ANNA KYLIN CHESTER

WE GOT TO the school, and while Aiden and Addison went on ahead to join their pairs, I took Olly to the receptionist's office to process his admission.

The receptionist didn't seem really thrilled to see me, and her hostilities were not disguised, although she was polite. She was cold as she spoke to Olly.

"Where are your parents?" She asked.

Olly started to answer, but his voice was hinged with uncertainty, so I had to step in. "I am his guardian."

"Let the boy answer, Mrs. Chester," She said to me.

"His parents work for me," I retorted. "So I am his legitimate guardian. There is no need for any other question, just give him the questions for 5th grade."

She scowled at me for a few seconds more then she nodded and went into another office, probably the principal's.

I frowned. What was it with this woman? What were the hostilities about? I didn't even know her, and neither did she know me.

Her stupidity at just blowing off the vampire threat is kinda of hard to take. Like why risk the kids going to a human school and then just bounce around town alone.
