HE WALKED OUT of the house silently and closed the door behind him, taking extra care not to make any noise.

"What is going on, Aleksander?"

He turned and saw that it was Darius.

"Don't you sleep?" He muttered, adjusting his coat as he walked down the porch.

"I am on duty to stay awake tonight," Darius said, walking in step with Alek. "Where are you going? Where is the Luna?"

"Claire is sleeping," Alek said. "And I would like it if she doesn't wake before I am back. So I need to handle this quickly." He pinned a hard gaze on Darius, who remained unfazed.

"Are you going to see someone you should not be?" Darius asked. "I saw the way the lady Fiona looked at you. Are you going to -"

Alek snorted and pushed past Darius. "It is crazy for you to think I would betray Claire in such a way." He muttered.

"Then where are you going?" Darius asked.

"Come with me and see," Alek muttered.

They walked in silence, each man deep in his thoughts.

CLAIRE VON SINCLAIRI WOKE UP slowly and the first thing I did was to take a deep breath. The air was just like my father's pack and it took me back to my childhood. I opened my eyes and realized that I was actually back in my father's pack. I turned to my side, Alek was still sleeping soundly and snoring a little.I smiled wide and pressed a kiss on his cheek before I got out of bed. I put on a thicker robe and went outside."Good morning, Luna," Darius greeted. "Did you sleep well?"I nodded, knotting the belt around my waist. "I did." I sat down on the wooden porch, looking at the sky and watching the sunrise. "Were you on guard all night?" I asked. He hesitated for a second, then he said, "I was on patrol for the night, Luna."I cocked my head and looked at him, he avoided my gaze but I did not think much of it. I took in a deep breath again, holding it in and listening to the singing birds in the distance. "It feels so good to be back," I muttered."You don't hold any resentment

Her voice dripped with angry sarcasm."It is nice to see you too, sister," I muttered, walking past her."There is nothing for breakfast," she snarled. "Your arrival excited the cooks and suddenly, they are going on strike.""How is that my fault?" I asked. "You are not doing your duty as Luna.""I'm sure you would know that," she snapped. "You were trained to be the perfect Alpha, and I was just ignored.""That doesn't matter, Fiona," I said. "What matters now is that you are the Luan, and you are letting the pack down.""That is not my concern," she muttered. "The only thing that is my concern is that I am the Luna.""It would not be such a good position to be when the pack revolts against you" I grabbed her hand and pulled her closer. The house was small, dark and had a pungent smell in the air."Why is the place like this?" I asked."I could not have her remain in the pack house," Logan answered. "She was... unbearable." I nodded. I understood him too well. I lived all my life with the woman so I knew how controlling she could be. "I will send someone here to clean and air the place out.""Thank you," I said under my breath. CLAIRE FISCHER“HE WAS SUCH a good man.”I scoffed inwardly as the smallish man draped in a black cape shuffled past me. Everyone becomes a friend at funerals, even people who had been vehemently against the person when he had been alive.I looked around and saw many of those types of people. Dressed immaculately in black suits and dressed with black sunshades to match. Some were even graceful enough to drop a tear or two for my father.I sighed and wrapped the black shawl tighter around my shoulders as I moved forward. I stood over the grave, taking care not to rustle the long root of dew vine that circles the dug-out hole. “Goodbye, Dad,” I muttered under my breath. I scooped up a bit of sand and tossed it in. I felt a fat, lonely tear run down my cheeks, but I smashed it away. He would now have wanted me to be sad and cry. My father, Alpha Bronn Fischer of the Moonshadow pack, was easily the best person in the pack and definitely the best person I knew. He loved me even with my “dis

CLAIRE FISCHERTURNING AWAY SHARPLY, I clamped my hand over my mouth as a wave of dizziness and nausea washed over me.The man I had dedicated majority of my life and future to was in a cabin and he was with my best-friend. Logan and Fiona were all I had after my father. They were in a hidden cabin, I watched Logan bend Fiona over and thump into her rhythmically as she moaned loudly. I watched his back arch tightly as he came inside her. He hung his head and suckled on her neck, she still moved, grinding underneath him until he sighed and rolled away, sexually spent. His eyes widened in shock when he saw me and he jumped to his feet.“Logan!” I could not stop the pain that seared through my heart the more I stood there. He turned sharply. His eyes widened in shock when he saw me.“Fiona…” I said in a small cracking voice. This was my best friend. My confidante. The only person who did not treat me with indifference or even pure hate. I told her everything that was going on in my life,

CLAIRE FISCHERI LOOKED AROUND the hall. Although most of the people were smiling at Logan and Fiona, I still saw some hated gazes directed my way. Thanks to my mother, I had gone from pack hero to the rubbish of the pack, all in under a minute. It was my worst nightmare. I looked up at Logan and Fiona. They were smiling at each other. It was like I was no longer existing.I suddenly remembered all the nights my mother would invite Fiona to what was supposed to be a family dinner. My mother was always nice and caring to Fiona, I usually overlooked it, but now, I understand it now. But, my brows drew together in a frown, why did she wait all these times before she said anything? Why is she saying it now when Dad is dead? Was there something he did not know? A family secret of some sort? I was determined to -“A wolfless mutt has no place here,” a man snarled at me, breaking into my train of thought. “Your place is with humans or lower than an omega here. Everyone was sleeping, so I did not meet anyone as I hurried to Bruce's cabin. I went around the house and knocked on his window as quietly as I could.I heard him grunt and mutter something inaudible as he opened the window. “Claire?” he asked sleepily. “What are you doing here?”“Can I come in?” I asked.“Yes, sure,” he rubbed his neck. “Let me just go and open the -” I climbed in the window. “What are you doing here?”“I came to tell you, yes!” I said in excitement.“Yes… to what?” He frowned.“I know this is not a good time,” I said, keeping my breaths steady. “But yes. THE LONELINESS was the first thing that hit me after I had been running in the woods for almost a day. My feet hurt and I was sure blisters were forming already. As a human, I was not accustomed to being in the wild.I was sure I was out of my father's pack territory, but I could not be sure because I didn’t have a wolf spirit that bound me to the lands. Thinking of the past 18 hours and the multiple betrayals I was served still made my heart thud painfully.I swallowed in a pitiful attempt to dry my parched throat. It was a bad idea to leave without even carrying a water bottle. I sucked in this living in the wild alone. I looked at the sky and saw that the sun was going down. Soon, it would be dark, and I was hungry, thirsty, and tired, and I still didn’t know where I was going.I stopped walking to rest my legs and I heard the sound of a flowing river. Leaping in excitement, I immediately followed the sound until I came across a clear stream. I crouched in the shallow parts and scoo

"She just left for no reason.""I am glad she did," Alek said. "If she had remained here, I would never have met her." He took Claire's hand.Ruth's lips downturned as she saw the affection between Claire and Alek."I left for good reasons," Claire said. "You know, with everything that happened, it was too much for me to remain.""You mean, your fiance dumping you for your more prettier sister?" Ruth asked."Ruth..." Logan muttered. "Then Darius will be here," she replied.Alek coughed out a dry laugh and kissed the back of her neck before walking away to finish dressing up. "It is impolite to be late to an invited dinner." He said to her. "This pack has been anything but polite to us since we came," she replied. "They did not even have our sleeping quarters prepared, I think it is only fair that we return some of their energy." Alek snorted and gave a final look at his outfit in the mirror before extending a hand to Claire. "Let's go before the meals are cold."She took his hand and together, they walked out of the cabin, immediately

"Don't bother. This room was not needed anyway." I turned and went to the sitting room. "Have your luggage brought and set up in the wardrobe," I said to Darius. He nodded and bowed deeply before walking away to carry out what I just instructed him. "I would expect you to be resting now," Alek said, coming up to stand beside me.I chuckled. "As soon as we are all settled in and the guards have eaten, I will rest.""You might not have the chance," he replied. "Now is the best time to sleep for a few hours.""Not yet, Aleksander," I said. "But I can not stand and watch the rogue that almost killed you go unpunished."I knew it the instant we saw Bastian that Alek would have something to say."You know that my mother is originally behind the attack," I replied. He nodded. His hands came around my waist and rested firmly on my belly. "I know your mother is," he said from behind. "But she is untouchable for now. You will deal with her later on. Not the rogue though, he is in no way connected to you. Except as a constant threat.""What are you going to do to him?" I asked, turning around and putting my hands over his shoulders."You don't need to know," he said to me. "But he will be duly punished. Is that okay?"I nodded. He leaned down and kissed me gently. LOGAN MILLERLOGAN'S HEART WAS pounding like he just run a marathon, and he was almost out of breath as he watched Claire sweep out of the room. Her presence in the room had been stifling and oppressive and as if that was not enough, her hulk of a husband stood behind her, blocking out the window like an unmovable mountain."What are you going to do?" Bruce asked as Claire walked out.Logan snapped out of his thoughts and looked at his Beta. "What do you mean?" He asked with a frown."I mean exactly what I'm saying," Bruce said. "Having Claire here is not a good thing. We both know that. She could start a riot amongst the pack members. And we know the last thing you want is a pack of rebelling members."Logan stood up and walked to the window. He watched as she seemed to be the shining sun amongst the Lycans. They all hovered around her as she walked down the street. "She's going to visit with her father." He said."Are you listening to what I'm saying?" Bruce asked impatiently."She
