CRAVEN PACK

EMPEROR MANSION

Tommy strapped himself to the pillar and waited until the two guards walked past before he proceeded forward.

“Behind the flower bed,” he reminded himself of his destination as he stopped briefly to locate the building adjacent to the third building after the main building just as the letter had said. Confirming that he was in the right direction, he continued walking.

A few more walks and he arrived at the flower bed.

Behind the flower, he sighted a white rock which happened to be what happened to be what exactly he wanted. Glancing around for any danger, he ducked beside the flowers and lifted the rock up. Beneath it lay a white paper which he took and snuck into safety again.

He read the paper and chewed it up. Then he approached a servant. “You there, excuse me. I am one of the guests of your Alpha. How do I locate the training center building?”

The maid pointed him to the direction. He thanked her politely and walked on.

Nelo stood up when she sa

Damian chuckled softly. Why was her lips red and tiny? Why did she shut her eyes? He had been busy staring at her beautiful features and missed a chance to taste those sumptuous lips. He sighed briefly, shutting his eyes as if trying to relive the moment. The memories still lingered in his head. He almost did it. He almost kissed her. How would she have tasted? All through the night he had wondered. “Pretty," he mumbled, grinning. “What is cute?” Raze asked as he and Oliver walked in. “What is it?” Damian questioned squinting his eyes open but not moving in his position. “We are supposed to be on our way already. Remember? The visit to Balus Pack.”“You both should take care of it,” Damian waved dismissively. “Tell the guards I do not want to be disturbed.”He reclined the seat and relaxed in it. His eyes drifted towards the huge picture frame mounted on the wall. The picture of his father. A sense of awareness fell upon him and he wondered if his father was proud of him or if he

AMAYA’S POV My mate. The one that rejected me. The one that made my wolf ache for days. He was standing before me and my heart still ripped apart from those hurtful words of rejection he said to me. I never expected to run into him ever again.Nelo had told me he came to visit Damian with his Beta and I really thought he already left. It was so hard to believe I was standing face to face with him again. My wolf made a whine sound. “Amaya,” he called softly. My fist tightened. How dare he call my name with his filthy mouth. “Don't say my name…” I was going to slam back at him but on a second thought, paused. Maybe meeting him again was for the best. I could get to ask him the one question I have always wanted to ask. “Amaya…” he called again. “Why did you do it? Why did you never give me a chance? Why did you never hesitate before selling me to the highest bidder? Well, it’s useless trying to know now.”“I'm sorry, Amaya. I am still ashamed of myself. Ever since that day, I have r

Behind the window of his hotel room, Lucius stood. The town was beautiful, no doubt. He had specifically asked that his room be the one that overlooked the outstretch of Craven. The thought that he could own it all if he worked hard enough to overthrow Damian crossed his mind. But after what happened today…He took a large gulp of his drink, enjoying the stinging burn in his throat as it travelled down. Some minutes later, he withdrew briefly from the window and refilled his glass before he returned to his position behind the window again. The gathering of the cloud reminded him of his appointment that evening. He chuckled softly. It still felt like magic to him. He had worried for nothing. Maybe he should quit being an Alpha and go into acting instead. How didn't he think of it? He scoffed. She was still naive. But then her gullibility, his gain. And he really needed her to be swimming in a pool of it at the moment. His jaw tightened. If only Damian hadn't interrupted his plan… if

“I have something to tell him. Please let me through!” Nelo screamed at the guards that were blocking her from entering the building. “What is the fuss all about!” Raze snarled, stepping out. “Greetings my Beta,” Nelo greeted quickly, breaking free from the guards. Raze regarded her. Recognizing Nelo as Amaya's friend, he frowned. He never liked Amaya right from the moment Damian forfeited a better gain to acquire her. “The Alpha might have allowed you to stay here because of your friend but shouldn't you know your place…”“Please…allow me an audience with the Alpha. That is all I ask…”“Whatever you have to tell him must wait till morning.” Raze scowled. “Return to your room. You cannot see the Alpha right now,” he added as he turned around to walk back inside. Nelo slided to her knee and grabbed his leg. “Please, it's important that I see him now…”Damian heard the ruckus and came out. He seemed irritated at the scene. “Who are those disturbing my peace at this hour?” He thundere

AMAYA'S POV I was hearing noises outside my room but it felt distant and because I had been trying to force myself to sleep and was finally drifting off, I wanted to allow it to die down. But instead of the noise dying down, I heard something like a foot stomping on my door. Jarring awake, I started to drag myself out of bed to see what was going on only for the door to break open and Damian and familiar faces charged in. Damian stopped in his tracks the moment he saw me. I didn't understand what was going on and asked. But my question only earned me a yell from Nelly. Now I was even more confused why they broke into my room. Damian’s gaze was on me. Cold and dark. Lyra yelled at Nelo for disturbing the peace of the house and as Nelo apologised, it dawned on me what exactly had happened. Nelo must have entered my room the brief moment I stepped out and met it empty. True, at exactly 6:50pm, I had tiptoed out of my room. I was determined to see it to the end. If Lucius truly meant

AMAYA'S POV I could feel Nelly and Lyra’s glare on me as I followed Damian to his room which was on the ground floor. I wondered if Nelo was alright. I couldn't insist on seeing her knowing Damian was probably still furious at her for her horrible mistake. Why did she have to go into my room at the exact time I snuck out. But that aside, the fact that I could have probably been out meeting with Lucius at the time they entered my room. What could have happened had I not been in the room at that moment? What could have happened if the guards were not mounted in the route I was going to take?Damian might have forgiven me for trying to run but would he forgive me if I secretly met Lucius? I bit my lips to stop myself from releasing a sigh and was lucky to look up right in time to see that we had reached Damian's room, missing bumping into his back by an inch. He pushed the door open and I walked into one of the most dark aura yet alluring decor I had ever seen. Dimly lit with deep shado

It had been over an hour since Nelo was banished to her room. She still couldn't believe what had happened–how on earth Amaya was in the room..She was sure she saw her leaving. Just how… She sighed exasperatedly and started towards the door. She had to speak with Amaya. But at the door she stalled, Damian’s glare flashing in her head. She was lucky to still be here, alive. Any other misstep from her and he'd really be sending her parking. She groaned and turned back into the room. Tommy was in prison and she hoped he would rot there for as long as she cared. One nightmare dealt with. She breathed in satisfaction as she reminisced over it. How she had tipped the guards of his whereabouts and lied that she'd seen him sneaking into the main building. She didn't think it would be enough to kill him but she knew it would be enough to keep him away for the meantime. An idea occurred to her. She rose up from the bed and walked to the telephone but on a second thought left it and hurried

BALUS PACK Alpha Balus Landrinth marched into the meeting hall where his council elders were already gathered, their arguing voices booming over the hall.As soon as he settled into his seat, the head of the elders, elder Mamont, got up. “My Alpha, this is unacceptable. Very unacceptable! We may not be as powerful as other Packs but this is a disrespect to us! To you and to us the elders and the entire Balus clan!”“Yes! Very unacceptable!” The other elders roared together in support. “How long must we act dumb, pretending not to see the insults? My Alpha, you must make a decision. We call for war upon Westwood Pack!”“Yes! They have been asking for war for a long time and it's time we gave it to them!” An elder roared. Alpha Balus' jaw tightened. He glared at the elders. “War? War? You want war?”“Yes, we want war!” the elders barked back. Dalus locked his jaw and his fist tightened. How ddre they they try to rope him into war. How dare they…“Keep silent, all of you!” He slammed

Nelo paced around her room. Every second she stopped and stared out of the window, expecting, hoping and praying that somehow her biggest fear would not happen. She hoped that Amaya would have gotten her letter. Although she would have hoped that somehow she didn't and that Damian would overcome and win the assassins on his own. But that was what she couldn't hope for. She had made sure to drop the Aetherleaf in his study. There was no way he would defeat those assassins after inhaling that. She sighed regretfully. She regretted it. She really did.She didn't want anything happening to Damian. She wished she didn't have to make difficult choices like this one. Damian was her end point. But then again she had to do what she had to do. She'd decided to stay back in her room and waited as everything unfolded. But when she heard Nelly barking orders at the guards and at the maids and everyone she saw, she knew it was better to be out. It would be suspicious if she remained in her room wh

AMAYA'S POV I returned to the park and sat on a bench. Outside was calm. Everyone looked so happy and it was like I was the only one feeling this enormous turmoil. Beside me was a family and on my other side were two lovers. They giggled and I couldn't help but notice how they stare affectionately at each other. They saw only themselves. They probably didn't even notice I was beside them. “Mummy! Daddy!” the little kid called out to her parents. She looked so happy as she ran into her father's waiting arm. At that moment, it faintly occured to me the kind of trust children had for their parents. The trust that he would never drop her, that his arms are strong enough to catch her and hold her no matter what. It reminded me of my parents too and it made my heart ache. Everyday I prayed to not wake up one morning and discover that I had forgotten their faces. I clung onto those memories of them I had because they were all I had. I briefly shut my eyes to bask in them. To remind mys

Damian tried to launch an attack but then he stopped. His eyes widened. His body was not feeling the same. Something was wrong. Something was wrong. Was it because of Amaya? His fist curled. The whole set up suggested Lucius must have found out about Amaya's strength and seeing she was away from him decided to strike. He tried not to panic but it was as though the weakness of his body doubled with creating in him the one attribute he detested so much—fear. “Run Damian. Run out of the room and alert the guards.” The warning echoed in his head. But he inwardly shook his head, remembering vividly those words, those words that he had lived by all his life. “I am Alpha Damian. I do not run in the face of adversities. I am the leader and protector of Craven. The day I run from danger is the day I become useless.”No matter how weak his body had become he would not run away.“Did Lucius send you?” He clenched. “Answer me! Did that loser send you!”The men began to circle him like wolves,

Lucius sprung from his seat as if suddenly overcome by something and charged outside. Tommy and Jaxon were at the door and just about to get in when he dashed outside. “Call them back!” he yelled. Tommy and Jaxon stared at him, puzzled. “I said call the men back! They are not to kill Damian!” he repeated authoritatively. “What?” Tommy was stiffened as he leaned back stunned. “We can't pull off now,” he said, eyes narrowing. “I didn't say we, I said pull off,” Lucius gritted, emphasizing on the ‘I’. “Call them back. They must return to Westwood immediately.”“You can't pull off the operation now!” Tommy slammed. “Are you challenging me?” Lucius questioned, taken aback. Their gaze held…long, icy, air thickened with unspoken tension. Lucius' jaw was set and firm as fury brewed within him. He could not believe Tommy was talking back to him. His own beta! After a moment, Tommy stepped back and gave a strained chuckle. ”I would never do that, my Alpha. I'm just saying this is the bad

“Speak, what is it?” Lucius demanded, trying to contain his annoyance. Like what was so urgent Jaxon had to make him leave Amaya at that moment. What better time would he get to be in such proximity and calmness with her again? “It better be something important,” he added, his face wrinkling. “The elders are meeting behind your back,” Jaxon revealed. “What?” Lucius leaned back, forehead burrowing deep. Anxiety etched deep into his face, the irritation on it replaced with a mixture of worry and disappointment. He'd always known they were a bunch of greedy elders but he didn't think they would start this early to show their hidden claws. Things were beginning to look good for him. He stifled a groan. “When did this start? Are you just knowing about it now?” He asked Jaxon. “I'm sorry but we have been so focused with Balus and your mate–”“Who started it? Chief elder? What is their reason for betraying me? Why can't they trust in me?”“Their reason remains that you have yet to fulfil

AMAYA'S POV Blown off by Lucius' sudden request, my mouth hung open. But then we heard a shrill cry before I could speak. Someone had collapsed. Grateful for the interruption, I darted over to the place the sound came from. It was later realized that it was a prank by some of the arena keepers. Some of the people that were around complained about the silly prank before returning to what they were doing. “Do you care for anything?” Lucius asked as we went back to our position. “Uhm–”“Wait here. I will get us something,” he said hastily and hurried away before I could refuse. “Amaya,” I heard someone call my name less than a minute after Lucius left. I turned and there was an elderly woman beside me. Surprised, I scanned around to check if she had company. I hadn't heard her join us. “I am alone,” she replied like she had read the question in my mind. “How did you know my name?” I asked, still trying to grasp the whole thing. She smiled. “I would be damned not to recognize gr

Damian looked at the wine cabinet yet again. They were begging for his touch, begging him to have a taste. He exhaled wistfully, forcing his gaze away from the direction. He must stay sober. If not for anything, to think on how to handle the matter at hand. This last month had changed him. He didn't know what it was or how it had happened but deep within him he knew it was something about Amaya. He could not let her go as she wanted, yet he couldn't keep her. But what baffled him was how she knew about what the Seer had told him. He was actually planning to tell her the truth. He was on his way to tell her everything. How had she found out before he told her? He sighed for the zillionth time, massaging his throbbing temple. He hadn't had a restful time ever since she left the house. “You should go find her,” Raze suggested, breaking into his thoughts. Damian sat up, suppressing a grunt. He would have gone after her as she was leaving if it was that easy. He saw the hurt in her e

All I wanted was to just leave. Everything felt so exhausting and I knew I would probably choke to death if I stayed there for another second. I thought he cared about me now. I was foolish. How could I have believed someone like him. How could I have trusted a power hungry Alpha like him. He would never change. I should have known. The thought that I went the extra mile and pleaded with him to seek out the Seer on my behalf pained me the most. All the while he knew how to help me but kept it away from me. I should have known when he bought me…I should have known when he was willing to let go of hundreds of warriors and servants just to buy me. The significant mood lift in Amaya's behavior was quite noticeable to everyone. So obvious it baffled both Nelly and Lyra who were among the ones that looked at her like she was covered with poop after the news spread. After they had breakfast and since they had nothing to do for the rest of the day, Amaya decided to retire to her room. “What’s going on? You finally don't care about people knowing you don't have your wolf. Strong girl,” Nelo teased with a small nudge. Amaya laughed heartily. “No it's not that… it's just…Alpha Damian will help me,” she said, grinning, their conversation at the stream replaying in her head. Although he hadn't given her an outright answer because Raze interrupted. But he listened to her and that itself showed he cared. “Hmmm,” Nelo murmured. “Why? You still don't trust him? He is not as bad as you think…well, he may be difficult some times but look beyond the scowl on his face and you'd see the real Damian.”Nelo gave a shrug. “Still, he murdered hi
