35. Holding A Playing Chip

April's POV

I got to school early the next day and felt a little lighter despite everything that Dorian had done to me last night.

People were talking to me, and I didn't get those stares or disdain from people anymore. No one was snickering behind me, and the mean comments stopped. I couldn't imagine being this happy; it only took me finding my foot and standing up for myself.

No one has seen Paige and their friends since the meeting with Conrad, and it was a relief. I felt that I could finally breathe.

I sat down at a table in the cafeteria, and soon, someone plopped down in front of me.

“Hello, Alpha's daughter."

I looked up in shock.

“Lucy? What are you doing here?"

“I came to see you. Is there a problem?"

I smiled and took a deep breath.

“No, but do you really want to be seen with me in public? I am sure that if Paige gets back to school, she will be all over me, and I don't want to rope you in with her again.”

Lucy bowed her head and chuckled, and her eyes lit up beaut
