Kaelan
My lips curled up in a smile after Joye had finished her sentence. It wasn't like I hadn't expected it, the joy of hearing her say it herself was just superior to that of just knowing."I guess that settles the argument. She is now my mate and I'd love for everyone to please accord her the respect she deserves." I announced as though they hadn't heard Joye's words at first.I was happy to be blessed with a mate. And a fine one at that. One look at her and I could tell that Joye was a good woman. Under the dirt on her face was a beautiful young lady that needed nothing but love.At first, I had been scared, yesterday was the first full moon of the month. And a mate selection ball was held for unmated wolves to find their partners. Mine was unsuccessful, and it had me worried for a bit. But thank goodness that I came to Nightfall Pack. The moon goddess was on my side, and she led me straight to my mate.I was grateful to the moon goddess for her guidance. And the same time grateful that Ethan had no taste in women. If he hadn't denounced Joye, I probably wouldn't have sensed a strong connection between the two of us.I felt pity for the poor boy, who on earth would take a look at Joye, and leave her for that bit... I decided not to go wild with my thoughts. The important part was that I had finally found my mate.I was holding myself back from standing from my seat and hugging Joye. She had no idea just how happy I was that she chose me. These people didn't deserve her. They maltreat her, yet they want her to choose them regardless. They were sickening."You're squealing like a girl inside." My wolf, Andre taunted and I laughed inwardly."She's the one isn't she?" I asked just for the fun of it. It was obvious she was the one. There was no need for further questions."Definitely." My wolf confirmed. "I've never felt this attracted to anyone else."Rising from my seat, I took a step closer to Joye and pulled her gently into my embrace. I didn't mind if she was dirty or anything, I just wanted to hold her."You bi—" Ethan made to speak, but was quickly restrained by his mother. It was the right move, had he cursed at my mate, I might have lost my temper."The girl has made her decision, we have no other choice than to respect her wishes." The Luna cautioned while Ethan gritted his teeth in rage.Everyone seemed to be annoyed by the fact that I was chosen instead of Ethan. All except for Aurelia. She wasn't showing it, but my lycan senses were more advanced than the normal wolf. So much advanced that I could smell one's emotions even from their scent. She was happy Joye was leaving. Probably because I was helping her get rid of a potential threat to her relationship with Ethan. Out of everybody here I hated her the most. Not only was she uncultured, but she seemed to believe she was somehow better than Joye.'Crazy People.' I commented mentally. "Shall we get down to other businesses of tonight?" I inquired from the Alpha who nodded in affirmation. After a short interaction with the rest of his family, he dismissed those who weren't important for the meeting. Leaving only his beta who I perceived was Aurelia's father, Ethan, himself, and I. The four of us were the only people involved with the business contract. Before I left for the meeting, I planted a kiss on Joye's forward, to spite her enemies. She was shocked by my actions, but I calmed her down with a smile. She probably wasn't used to getting treated nicely, and it was all thanks to these cruel monsters."Please take care of her while I'm gone," I said to Aiden who arched a brow in suspicion."Is there anything I should be worried about here, my lord?" He questioned."No, not really. I just need you to take care of her." He understood after the second order. I didn't trust these people to not harm Joye while I was gone. They might kidnap her and sell her out just to spite me. But that was unlikely. My power far outclassed theirs, they wouldn't try to get on the Lycan king's bad side. Still, I didn't want to take risks."Maybe you can help her pack her things. We would probably be leaving the moment I get out of the meeting." I informed before walking out of the dining room. The others were already settled when I got to the meeting room. And only when I was settled, did the meeting begin.Nightfall Pack was trying to sign a deal with my company, and I found a partnership with them to be fruitful. Finding my mate in their domain was proof enough."Shall we get down to business, gentlemen?" I urged. After a minute of silence, the Alpha finally handed me the contract documents."Everything about our partnership is well described in those papers. You can sign on it after you've gone through it."I picked the file up and immediately got to work. I wanted to finish here as soon as possible so I could get back to being with my mate.I was the CEO of a conglomerate company, and from the information I read from the file, Nightfall Pack wanted a partnership with two of our business industries. Our refinery, and construction company. It was indeed a splendid choice. Although our refinery was still new, it wasn't lacking. However, getting into a partnership with a powerful pack like Nightfall would further improve its status. After I was done with the first part of the contract agreement, I went down to the revenue aspect of the deal. This was where I would decide if this deal would benefit my company, or hamper its progress."Five percent profit from Nightfall Pack's monthly revenue, and an additional ten percent share of its annual revenue. Interesting." I read out loud. "Raise the annual profit to fifteen percent, and I might consider signing this partnership.""With the monthly profits, ten percent profit at the end of the year seems like a fair deal," Ethan argued. Although he was stupid with his life choices, it was obvious he was well-informed about the business industry."Oil business is no easy deal and you know it. Your company is going to profit more than mine in this partnership, an extra five percent wouldn't mean much considering the profits you'll be gaining." I returned."Fine, we'll raise the annual profit by five percent." The Alpha concurred. After the adjustments were made, I signed at the designated spots and agreed."Thank you for your cooperation, King Kaelan." The Alpha appreciated and I lowered my head in respect."Thank you for having me. I never would have found my mate if it wasn't for this deal."I watched as Ethan's hands folded into a fist, but the young lad was able to control his rage. It marveled me just how much he wanted to have Joye. But at the same time wouldn't treat her the right way. His way of thinking was despicable, and I hated greedy men. After the meeting was concluded, I headed straight for where Aiden and Joye stood waiting for me. She was all cleaned up and neat when I arrived, and I couldn't help but be awestruck by her beauty. Those beautiful hazel eyes, her seraphic features, and her angelic character. Those were the make-ups of my mate. She was perfect in every possible way."The car is ready, my lord," Aiden announced."Let's get going. There's no time to waste here anymore." I ordered and soon we were heading towards the car, with Joye right by my side. Her bags were already taken by the butler before I arrived, and as we walked I held her hands to squeeze away the doubt and fear in her head.I wanted her to feel comfortable around me and not scared. I understood that it wasn't her fault, these monsters have taught her to always be afraid of those in power. But I was nothing like them, I was her mate, her real mate."Don't be scared, everything's going to be alright," I assured with a smile. She returned my smile with a weak one, but it was enough to make the butterflies in my stomach go wild. Lifting her head to face me, she asked."Where are we going right now, King Kaelan?""Call me Kaelan." I requested. She smiled before correcting herself."Where are we going Kaelan?"I squeezed her hand gently once more before answering."We're going to your new home."Joye A month had passed since the events of the red moon, and so far everything has been peaceful. Damages around the Kingdom were being repaired, and the Lycans and my people have reached a mutual agreement to not indulge themselves in war again. As the leader of our respective clans, Kaelan and I had been the ones who reached this agreement, and the others had complied. Both clans suffered casualties, and nobody wanted to feel the pain of losing a loved one ever again.A memorial was held for the soldiers that had fallen in battle, and their families were compensated. Although the destruction this time was mild, we all knew that everybody wouldn't survive. It was a tough problem to deal with, but thankfully we were able to pull through and stop a century old curse from wiping out good people. After the night was over, the elders had all visited me to apologize. I never really cared about them, but I still accepted their apology. We weren't friends, and I certainly wouldn't involve
JoyeIt was just as I had expected, not everyone of the infiltrators had listened to the man from earlier who I had learnt his name to be Luke. Out of the six infiltrators, two had remained adamant and continued to cause chaos in the mansion. As the only person who stood a chance against them, I had to intervene. Once again I had left regaining my strength to protect everyone in the castle, and fighting two people at once was no easy task. The little strength I managed to regain I had lost once more and time was quickly running out. There was barely thirty minutes before everything ended. If I failed to break the curse within these last minutes, then everything and the deaths would be for nothing. My strength wasn't fully restored yet, but I couldn't waste anymore time. Aiden and the others were waiting for me, I couldn't keep them waiting any longer than this. I got down from where I was, and took a deep breath, it was now or never, I couldn't risk failing a second time. "Let me
Kaelan"She failed?" I gasped just before I decapitated another adversary. A man from Aiden's unit had just informed me that Joye's first attempt to break the curse had not been successful, and she was yet to return to try a second time. We had barely thirty minutes until the red moon falls, and if she didn’t manage to break the curse within those thirty minutes, then we were doomed to repeat this experience in the next two years. I was already back in my human form due to exhaustion, and I was losing more strength as I fought off the unending horde of opponents. Although we had managed to keep casualties on our side to the minimum, most of us were already out of energy. This last thirty minutes would be the determining factor of this entire situation."I'm sure she's going to make it." I voiced out to the messenger's hearing. "Tell Aiden and the rest to keep guarding the place, I trust Joye, she won't back away so easily." I ordered while holding off the crowd from approaching the m
Joye I had no idea who sounded the alarm, but I recognized that scream very well. It was Olivia's voice, I had no idea what had happened to her, but I was certain she wasn't doing well. "You need to rest, she's not important. You need to conserve your energy in order to face Azira." Rainbow advised. She had read my thoughts. I wanted to rush out to save Olivia, but Rainbow had reminded me just how much I hated Olivia. Wasting my energy on people like her wasn't worth it.Countless times Olivia had shown just how much she despised me, and I still had no idea why she hates me so much. I wanted to blame it on the fact that I was different from her and the rest, but I knew her hatred went beyond just being different. "She's Kaelan's sister, I have to help her." I said, but Rainbow wasn't on board with that decision."Save her then what? Waste your recovered energy on another fight? If you leave this room you're going to run into an enemy. And once you run into one, you'll be forced to
JoyeI sat on the podium that tormented my every nightmare, the same podium where Azira had been burnt. I could feel her energy all around me, but I chose to focus on completing my task rather than focusing on a dead woman. She had caused pain for these people, and needed to be stopped at all cost. The red moon had already risen, all I needed to do was end the curse on time and help the Lycans regain their strength. This was a do or die situation, failure was not an option.I savored the flow of power in me. The pure energy that flowed from the air and nature around me. This was purification, the air around me was being purified and soon the kingdom will be as well. This curse has harmed a lot of innocent families and stolen happiness away from them. I was going to restore the peace these people once had and stop this curse once and for all. I was almost at the climax of power when suddenly the flow stopped, my body suddenly began feeling unwell and for some reason. I felt pow
KaelanEvery passing second felt like a torturous hour to me. Only twenty four more hours were left until the red moon fully rose in the sky. In a few hours my people would be torn apart by the demons that hunt us every two years. Joye was our only hope, if she failed to break the curse tomorrow night, then we were all doomed. A handful of the enemies had already made it past the borders, and although we had managed to capture a lot of them, there were still some that were in the kingdom waiting for the right time to strike. It didn't matter how much we fortified our borders, the enemies always found their way in. It was something that was beyond our control, but that didn't mean that we would just leave the gates open for them to jump inside all willy nilly. The fear in my heart was persistent, but I chose to have faith and trust in Joye. Even though everybody doubted her, my trust in her remained unwavering. She had trained from morning till night, the least I could do to acknowle
