to our floor, Lena approached me aggressively and began asking series of questions. She wanted to know what took me to the CEOs office and why I went directly to him without her permission. Like seriously? Did I really need her permission to see our overall boss?Anyways, I had nothing to hide so I told her what took me to his office. She became more furious, threatening to report me to the Director for defiling his judgement about reposting Raymond to Crudetown. I had to implore her to change her mind because I wasn't ready to be in trouble with anybody. When I returned back home, I saw a police patrol car packed in our compound with someone leaning on it. It wa

Few days after finding out the truth that Mr. Anderson was indeed my biological father, I had not been able to think straightforward about my relationship with Nicholas. Mr. Anderson had also been touched by the sudden discovery, he had not been as vibrant as he used to be. That day he told me the reason why he left my mom and that he was so sorry. He told me he left my mom because their relationship was going as planned. They used to have problems and would debate over almost everything every blessed day. Hence he decided to move on with his life. "I am so sorry, I know what I did was a reason but now I feel like I shouldn't have done that" he had added, sobbing quietly. He then asked for my mother's pictures to which I showed him. He sobbed even more after seeing her picture, hating himself for all that he did and for abandoning us. He said he learned how to stay in a relationship for better or worst after marrying Nicholas's mom.
The following day, just as mom left for work I called Nicholas to come and pick me up. And when he came, I decided to show him the pictures of my dad. They were placed in places he had never stepped his foot on in our house. Actually, I just wanted him to justify whether my dad was the Mr. Anderson fathering his younger sister. Fortunately, when he sees the pictures he was shocked. He told me even though the pictures looked younger than Mr. Anderson, he believed there was resemblance. Thus, he pulled out his phone from his pocket and snapped the pictures saying he would show them to Mr. Anderson as soon as we arrived at their house in Vinewood. Then he helped me pack three of my luggage to his car as quick as we could and left. But before we left, I had left a note for my mom to come and on the center table, telling her I would be going far away from everyone and I wouldn't be back until she agrees to reconsider my relationship with Nicholas
Few weeks after the incident that occurred between me and Nicholas, I decided to start talking to my mom about our relationship. At first I told her Nicholas had been trying to reconcile with me but then she told me to shun him away. When I told her the second time she told me to be very careful with him and to not end up overthinking over him. She also advised me to consider Steven, reminding me of his countless sacrifices and devotion to me. Anyways today I decided to tell her that I had fallen for him again, and if she told me to stay away from him and consider Steven I would tell her my relationship with Steven is better off the way it is now. Brotherly stroke sisterly. Nothing more and nothing less. While gently walking to her room with the help of a staff, I walked past one of the pictures of my dad to which I once again found it resembling Mr. Anderson. Something told me it was the same person but I just couldn't believe it because I believed my dad wa
While on our way to the airport, Nicholas called Captain Omar and told him to prepare our flight. The way he talked, you would assume he was in a fight with someone. I understood his pain but it was for the greater good. When I finally convinced my mom to consider our relationship again, I could spend weeks with him in his parents' house. Elizabeth thought we were going to the public airport but when she saw Nicholas driving us to a remote area she asked where we were heading to, "I thought we are going to the main airport?" she added. "No, I brought a plane. We are going to an abandoned airstrip, that's where our plane is" he said increasing the speed of the car. "Wow big bro, I never knew you have a plane?" she sarcastically uttered. "No, it's not mine" he robotically replied her. "Your friend's?" she asked. "No, hired!" he said and then urged her to allow him to focus on the road bec
While in the dining room, Nicholas looked worried. He must be thinking thoroughly about what I recently told him. It would really be better if he returned me back home to avoid making this worst or more complicated for himself and somehow, for me as well. I had promised him that if he returned me back, I would not disclose what happened to anybody and I would try my best to convince my mom into considering our relationship again. Even though that wouldn't be easy, but I would try my utmost best to see that it happens. His mother asked if I loved it in there house and I smiled at her while eating the vegetables in my plate, I didn't even know what to say to her. Of course they had a wonderful house and I would have loved it if I was on an official visit. But sadly, I was forced and brought there. It wasn't even as if my mom knew I was there, and what made me more uncomfortable in the house was that I was so concerned about my mom's condition.
When it was time for dinner, Nicholas came to summon us from the workout room. He saw Elizabeth smiling thus, he asked her why she was smiling. As if that wasn't enough of a pestering, he was trying to snatch away the photo album in her hands. She quickly pulled herself away from his reach and pouted at him before leaving. She was really funny, and also playful. Nicholas's smiles disappeared as she left, thus he looked at me with a very sad look and asked if I had at least thought a little about what he told me already. He was really wanting me to return back to his life as if that would be easy. I heaved a sigh and told him I would make that decision with my mom when I returned back home. Instead of him to understand my point, he became more sad and told me if he loose me again then he would loose himself. He would also never forgive himself. He then grabbed the handle of my wheelchair and began wheeling me out of the workout room. He wasn't really happy, up
In the evening before being called to eat lunch, I was with Elizabeth in the workout room. She was really a nice girl judging from how friendly she was. She told me stories about her life and how both she and Nicholas would play around the streets with some of the kids from their neighborhood. She was fifteen years old, about clocking sixteen. And she resembled Nicholas, though not much. She was more like her father than her mother, and since they weren't sharing the same biological father their resembles wasn't that much. She showed me some of her old pictures from their family album, she was really cute even when she was a child. One funny thing was that she looked like me when I was a child too. The resemblance was clear and vivid, thereby prompting me to remember the fact that we were obviously sharing the same father even though I wasn't really sure about it yet. I decided to ask her about her father and that if he had ever told her abo
When Nicholas kidnapped me to his hometown in Vinewood, I was so angry. But when I met his stepfather, I became overly confused. It was something I never expected and to be honest, I nearly passed out.First of all our plane landed safely at a remote airport. Then Nicholas called an uber to come and pick us up. He convinced me to not scream or attempt calling for help and I obeyed. Not because I was scared but because he promised to return me back home safely if I cooperate with him. And that was why I behaved and remained silent as told.Upon arriving at their house, we were humbly welcomed in by his mom and then stepsister whom he once told me her name was Elizabeth. She was really cute, and his mom was beautiful as well.We were then walked to the dining table and served lunch. Nicholas then asked where is stepfather was, and his mom told him the man just went inside to plug his phone on charger. He used to call the man Mr. Ande
