Chapter 15

I have tried all means to contact Professor Evan, but he hasn't answered my calls. I purposely skipped my last class because I wanted to visit Professor Evan's condo. My remaining cash was just enough for me to get there, but the guard told me that Professor Evan had moved out.

I was late.

In my room, I cried myself to sleep and blamed myself for what I had done.

Why didn't he even say goodbye to me properly?

I wonder if he pities me. That would be even more heart-wrenching.

I kept thinking about it until I fell asleep—but I was awakened by a sudden noise in my room.

"Who is it?" I mumbled to myself, clutching my blanket. My gaze swept the room, landing on a man's silhouette.

Gasping, I seized my table lamp and clenched my eyes shut, bracing to confront the intruder when a familiar voice halted me.

"It's me, Nathalie."

My eyes widened. "Professor Evan?!"

He emerged from the shadows, leaning against the wall. His expression was unreadable; I couldn't discern his thoughts.
