Chapter 66

Ethan's heart was beating fast as he stood at the edge of the Moonlit Meadow. The old stones under his feet pulsed with the moon's energy. The air was cool and smelled like pine trees. The stars twinkled in the sky. He couldn't get Gabriel's words from the full moon ritual out of his mind.

Gabriel said, "I was wrong, Ethan," and his voice was full of sorrow. "You are my real destiny."

But before Ethan could answer, a voice broke the silence. It was a voice that made him shiver.

"That's right, Gabriel?"

When Ethan turned around, Amelia was standing there with hurt and angry eyes. She had been hiding in the dark and listening to what was going on.

Gabriel sucked hard, and his face turned pale. "Amelia, I can try to explain."

Ethan's hands were tightly closed at his sides. He had believed Gabriel would be honest and try to make up for what he had done, but now it seemed like a cruel game.
