ROSHIDA
“Won’t he get mad when he finds out?” I looked at her, confused at what she was talking about. “Who is that you speak of? Last I checked, I didn't owe anyone my whereabouts. So who cares if he finds out?” I wanted to leave the pack back to mine today. It has been a while since I'd been away from my family and I wanted to go see them again. At least to let them know I was doing fine. “I don't think you want to wear that.” She looked down at her dress. “What? I like this dress. Why don't you want me to wear it?” “It’s not me. We have places to be today. Just trust me. Wear something else.” Today was going to determine a lot. That was why I needed to go see my parents first. I needed their good luck to go with me. “You know, I'm proud of you. For standing up to them. I didn't think you'd be able to do it. What exactly did you say that got them so mad like that? ” That's right. I hadn't told Sophia that I'd decided to divorce. It was something that just slipped out in the heat of the moment and I'd gone a long with it. At this point, it seemed like the best option. Divorce him and let Kelly have him. I wasnt losing him because he wasn't a real man. That's why I had to take charge of my own life sknce he had done so with his. As I came down the stairs, I met Grace and Fiona in the living room. Not paying any attention to them, I walked past them. “Where are you going dressed like that? You think you can just stand up and leave this house when you please?” I turned around to look at them. “Who am I supposed to ask permission from? You? That's so stupid. Let's go, Sophia.” I'd like to see them try to stop me from leaving the house. “Wow, you really told her. I really thought you were going to trade words with her.” I didn't have time to banter words with any of them. The journey was far enough. We made it back to our pack. My heart broke when I saw what had become our once great kingdom. It was now a shadow of itself. The buildings were beginning to look run down and it was only a matter of time before people began to slowly forget that there was once a pack like this. This was not what my father planned for himself. But I was going to fix it. Their graves were in the mansion. Behind the mansion actually. My father had built a place for him and my mother to be laid to rest side by side. He said he wanted to be with her even in their deaths. My brothers had been buried there too. The door had been sealed shut since no one was going to be around to look after them. It also helped avoid people coming to loot their graves in search of gold and jewels. The last time I was here, I cried and cried until Sophia had to carry me away. That was a day after my mother's burial before I was whisked away to that dungeon. “Hey mum. Hey dad. It's been a while. I'm so sorry I haven't been able to come back to say hello. There's just been so much going on. Mum, I don't want you to blame yourself for anything that's happening now. You were just trying to help out like all mothers do and I appreciate that.” If either of us had known that Felix was a gold digger, we would not have gone ahead with it. “But today, I'm taking a bold step to rid myself of that leech forever. I need your guidance. I'll make sure that he doesn't get a dime from anything. You can trust that. I miss you guys so much, each and everyone of you.” I just stayed there and stared at their graves like it would make them come back to life. I wish I could have my family back. Anything to have my family back. They were worth so much more. Sophia placed her hand on my shoulder. “We have to leave now, Roshida. You said we have somewhere else to be.” That's right. If we didn't need it now, I would have to go back tomorrow to see him. I heard that it was a hassle just to finally get him to see you because of the amount of people who needed his attention. I just hoped that there won't be a lot of people there today. “Where are we going? Would you tell me now?” “We’re going to see the Lycan King.” If I stayed in that house and did nothing, then I won't be winning any time soon. If they were making moves, it was only normal for me to make moves as well. Surely, they didn't expect that I would sit back and watch while they tried to humiliate me. “What did you say? Why didn't you tell me earlier?! I can't go to the Capital looking like this!” I looked at her. “You look just fine. I did tell you to change your dress though. You're fine, I'll be in and out before you know it.” I could still hear mumbling behind me about how she hated me. We made our way to the Capitol and went to the waiting area. The hall was filled with people and I cursed under my breath. “You have got to be kidding me. This is exactly what I was avoiding.” The fact that more people were coming in after us didn't make things any better. There was so much noise in the hall and I knew we were going to be here for a very long time. I just looked around completely confused about what to do until I felt someone tap my shoulder. It was a man and there was a mask over the bottom half of his face. “You can go write your name over there.” He pointed behind him and truly, I saw people standing in a queue to write their names. That line was equally long and when it eventually got to our turn, I saw that we were the three thousandth people to be here. Before I could turn around to look at him, he had disappeared. As we walked over and fought to make our way to write out names, we were the three thousandth people to be her. “Do you see the numbers? We'll be here for the whole day.” Now, I'm thinking I should have come here before going to our pack. Maybe we would have been done by this time. Sophia and I found a place to just stand and watch as we didn't want to be caught up in the field of humans. I didn't know how we would know when it was our turn but somehow, we would figure it out. We had been standing for so long that my legs were beginning to hurt. As if that was not enough, the guards came and told us that we had to go outside because we were making a hell of a noise. I wasn't even talking but oh well… Now we weren't only standing, we were standing in the sun. The fact that we hadn't eaten all day didn't make the journey any better. “Can we come back tomorrow? We don't even know if we'll get to see him today. There are still so many people before us.” She had a point. If it was just me, I didn't mind staying all day until they called for me. But I had to consider her. I looked at the watch on my hand. “Let’s stay till it's three. Then we'll leave. Just a few more minutes.” I was very tired too and I wanted to go home but when I thought about the house I was returning to, it didn't seem very appealing either. Just then, We heard a guard's voice. “Roshida Clark of Ràven Claw Pack!” I turned to Sophia. “Will you do fine without me or you want to come with me?” She gave me a look. “Are you crazy? No thank you. I'm not appearing in front of the Lycan King with a gun to my head. Have fun. Hurry up.” I laughed at her cowardice and made my way through the rough crowd and met up with the guard who was waiting for me upfront. He led me back into the palace and up two flights of stairs. “The King will see you now.” My heart was beating as I walked behind him. Was I wanted to do this or would this just make things worse? The large wooden doors fell back and I took a deep breath, taking long strides towards the throne. His throne was huge and his eyes were set on me as I closed the distance between us. The queen was to his side and the both of them stared at me like I had done something wrong. I bowed. “Your majesty, it's an honor to be here. Thank you for seeing me.” “You say you are Alpha Clark's daughter from Raven Claw?” I nodded but remembered who I was speaking to. “Yes, my King. My father is the Late Alpha. I'm Roshida Clark.” I stayed with my head down for a moment before I heard his voice. “You may rise. You're such a grown young lady now. I knew your father. He was my very good friend. A very good man himself. Very loyal.” My dad knew the Lycan King? He turned to the Queen. “Her father and I used to work together before I became King. At the time, I even proposed a marriage for her and our son but things didn't work out.” A marriage?! So I would have been betrothed to the future King? I had no idea that they were that close. ”I had no idea, My King. My father never told me about anything.” “Of course, after a while, war broke out and we lost contact. And then, I became King. I met you when you were just a little girl. So full of life. I'm very sorry for the loss of your family. You were all so nice.” All I could do was nod. He was speaking very freely. I had expected to come here and be very formal but now, he was speaking like an uncle. A guard walked past me and handed the King a piece of paper. “I see here you're asking for a divorce from your husband on account of bringing another woman into your home. You married Felix? I had no idea he was married. And to you of all people. How did that happen?” I explained to him what happened before my mother died and also explained to him why I want a divorce. He looked back at the paper. “I see. Normally, the time given for a divorce is after one year of marriage. It says here you've barely been married for five months. Three months infact. That's too soon. But I can help you in another way. I can make sure that he and the other woman never get married. He will listen to an order.” I didn't care if they got married. That was not my business. I just wanted to be free from him. Him not marrying her would just make him disturb my life even more. I didn't want that. “My King, if I may. I do not wish to be married to him any longer. If he wishes to marry her, then I am fine with it. I just wanted to be rid of him and live my life. That's all.” Whether or not he doesn't marry Kelly, it doesn't make him a better person.ROSHIDA The King was silent. “Do you realise what you are asking, young lady? You want to leave your husband? A highly decorated Alpha? Firstly, do you realise the implications that carry?” Screw the implications. “My King, I've thought about it and I'm ready to bear it all. Nothing is too much to bear as long as I get to leave that house. I've suffered more than enough and I deserve better. I'm ready to face it all”. I just needed him to be convinced. If I can plead my case to him and he accepts it, then I'm fine. “Roshida, that's your name right? The reason your father sent you to military school, if I remember clearly, was because you were born without a wolf. He didn't want you to be trampled upon. I don't want that either for you.” I was wolfless but I wasnt useless. I felt more at ease, like I was talking to my father or uncle. “Your majesty, I understand your concerns and I appreciate them but then, the skills I have acquired won't be entirely useless. I can take care o
ROSHIDA I walked out of the throne room and went back to Sophia. I didn't even know what to tell her because I was sure that she would be so disappointed just like I was. How was I going to get Felix to agree? Even with a gun to his head, he wouldn't want to divorce me because he wants me to lay for the wedding. “Wait!” I turned around and the man who had turned out to be the prince walked up to me. I curtsied as he approached me. “Rise. Is your husband willing to let you go?” I shook my head. “He wants my money so he can pay for his wedding with her. He doesn't care about me.” He nodded. His eyes were intense and I had to look away from them for a moment. “Do you want me to help you?” I looked back at him immediately and my eyes widened. “No, you don't have to do that. I'll figure out a way to get him to say yes.” “Is he going to say yes?” I couldn't answer that. “So you need my help..don't worry, go home. You'll have your approval by tomorrow.” Before I could say any
ROSHIDAFelix stayed staring at me for a few seconds. His breathing had calmed down now that he had heard what he wanted.“Did you hear me? I don't care about you and her. You can marry her and the entire world if you want to. Don't come into my room and spew rubbish again. I won't like it. Do as the peince has said. Give me the letter of approval so I can leave.”He really thought I'd leave my house and go all the way to the Capital, stand under the sun for over an hour just to see the King and tell him that I wanted to stop his wedding to Kelly?A wedding that they wanted me to fund?.He pushed himself off the wall and pointed his finger at me.“ You're now sleeping with the prince, aren't you? Is that what this Don’t do anything stupid like this again. Just lay low until the wedding is over.”“Take that finger out of my face before I break it and shove it up your ass. Go on, go write the letter bedore rhenleonce comes back and gives you a reason to cry. I heard he has a temper. ”
ROSHIDAShe looked furious. Her nostrils were flaring and she was giving Felix the dirtiest look ever.I expected her to slap him for saying a thing like that. That statement wasn't just disrespectful to me, but to her as well. That's if she was smart enough to realize it. It meant that he didn't care if she was there and about to marry her but he was ready to put a baby inside me so that I won't leave. The thought of being a co wife pisses me off so much. If he has even been a good husband, I might consider it. If he knew how to take responsibility and how to be an actual Alpha and not a phony, then maybe I would have stayed. But he was far from everything.“What does it matter? You don't seem to want to let him go so he's offering you a solution.”Her response angered me. What had he done to her?“Have you lost it? How can you say a thing like that? So you do not realize how insulting it is? Especially to my person. Am I so useless that you think I can agree to carry a baby just for
ROSHIDA I didn't hear when she said it. “You should be grateful that you are still in this house. The Luna would have kicked you out back where you came from. You're nothing to me. You're despicable and you're disgusting.” He didn't even give Kelly the chance to say something for herself or retaliate. He slapped Sophia, hard across the face that Sophia fell to the floor. I was stunned for a moment. I couldn't process what had just happened. “How dare you speak to her that way? Don't you know she's my wife to be? She's the next Luna of this pack and you are nothing but a dirty slave. Apologise to her now.” I saw the tears in Sophia's eyes and that was all it took. Along with the anger I had pent up, I slapped him back. Just as hard. This time around, he wasn't the only one dazed. Both he and Kelly took steps back in awe as I helped Sophia off the floor. It was bad enough that he was treating me like this but I won't let him lay a finger on Sophia. “Next time, don't
ROSHIDAKelly spoke up before he had the chance to come out of his daydream.“What did you just say? You want him to beg you? He would rather die. Why does he have to beg you for money? Both of you are married, that money belongs to him too.”I had caught her.“So do you finally admit that we are married?”She turned pale, not being able to say anything else.“Well, what I was saying was-”“Shut up, Kelly.”Grace joined in.“Yes, shut up Kelly. Roshida, you have to understand that he has his pride to protect as an Alpha. I mean, I'm begging you already. Isn't that enough? Both of you are married, no one can deny that. So just help your husband out.”This woman was so two-faced.She was the same one raining curses on me every other day but today when she wanted to beg for my money, her voice was calm.Fiona didn't say anything and she just stayed back and watched all that happened.Felix finally spoke up.“You want me to beg you? For money? I can't do that. I'm an Alpha. Do you realize
ROSHIDASince they couldn't do anything to me, they decided to go for the one thing that they could touch. My reputation.I was in the room when Sophia ran in.“You won't believe what is going around the village about you.”Actually, I didn't care but she seemed very determined to tell me so I dropped my book and listened to her.“I heard from one of the maids in the kitchen that Fiona asked them to tell people around the village that you're wolfless. And that it was because of your character that you have this curse. She said you're cursed and that's why Felix is marrying another woman.”Well, they had really sat down to think about that story. I mean, they did have to find something convincing to tell the people if he wanted to divorce their Luna and marry someone else.“That seems like a very nice story. And I take it that the people are responding positively.”“Yes, they're believing it. We have to do something.”Sophia liked to panic.“We don't have to do anything except sit back
FELIXI was on the verge of losing it. I wanted to run away and never come back.As soon as I woke up, I was met with Kelly's attitude. She refused to speak to me as she was still mad that I didn't do anything when Roshida slapped me.She was the Luna. I couldnt touch her but she didn't listen. As if that was not enough, I had my mother's attitude to deal with. She whined and complained all day that Roshida has refused to come to her to take care of her. She'd call me and complain until I couldn't take it anymore.“Just stop it, mother. Please, just stop it! Do you think it's easy for me too? I have so much on my plate and you're not making it any better.”“Felix, you’re raising your voice at me?”“I'm not. What do you need her for, though? You're not sick, you can walk on your own so why do you want her to come to your room and serve you?”Her eyes danced as I waited for an answer.“I'm getting old, I need people to help me.”That was a lie and she knew it.“If you need attention, ge
ROSHIDAI kept looking at my phone to check if he had called me back.I mean, even if he were busy, he should have known that we didn't have a proper conversation and called me back to check what I really wanted. But then again, he didn't owe me anything. After all, Clarissa already said that he was busy. When I learnt that the port where he had work was in Alpha Lucas' pack, I sighed loudly. I didn't want a reason to be here after what happened but then, I had to choose between that and waiting for the Prince to come back when I didn't know when he would come back.So the best thing was just to go to him. I'll tell him how I feel and I'll just leave so I don't embarrass myself. Yes, that's what you're going to do.“Stop thinking and focus on the road.”Clarissa's voice snapped me out of my thoughts. I'd forgotten that she had called me earlier and asked about what happened and I told her.“Took you long enough.”That was her response. How could I be the only one to not know that I l
VALFREDReggie and I shared a look. The conversation that had just happened in the last thirty minutes was one I never thought would happen. The car was completely silent and this was the most awkward situation I had ever been in.“So basically, you're telling me that if I dont marry your daughter, you will launch an attack against the Lycan Kingdom?”Alpha Lucas smiled and nodded.“That’s about right. I mean, what's there not to attack? Your father's family has hoarded the monarchy for centuries while my family had to sit on the sidelines and watch. We were not made to be Alphas! We were made to be Kings!”Alpha Lucas' pack was not one of the small ones. As a matter of fact, since he owned the port, it was a huge advantage to him because he was in charge of all the trade that was coming in.But he knew and I knew that that alone wouldn't be able for him to overthrow my father. He had allies, he had help. My main aim was to know who his help was.“You’re not that brave. Tell me, who h
ROSHIDAI sat with my phone in my hand.I didn't know if I should make this call or not. Sophia's words still resonated in my head even after hours had happened and I felt so bad.Now that she had said it, everything that he had done began to make sense. Gosh, how could I be so blind to this?I didn't even know that my thumb has mistakenly made the call that I been thinking about making.“Hello?”I pressed the phone to my ear.“Gosh, I'm so sorry, I had no idea that I made the call already. How're you, Clarissa?”She sighed.“I’m doing okay. How're you?”I didn't know if I should answer that question.“Clarissa, I wanted to ask you something. The day of the Queen's party, when Valfred was talking, your father said that he revoked the Crown because of what happened. What exactly did Valfred say?”“Well, he didn't officially revoke it. He just said it in anger and my father didn't honor it because he knew that Valfred wasn't serious about it. He said that if he can't have you, he'd rath
ROSHIDAThe room was silent. It had been silent since I got back from the coast. I didn't know what was wrong and dhene Sophia had asked me earlier, I didn't know what to say.I'd been doing a lot of thinking, thinking that would allow me to put things in order so that the thoughts going through my head would make sense.“You know, if I didn't know you any better, I would have said that you were pregnant.”I snapped out of my thoughts and looked at her, confused as to where that thought was coming from.“What did you say? Why the hell would that be the first thing that comes to your mind?”She walked over to me, waving at Liam that was in my arms.“Because I believe that is the only thing that you will do that you won't be able to talk to me about. You've been a shadow of yourself for days and I've been asking you what is going on but you don't want to say anything. Have you done something I won't be proud of or what is the matter? You got back from the coast and you've been looking mo
VALFRED“If I feel any bite in my sleep, I assure you that you're going to die.”Reggie had been complaining about the hotel from the minute we stepped out of the car. He didn't like sleeping out and I knew that but it slipped my mind to tell him that it was going to take us at least three days to come back. “Reggie, the reviews say this is the best hotel in the area. I don't know what else to tell you. It does look nice, don't you think?” My optimism was not appreciated and the look he gave me let me know. He went to take a shower while I settled into the desk and began to look through the files. This was not the first time that I would be clearing out weapons but this was the first time I'd be offloading them from the ship. I usually only saw them when they brought them to the house for inspection. At some point, Alpha Lucas was going to hear of my presence even though I didn't want him to. I mean, seeing as our first meeting wasn't exactly one of pleasure,.it is expected that
VALFREDI came back home, just like everyone wanted me to.I wasn't happy about it because I knew that my mother and Clarissa would be in my business and I know that they were just trying to care for me..But I didn't need that right now. All I wanted was to be left alone.I don’t remember the last time I asked my father to give me work but that morning, I walked into my father's office, hoping that he would not be busy.“Good morning, father.”He and Mark looked up at me, obviously not realizing that I was walked in because of how busy they were.”Good morning, Father.”I'd forgotten he didn't know that I was back yet.”Valfred, you're back. Is there a problem?”.Mark stood up immediately.“Your majesty, I'll leave you and the Prince alone.”I didn't speak until I heard the door close behind me..“There is nothing wrong, father. I apologize for.the tone with which I spoke to you that day. I was angry, very angry. Please know that I mean no disrespect to you.”He stood up and walked o
VALFRED“What if I don't want to be a free man?” She turned around to look at me. She looked so exhausted. “What on earth are you talking about? Why wouldn't you want to be a free man to be able to make your own choices?”I don't know if she was doing this on purpose or she truly didn't know how I felt. “Roshida, if I have offended you in any way, I would like to apologize.”“Valfred, what are you talking about? How did you offend me? You haven't done anything wrong. I asked you why you don't want to be a free man.”For the first time in my life, words failed me. I didn't know the way to express what I felt for her. That was because I didn't even understand what I felt. It was enveloping every part of my senses. “Have you ever for one second, seen me as more than the Prince?”She didn't answer immediately. “Where is that question coming from?” “Your answer would let me know how to answer your question.”The fact that she hadn't taken her hand away was hope that she was still he
ROSHIDA“Come in. I hope dad didn't send you.”As we entered the house, I saw Reggie sitting on the couch and he waved to me.The place was actually very beautiful.“Dad didn't send me. I came because someone wanted to talk to you.”Valfred hadn't even turned around for once to see that I was standing in the room.“Who was the person who wanted to speak to me? If it's mum, I'll call her later. You didn't have to come all the way out here. It's too far. And you didn't even tell me you were coming.”What the hell was he doing that he hadn't even turned around for once.Clarissa dropped her bag on the couch.“I’m not the one who wants to speak to you. It's Roshida.”I was expecting him to turn around and then look but he didn't. He did pause though.“What did she say? She's still mad at me. She hasn't responded to my texts. When you went to see her today, did she look like she had been crying?”Clarissa looked at me and I shook my head. If he knew, it would just make him more angry.“No
ROSHIDA“You didn't do anything wrong. I just want to know one thing. What's going on between you and my brother? I mean, what are the both of you doing?”Wy would she think there was something going on? I didn't know. Had Valfred told her anything?I mean, they were siblings. He probably told her about the kisses. All of them.“Why would you ask that? Do you think something is going on or did he tell you something?”I could see her hesitation to answer that question. Looking at her properly, Clarissa is actually very beautiful. She Carrie elegance around with her like a shadow and even the way she talked or gestured, you could just feel she was royalty.“Its not about what he told me. it's about what you feel you are to each other. I'm not blind, Roshida. I can see the way you look at him, the stolen glances, the long stares, the smiles…you can't tell me that there's nothing going on.”Well, I guess I could say that she was smart enough to notice all that. I turned her around to face
