"Dana! You're awake!" said my mother. She walked towards me and hugged me, but I noticed she regretted it.

I remembered our situation. I didn't know how to look at her because things weren't right between us.

I hadn't felt a hug from my mother in days because we had distanced ourselves. Feeling her maternal warmth made me breathe easier. I was happy to have her there, but the resentment threatened to surface and ruin the moment. It wasn't easy for me to trust Mom after how she treated me.

I looked at the doctor, who was standing by the door. I remembered Thomas and what he did.

"Mom... what are you doing here?"

"Demian called me to tell me what happened."

"Mom..." I called her. My chin trembled, but I tried not to cry. I stretched my arms out for her to hug me again. I was afraid she would reject me, but she didn't.

Mom hesitated for two seconds, then walked towards me and hugged me.

"Mom," I cried. "I'm going through a tough time, Mom. I'm living a nightmare."
