Chapter 51

The day I ascended to the title of Alpha, the pack plunged into chaos. Some of them turned rebellious under my leadership. Handling a pack was never an easy task; it was daunting.

"It's hard," I muttered to myself, staring at the new pile of records on my desk. Killian had become my beta, a choice I made.

"What do you mean, Nathalie?" he asked, concern evident in his eyes as he gazed at me. "You look tired. Why don't you rest for a while?"

"No!" I hissed sharply, glaring at him. "I need to complete this today, or else..."

"Or else what?" he challenged.

"They're going to be disappointed in me!" I mumbled angrily, punching the desk lightly. "I need my people to see that I am a capable Alpha, but..."

"Hey, hey, hey. Hush! It's going to be okay!" Killian whispered, approaching me. He pulled me into a hug and suggested I take three deep breaths.

Inhale. Exhale.

I no longer felt on the verge of a panic attack and thanked him for his support.
