CLAIRE FISCHER

MY LEGS TREMBLED with fear as we marched along the small dirt path. The night was dark and the woods were even darker, but these strange people seemed to be one with the surroundings, like they had lived here all their lives. And maybe they had.

Had I stumbled into the midst of a secret pack? I asked myself. I closed my eyes, trying to remember my geography classes, and wishing I had paid more attention as I tried to figure out where I was. There was not supposed to be a pack nearby… my foot caught on a shrub and I stumbled forward, unable to catch myself as I fell into the dirt.

“Get up!” the man holding the end of my rope snarled. The group stopped moving as they looked back. “Get up!” the man tugged on the rope again. I tried to stand up, but I was weak. I had not eaten anything in almost two days. They parted as the man I took to be their leader approached me. His eyes glinted bright red in the darkness as he looked down at me.

“What is going on?” he asked. His

You want her, and you do not want to share.”Joram's face twisted in disgust. “Gross.” He rubbed his eyes. “I do not want to fuck your prisoner. She is yours to do as you wish.”There was a vague smile on Alex's face as he turned away. “W

ALEXANDER VON SINCLAIRALEX WAS BOILING as he stormed out of the Senate hall and walked down the street. The pack – no, the clan, was deathly silent. There was even no buzzing of night bugs or insects. As Alek went towards the pack mansion, he cooled down a bit, and he became a bit more logical. He knew he was overreacting, but his ego would not let him admit it to himself. He knew he did not have much right coming here like a bull in a china shop, smashing anything in his path as he took over the clan that he had left unattended to in over half a century.“I am beginning to sound like my brother,” he muttered as he pushed the door open. “I have been spending too much time with him.” He saw Nonna coming down the stairs slowly. He walked up to her and tried to help her down.“What have you done, child?” She asked, looking at his bloodied hand. “Don’t worry about it, Nonna.” He said, trying to wipe the blood with a pocket napkin.“It is Marshall, is it not?” she asked. “I knew that one’

CLAIRE FISCHERI DID NOT know who this Lucia was, but I was grateful for her arrival. She had just saved me from the unspeakable things Alec was going to do to me. My captor Alec slowly released me. I immediately picked up my clothes and pressed them to my body.Alek turned and looked at his brother. “How did she know we were back?” He asked in a hushed whisper.Joram shrugged. His eyes swept across the room and settled on me. I immediately lowered my gaze. Even though Joram looked a tad calmer and less intimidating than his brother, I knew that looks could be deceiving, and the last thing I wanted to do was to attract his attention.“We should talk,” Joram said in a strong voice to his brother, who walked away and grabbed a shirt from the bed, shrugging it on.“I don’t have anything to say to you,” Alex replied. He started to walk out, then he stopped, looked at me, and said, “We are not done.” A chill shiver ran down my spine.Joram looked at me for a few seconds, then he sighed and

He heard his brother following him closely.“Where is she?” he asked.“the grand foyer,” Joram said in a bland voice.Joram knew his brother had something to say, but he was keeping it in. When they were getting to the stairs, the silence became too heavy and profound for Alek, so he said, “Say it.” He stopped and turned, “That thing in your mind. Say it.”“What you are about to do to that girl -” Joram said.Alek scoffed and started to walk away, but Joram held his arm. “What you were about to do to that girl…” he repeated.“She is my prisoner,” Alek snarled. “And I will do whatever I want with her.” He tried to snatch his arm away, but he couldn’t.“What you should do… is to interrogate her so we know where she comes from,” Joram snapped. “Not… rip her clothes and try to force your way… Th

CLAIRE FISCHERI WOKE UP with a startle. I was lost for a few seconds, not sure of where I was until the whole event of last night came to me – Alex, the abduction… and what almost followed. I sat up slowly, stretching out my stiff back; I had slept in an awkward position on the floor. I looked around the room. I was alone, so that meant he had not come back last night. He and Lucia had spent the night together, satisfying each other’s desires.Better her than me, I said to myself, gathering myself from the floor.I went to the adjoining room where the old woman had washed me yesterday. I had not had the liberty to appreciate the elegance of the room and bathroom. I ran my hand across the smooth tiles and the smooth, wide basin. I turned on the tap, and warm water flowed out silently. I stepped under the shower, enjoying the feeling of warm water washing down my skin. When was the last time I had had a proper shower? Not that brash washing that the women had given me yesterday.I don’

CLAIRE FISCHERTHE WHOLE MEETING I was stunned at Aleks's arrival. I was even more shocked when Aleks sat down and said, "Speak on, Clam." He leaned back, folded his arms, and kept his eyes fixed on me. "I want to hear more."I swallowed again, not knowing where to start."You were asking her something," Alex said to Jamie as if he sensed I was lost."Ah, yes," Jamie nodded. He cleared his throat and turned to me. "What is your surname, and what pack did you come from?"I looked around, uncertainly. I did not want to tell them the pack I came from. They could be an enemy, that would worsen my fate, and I could not tell me my surname because they could figure everything out and connect the dots. I shook my head and said, "I do not remember." I looked at Jamie. "There was an accident. I hit my head...""So you lost your memory?" He raised his eyebrows. He clearly did not believe me."I lost my memory," I nodded.Jamie scoffed. "You said there was an accident and you hit your head," he s

ALEKSANDER VON SINCLAIR HE HAD PATRONIZED them long enough. And his patience had been drawing thinner since he joined the meeting. He had had a very uneventful night even though he had spent it with Lucia. His member had simply fallen and refused to rise again. His mind was with the prisoner in his chambers, not the cougar Lucia, who was with him in a guest room. He had played it off and pushed her aside, telling her that he was no longer in the mood. She pouted all night and even attempted to stroke him hard during the night so she could ride him while he slept, but to no avail. He pretended to be asleep as she tossed and turned on the bed beside him in frustration. A side of him felt bad for her; after all, it was not her fault. But another side of him did not even want her to be here. He finally slept for a few hours, but he was awake again very early. She was gone. He heaved a sigh of relief and got out of bed. He went to his chambers, eager to touch the prisoner girl again, bu

CLAIRE FISCHERI WAS TOO stunned to move for the next few minutes after Alex stormed out of the hall. I turned and looked at Joram. He was also as stunned as I was.The men of the senate were pale-faced, sitting on their seats without any words too. The hall was deathly silent."You heard my brother," Joram finally said. He turned to a guard neaby. "Take her back to the mansion."A guard stepped into the hall and walked up to me. He took me by the arm and led me out. I looked at Jamie as I walked out. The anger that was absent in his face was very present in the depth of his eyes. I could tell that he was going to make my life living in this pack very hard.As we went through the street of the pack, I could tell that things were off. This was a community of werewolves, but it did not feel like a pack. There was hardly any bond. Maybe because there was no alpha, as I could not call Alek an alpha, he was more of a dictator and controller.I saw some little children playing in the grass,

CLAIRE VON SINCLAIRLOGAN KNOCKED ON the door of a small apartment and pushed the door open."It doesn't sound like she's in," he said as we entered. The house was small, dark and had a pungent smell in the air."Why is the place like this?" I asked."I could not have her remain in the pack house," Logan answered. "She was... unbearable." I nodded. I understood him too well. I lived all my life with the woman so I knew how controlling she could be. "I will send someone here to clean and air the place out.""Thank you," I said under my breath. I frowned and opened the curtain closest to me, letting the rays come in. "Where is she?" I asked myself."Claire, here," Logan called out to me.I hurried to meet him in another room. My mother was on the bed, sleeping. Why was she still sleeping by this time?Logan cleared his voice loudly and she woke up groggily. Her eyes were red and inflamed like she had been crying."Ruth, are you alright?" Logan asked. Even he was concerned about her."I

Her voice dripped with angry sarcasm."It is nice to see you too, sister," I muttered, walking past her."There is nothing for breakfast," she snarled. "Your arrival excited the cooks and suddenly, they are going on strike.""How is that my fault?" I asked. "You are not doing your duty as Luna.""I'm sure you would know that," she snapped. "You were trained to be the perfect Alpha, and I was just ignored.""That doesn't matter, Fiona," I said. "What matters now is that you are the Luan, and you are letting the pack down.""That is not my concern," she muttered. "The only thing that is my concern is that I am the Luna.""It would not be such a good position to be when the pack revolts against you" I grabbed her hand and pulled her closer. Staring into her eyes."You don't know what you are talking about," Fiona replied. "You are dumb here, okay?"I cocked my head and look

CLAIRE VON SINCLAIRI WOKE UP slowly and the first thing I did was to take a deep breath. The air was just like my father's pack and it took me back to my childhood. I opened my eyes and realized that I was actually back in my father's pack. I turned to my side, Alek was still sleeping soundly and snoring a little.I smiled wide and pressed a kiss on his cheek before I got out of bed. I put on a thicker robe and went outside."Good morning, Luna," Darius greeted. "Did you sleep well?"I nodded, knotting the belt around my waist. "I did." I sat down on the wooden porch, looking at the sky and watching the sunrise. "Were you on guard all night?" I asked. He hesitated for a second, then he said, "I was on patrol for the night, Luna."I cocked my head and looked at him, he avoided my gaze but I did not think much of it. I took in a deep breath again, holding it in and listening to the singing birds in the distance. "It feels so good to be back," I muttered."You don't hold any resentment

ALEKSANDER VON SINCLAIRHE WALKED OUT of the house silently and closed the door behind him, taking extra care not to make any noise."What is going on, Aleksander?"He turned and saw that it was Darius."Don't you sleep?" He muttered, adjusting his coat as he walked down the porch."I am on duty to stay awake tonight," Darius said, walking in step with Alek. "Where are you going? Where is the Luna?""Claire is sleeping," Alek said. "And I would like it if she doesn't wake before I am back. So I need to handle this quickly." He pinned a hard gaze on Darius, who remained unfazed. "Are you going to see someone you should not be?" Darius asked. "I saw the way the lady Fiona looked at you. Are you going to -"Alek snorted and pushed past Darius. "It is crazy for you to think I would betray Claire in such a way." He muttered."Then where are you going?" Darius asked."Come with me and see," Alek muttered. They walked in silence, each man deep in his thoughts."I never doubted your loyalty

ALEKSANDER VON SINCLAIR"SO CLAIRE, DO tell us," Ruth said. "Where did you give after you ran away from the pack?"Fiona snickered."She did not need to leave, you see," Ruth said, looking at Alek. "She just left for no reason.""I am glad she did," Alek said. "If she had remained here, I would never have met her." He took Claire's hand.Ruth's lips downturned as she saw the affection between Claire and Alek."I left for good reasons," Claire said. "You know, with everything that happened, it was too much for me to remain.""You mean, your fiance dumping you for your more prettier sister?" Ruth asked."Ruth..." Logan muttered. His eyes flashed from Alek to Claire apologetically.Claire waved it aside. "That was one of the things, yes." She nodded. "But I must say, I thank her for it. I got an upgrade. No offense, Logan."He nodded. "No offense taken.""So when I left the pack, Alek found me in the woods, lost," Claire said.Fiona frowned. "Alex?" She asked. "Your name is Alex? Alexand

ALEKSANDER VON SINCLAIR"FOR SOMEONE WHO has had many death threats from here, you look very relaxed," Alek said as he helped Claire with the necklace he had gifted to her a few weeks ago."I am relaxed because I know no harm can come to me as long as you are here," she said, leaning into his touch."And what if I'm not here," he asked, brushing his finger across her smooth skin. "Then Darius will be here," she replied.Alek coughed out a dry laugh and kissed the back of her neck before walking away to finish dressing up. "It is impolite to be late to an invited dinner." He said to her. "This pack has been anything but polite to us since we came," she replied. "They did not even have our sleeping quarters prepared, I think it is only fair that we return some of their energy." Alek snorted and gave a final look at his outfit in the mirror before extending a hand to Claire. "Let's go before the meals are cold."She took his hand and together, they walked out of the cabin, immediately

They removed the shattered glass and wrapped up the window."I guess no one will be sleeping in this room," I muttered as I looked at them."You can have our own cabin, Luna," the guard said.I shook my head. "Don't bother. This room was not needed anyway." I turned and went to the sitting room. "Have your luggage brought and set up in the wardrobe," I said to Darius. He nodded and bowed deeply before walking away to carry out what I just instructed him. "I would expect you to be resting now," Alek said, coming up to stand beside me.I chuckled. "As soon as we are all settled in and the guards have eaten, I will rest.""You might not have the chance," he replied. "Now is the best time to sleep for a few hours.""Not yet, Aleksander," I said. I pushed past him as Darius came in carrying some of our bags. He was followed by some other guards. "I will show you where to put all these."Alek groaned and sat down

"But I can not stand and watch the rogue that almost killed you go unpunished."I knew it the instant we saw Bastian that Alek would have something to say."You know that my mother is originally behind the attack," I replied. He nodded. His hands came around my waist and rested firmly on my belly. "I know your mother is," he said from behind. "But she is untouchable for now. You will deal with her later on. Not the rogue though, he is in no way connected to you. Except as a constant threat.""What are you going to do to him?" I asked, turning around and putting my hands over his shoulders."You don't need to know," he said to me. "But he will be duly punished. Is that okay?"I nodded. He leaned down and kissed me gently. LOGAN MILLERLOGAN'S HEART WAS pounding like he just run a marathon, and he was almost out of breath as he watched Claire sweep out of the room. Her presence in the room had been stifling and oppressive and as if that was not enough, her hulk of a husband stood behind her, blocking out the window like an unmovable mountain."What are you going to do?" Bruce asked as Claire walked out.Logan snapped out of his thoughts and looked at his Beta. "What do you mean?" He asked with a frown."I mean exactly what I'm saying," Bruce said. "Having Claire here is not a good thing. We both know that. She could start a riot amongst the pack members. And we know the last thing you want is a pack of rebelling members."Logan stood up and walked to the window. He watched as she seemed to be the shining sun amongst the Lycans. They all hovered around her as she walked down the street. "She's going to visit with her father." He said."Are you listening to what I'm saying?" Bruce asked impatiently."She
