Amaya couldn't tell how long she had run as she only stopped when she felt her whole body exhausted. Panting, she sat down on a nearby pavement. It was then she looked and saw she was at the park. She inhaled slowly, the words of the girls jabbing her all over again. Tears welled up in her eyes and she blinked, forcing them back. She could not cry now. At least not yet. She imagined the news travelling round the Pack, the uncomfortable and judgemental stares that would be coming her way. She wondered if Damian had heard it by now. He would hate her. “Amaya…”She noticed a figure standing before her and looked up through her hazy eyes. Her mouth parted. “Alpha Lucius…How did you find–”“Shhhh. I only need you to say the words and I take you home”“And why will you take her home?” a voice thundered behind them. “Alpha Damian?” Amaya gasped, scrambling to her legs. She had imagined her life getting worse but never did she imagine this scenario. Damian glared at Lucius. “You sent you
AMAYA'S POV “Wait here,” Amaya said, helping Lucius to the pavement of an abandoned house. She started to leave and he tried to stop her, eyes clouded with uncertainty. “I won't be long,” she assured him. Some minutes later, she returned with some herbs. Squeezing them in between her palms, she made a mixture with it and began to apply it on his injuries. She could feel him watching her keenly as she silently tended to his wounds. He softly grasped her hand. “Don't stress yourself. They'll heal.”“Still you should at least apply something.”“Amaya…” he ventured gently. “I'm sorry…I shouldn't have acted that way in your presence.”She sighed, the last glimpse of Damian's face she saw before walking off with Lucius flashing her head. She wondered what he was thinking at that moment, if he hated her more than he already did, if he would… She shook her head pushing the thoughts away. “Why did you provoke him? You know he can't hold back.”“Come with me, let's go home,” Lucius said sof
Suddenly the glass left Damian's grasp and shattered on the floor. Damian tumbled sideways and before Amaya would react, he collapsed to the floor with a dull thud. Amaya pulled him to lie on the sofa in the room. His body was burning up. She got a wet rag and pressed on his forehead sighing as she did. For a split second it crossed her mind she had been sighing the entire day. How much could she endure before the day ended? Damian moaned in his sleep. A painful moan and he incoherently mumbled names of his dead mate and father. “Father…father…father…” He grunted in his sleep, gripping onto Amaya's hand. At a point, his moans turned into low grunt and then screams. Amaya called his name and shook him awake.“Are you alright?” She asked, gently. Not seeking answers, just wanting to ensure he was alright. Damian glanced around, panting. On the realisation, a cold emptiness settled in his chest. It had only been in his nightmare. The warmth of his father he had felt was only in his
AMAYA “Why do you always train this hard? We are not allowed to go to war like the men and by the way, there's no more war, in case you forgot,” my best friend Nelo mumbled with a frown as we tiptoed down the corridor. “And really, com'on. Things have changed. We are no longer in the olden days where the packs go to war all the time and everyone can join in just because they can shift into their wolves and—”“Shhhh.” I quickly shushed her and pinned her to the wall as I heard footsteps approaching. “No, for real, tell me honestly. Why are you pushing yourself too hard? Or wait… don't tell me you are hoping to find favour in the eyes of Alpha Lucius?” I waited until the footsteps became distant before I let my hand free. “No way…” she stared at me with her eyes wide and then gasped. “What?” I arranged the warrior kit on my body half listening to more of her unproven and mere gut-feeling suspicions. Knowing Nelo, she was about to say the most ridiculous thing. And of course she di
AMAYA'S POV “I know too,” I whispered back and we glanced at Nelo whose eyes were firmly rooted at the entrance in anticipation. Nelo's eyes may have been the one focused on the entrance but truthfully I was the most anxious. I didn't understand the reason for the way my heart was racing. “Shhh! Shut your mouths or I shut it for you girls!” Instructor Matt bellowed at the top of his voice again. The thudding sound of what I imagined to be from the boot of a heavy sole sounded against the floor and a few seconds later Alpha Lucius walked into the hall with two men following closely behind him. The hall went silent instantly so much you could hear a tiny pin drop. “Bow your heads! Don't you dare look the Alpha in the eyes!” instructor Matt barked. “Didn't they say we were now living in the new times,” I scoffed inside me. “They do everything modern but where they draw the line is when it comes to bowing for a tyrant.”“Greet your Alpha!”My voice wouldn't be heard anyways so I did
AMAYA’S POV I had never rode in a car as exquisite as this one I was in. The two men which I had been able to distinguish between the Beta and Omega after I heard instructor Matt bidding them goodbye both sat in front while I was left all alone at the back. Lucius must have left in the car that drove off first.A bit of relief for me. I had wondered how uncomfortable it would be riding the same car with him after what happened. My palms felt chilly and sweaty. I rubbed them on my laps. My heart had stopped racing heavily now although I still heard it beat faintly. I tried to wound the window down to stare out of it but caught the unpleasant glare from the rear -view mirror and was forced to stop. Everything was clear but I still had my doubts. The thought that Alpha Lucius was likely my mate frightened me. But seeing as he was bringing me to his house, I thought I was overreacting. He was a tyrant. Although a lot of people didn't see him as such, I never really liked him. A slow p
AMAYA'S POV I didn't know for how long I had been in the dungeon but by the time I realised it, the men had dozed off and their snoring almost drove me crazy. I sat at the extreme edge of the cell. My legs had fallen asleep and pinched. I tried to get up to stretch when the guards came and started to drag me out. “Where are you taking me to?!”I was dragged back into the very last same room I saw. As I was being led in, Lucius dismissed the elders. One was staring at me lustfully as they walked off. It took me a big restraint to not spat on his fat slagged face.I wondered why he brought me out. I was never giving in to his demands. He waited until the elders were all gone and we were left alone in the room. “Have you changed your mind?”“Never,” I gritted. Where my boldness came from baffled me. But the thought of having his lustful tyrant hands on me disgusted me. I knew my refusal to his demands could land me in serious trouble. I was afraid of death and most importantly I was
NELO'S POVMy hatred for Amaya started the very day she was brought into the servants house. Before her arrival, even though I was nothing but a servant, life was fairly perfect for me. Until that day when she walked into the house and everything changed. I was shining so bright until she appeared and dimmed my light. She always found ways to steal my moments. And then she’d cover it with her pretentious smile and fake words of care. I hated it. Hated it more that the only way to shine was to be friends with her. I hated it so much that ever since she stepped foot into the quarters, no one recognized me again. I was always placed below her. It was always her. All the men that practically crawled to have me switched and lined up for her. I stopped receiving gifts and compliments. The girls that used to hover around me all clung to her and worshipped her. And just this one moment I wanted to shine again, just this moment that was meant for me, she had to be there to take it away. B

As the days grew, Amaya felt her wolf gradually slipping into extinction. Before, she at least communicated with her even if she didn't shift but now she rarely spoke back. And with every passing day, she feared that one day her secret would be out in the open for the world to laugh at her and mock her. The stigma that someone wolfless was associated with was painful. Especially for someone like her. She had heard how much Damian detested wolfless people. He said they were weak and did not deserve to live. The realisation that he would look at her with hate and disgust made her stomach twist. She sighed and plopped her head deeper on the pillow. Her mind drifted to earlier in the day. Her conversation with Damian had quickly tensed up. She had crossed a line she knew she wasn't supposed to cross and Damian hadn't taken it lightly. And again he had brandished the killer instinct in him. Damian was cussed and it didn't matter who it was, once he was in that fury, he could kill anyone.
EARLIER ON…“You will be addressing the guards in five minutes, Oliver, Are you ready?” Raze asked Oliver who it was and it had always been his duty to speak to the guards. “I will do it,” Damian interjected, sauntering into the training room. “You will do it?” Raze and Oliver asked, surprised. “You sure you don't want us doing it?”“He wants to impress his lady guest,” Raze whispered. Oliver frowned. “Impress her? But she won't be there.”Damian heard them and shot them a silencing look. “This is a serious issue. I must speak to them myself,” he added, swiping off a strand of hair that tried to come into his eyes. “Have you thought about Balus' offer?” Raze asked. As a matter of fact it was because of that that he was going to address the guards. Lucius was a cunny man. By now Damian was hundred percent certain he'd received news of Balus coming to him for help. He was expecting Lucius to send a spy to his house but he will make sure to not give him a chance to do that. With
AMAYA'S POV I ran out of my room, down the stairs and towards Damian's room.“And where do you think you are going after causing trouble?” Nelly gritted, blocking me. “I'm sorry and I will apologize again if you want me to but right now I'm in a hurry–”“Damian isn't in his room,” she said, unmoving. “Where's he?” I asked, panting. “Why do you want to know so bad? And besides, you don’t have the time to ask for him when you need to serve your punishment–”“I’m sorry and I will accept my punishment whatever it is but I'm in a bit of a hurry right now.” I turned and dashed out. First, I checked the meeting hall building but Damian wasn't there. I didn't know where he was but I would find him. I would find him and I would ask him why… why he bought me despite having to lose in the deal…why he always saved me…why his closeness made my heart flutter… why he was there last night…how he found me in the club…I could hear the racing of my heart. There were so many things I wanted to ask
Amaya shut her eyes and inhaled. Her breath came out in shudders. The drink was gradually leaving her head. She could feel the bar man's ravenous eyes on her. He'd already undressed her with his eyes. The polite smile on his face that once offered her a drink was gone and all she saw was a demon watching his prey and waiting to attack. She was seconds away from being molested and no one was coming to save her. Lyra was probably having the fun of her life somewhere. She reached out to her wolf. She had to help them. This was the most important time she needed her strength, she needed her… she clenched her teeth; she wanted to fight back but it was as though the more she tried to fight, the more her body grew weak. Helpless, she broke into a sad laugh. Her predator did not take her laughing lightly as teeth gnashed. “You are laughing?” he scoffed, advancing towards her. He tried to rip her dress apart but she reached for the sheets and grabbed, pulling them over her and with the wh
WESTWOOD PACK “The seer is here, my Alpha,” a guard announced. Lucius nodded, slightly disgruntled with the information. He didn't even know why he was bringing her in again. He couldn't say if her prophecies were true or not. But he was short on alternatives at the moment. With Amaya still under Derrick’s wings, Balus preparing war against him and Tommy, a time ticking bomb in the hand of Damian, this was his last resort. “You must have already heard. Balus wants war. Does the goddess have any words for me?” He began as soon as the seer arrived. “Are you afraid?” the Seer asked boldly. Lucius jeered. “Me? Afraid of weak Balus and his little Pack? Why will I be? I have thousands of men and need only to say the word and Balus will be a past thing.”“You must not go to war. Never,” the seer warned. Lucius squinted skeptically at her. “What do you mean by that? I am not the one calling for war.”“The most important thing you need right now is the girl Amaya becoming your Luna.”“I'
Amaya opened the door to see Lyra standing there. She resisted the urge to frown. “Let's go to a party. My friend is hosting and she invited me. I am allowed to bring someone and well, let's say I picked you,” Lyra said with an indifferent shrug. Amaya blinked and regarded her for about a few seconds. “You are asking me to go to a party with you?”“That was exactly what I said. Now are you going or not?” Amaya drew in a breath. She wanted to go out. A lot of things were on her mind with Lucius's words taking the lead. “Are you coming or not!” Lyra snapped, angry that she was delaying. “I will go,” Amaya agreed. A party would be perfect to distract her from her thoughts at least for sometime. “I heard a party. Can I come too?” Nelo asked, poking her head out of her door. “Nope. I can only invite one person and she has the slot now. Get ready and we will meet downstairs in fifteen minutes.”“What about Nelly? She won't let us leave.”“I don't need to take permission from the bitc
