5: Going Too Far

FELIX

It was dinner time and there was no one at the table which was weird because usually, my mother would have been here nagging the maids about what they did wrong.

Kelly was the only one atbthe table and I couldn't start eating without my mother.

“What’s going on?” Kelly asked as I stood up.

“Give me a minute.”

I went upstairs to look for her. I was sure that she had fallen asleep reading a book or something.

“What are you saying? Return everything to you? Do you really think you did this family a favor?”

Who was Fiona speaking to in Roshida's room?

The door was slightly open so I just stood there and listened in.

“I’m very sure you weren't deaf when I said it. Everything that I've given to you and your mother will be returned to me. It is mine, after all.”

What was Roshida saying?

I opened the door and walked in.

“What’s going on?”

My mother clutched my arm.

“Son, you should hear what your wife is saying. She's saying that she wants to leave you and that she wants everything to be returned to her. Talk some sense into her. Tell her it's not possible.”

I looked at her, waiting for her to say that it was a lie. But she didn't.

“Is she telling the truth? You want to leave me?”

She didn't seem fazed or bothered by what was going on. Infact, she had assumed a defensive stance and was looking me in the eye.

“Why is this surprising? Did you really expect me to sit back and watch you marry her and be happy for you? Oh please, I'm wolfless, I'm not a fool.”

That was the first time she had ever said it.

I still couldn't understand what was going on. Did someone provoke her into saying these things?

Probably my mother.

“Ro, you're angry. You're saying things you'll regret. why don't you just calm down-”

She burst out laughing. A deep laughter that squeezed my heart.

“Ro? You don't deserve to call me that. Regret? Oh no, I think you should take more of everything I'm saying right now. I'm done. Done with you, done with this family, done with this sham of a marriage. You are free to marry her as you wish, I don't care. But I'm not going to sit back and do nothing.”

I wanted to remind her of the risks of what she was saying. If she wanted to divorce me, it was not as easy as she thought it was.

“You know that you don't have a wolf. You're putting yourself at risk if you do this. You don't have a family and you need one to protect you and one to fall back on. You're going to be a Rogue and have no family if you do this. You'll be nobody!”

Divorce me? She was going too far.

“Felix, I don't think you understand what's going on. I don't care about the risks. I'm ready to do anything just to get away from you. I think that's fair.”

Who was this woman and what had they done with my wife?

I wanted to turn to Fiona and my mother and ask what they had said to her but now wasn't the time. I knew they had an issue with her and they most definitely had a hand in whatever was going on here.

But I needed to deal with Ro first.

She wasn't like this before. Back when I'd first met her, she was…perfect.

Obedient, beautiful, quiet and made for me.

The first time I'd seen her, I thought she was the most beautiful woman I'd ever seen. I was attracted to her and I knew that she was a perfect fit.

I felt lucky to be the one to marry her and didn't even care that she didn't have a mate because I felt marriage was beyond all that. Besides, I'll be there to protect her so she doesn't exactly need it.

If I'd known that I would meet my mate this quickly, I wouldn't have bothered to accept the proposal. I didn't mean to be in this sticky situation but the moment I laid eyes on Kelly, I knew that she was the one.

I couldn't stop my wolf from going for her no matter how much I tried and it was only a matter of time before she knew about it too.

I knew that she was my mate and it would be evil of me to deny myself that right.

So I did what was right by her and by me.

But I didn't forget that I had a wife back home. I built a relationship with her first before breaking the news to her.

“I have a wife back home. I married her a while ago and I didn't know that I would find you this early. It was her mother's wish but you're my mate and I can't let you go either. “

It was a risk, saying something like that but then, i needed to tell her the news before I brought her back home with me.

“It’s understandable. It's not like you didn't purposely. I can live with another Luna, I don't have an issue with it.”

I was greatly touched by her openness and her willingness and I felt that I wouldn't have an issue, knowing the person that Ro was.

When I returned home and saw the look on her face, it made me sick in the gut.

She looked like she had been punched in the gut and I almost couldn't take it.

Now she was saying she wanted to leave me?

“You should think of what you're saying, Ro. You can't take it back once it goes out.”

She rolled her eyes.

“I don't remember caring. It's a done decision, Felix. Get used to it.”

She had really put her foot down on this one. It bothered me, the change in attitude. What was going on?

My mum chimed in.

“If it's because you don't want to lay for the wedding, its not going to cost a lot. We can cut down costs and deal with what we have.”

From the look on her face, I knew that her heart was sealed. There was nothing we could say that would change her heart.
