229. Repentance

[Zeve’s POV]

The guards near Talia’s cell became alert. I took off my hood, and they bowed.

“Open the cell,” I ordered. They did.

I entered the cell. Talia was shackled with the stone walls, her hands chained to the ceiling and her feet nailed to the floor.

The guards entered, and I gestured for them to leave the cell.

Her hair hung over her face.

“What is she?”

“Who is she?”

“Demon.”

“Kill her.”

I heard the dragon fairies speak in my head.

“Talia,” I took her name. The chains jingled, and she broke out of her sleep.

“You! You came…” I grabbed her mouth. All she could do was grunt and take out incoherent sounds from her throat. Her recent memories transferred to me.

“So, Lynx is indeed in the Regina mountains, huh?”

I left her mouth, pushing her back as I stood at a safe distance from her.

“Free me!” she said, as if she was entitled to order me.

“Why should I?” I asked, folding my hands over my waist.

“Because I can be useful to you. I can take you to the one who is behind all this…
