MITCH CHESTER

HE HELD ON to Anna's hand even though she drifted off again, he watched the slow rise and fall of her chest. "She is going to be fine," His beast growled. Mitch nodded to convince himself, and then he stood up and went to the front room.

"Is she getting better?" He asked Lorna.

"You, tell me," Lorna replied. "The children told me she woke up." Mitch nodded. "That's an improvement," Lorna said. "I was not expecting her to wake up until a couple of days."

Mitch snorted. "Do you have any of those weird teas? I need one."

"I don't have any "weird" tea," Lorna snapped. "But there's coffee."

Mitch nodded. "I'd take that."

As Lorna poured the steaming drink into a small ceramic cup, she asked, "Did Anna say anything when she woke up?"

Mitch took a small sip of the coffee and nodded. "This is good coffee."

Lorna scoffed. "I grew the seeds in the backyard."

"With these conditions?" He asked, gesturing out at the snow and ice all around.
