CLAIRE FISCHER
TURNING AWAY SHARPLY, I clamped my hand over my mouth as a wave of dizziness and nausea washed over me.
The man I had dedicated majority of my life and future to was in a cabin and he was with my best-friend. Logan and Fiona were all I had after my father.
They were in a hidden cabin, I watched Logan bend Fiona over and thump into her rhythmically as she moaned loudly. I watched his back arch tightly as he came inside her. He hung his head and suckled on her neck, she still moved, grinding underneath him until he sighed and rolled away, sexually spent. His eyes widened in shock when he saw me and he jumped to his feet.
“Logan!” I could not stop the pain that seared through my heart the more I stood there.
He turned sharply. His eyes widened in shock when he saw me.
“Fiona…” I said in a small cracking voice. This was my best friend. My confidante. The only person who did not treat me with indifference or even pure hate. I told her everything that was going on in my life, I was looking forward to telling her about how Alpha Olsson had hit on me. She even knew about my anticipation to get married to Logan, and she seemed genuinely happy for me… How could I have known that she was a slithering snake, fucking my fiancé behind my back?
“Fiona…” I repeated, not knowing what else to say. She scrambled out of the bed, dragging a thin sheet over her breasts in fake modesty.
“Claire,” she gasped. “I was not expecting to see you.” She smoothened her shabby hair with her hand.
“Of course you were not!” I snapped. “While I buried my father… you were busy… fucking my fiancé!”
“It is not like that…” she said. “This was…” her voice trailed off.
I looked at Logan. He was standing to the side, all naked. His cock was semi-erect and throbbing with blood like he could not wait for me to leave so he could continue what they were doing. “And you!” I snapped. I could feel more tears coming up to my eyes, but I was determined not to let them feel even as my eyes stung painfully. “You were supposed to be with me at the funeral!”
He scoffed. “When I could be doing something else I enjoy? I don’t think so.”
“How could you?” I cried. “We are going to be mated soon…”
He chuckled. “You are deluded, my dear Claire.” He looked at me. “I could never get mated to you. I never loved you… just the alpha title that came with you. That was what I was after, and now, I will get it and marry who I truly love.” He pulled Fiona closer, smacked her butt, and gave her a very deep kiss. Tongue and all.
I closed my eyes and turned my head away, but I knew that image was forever engrained in my head and would haunt me.
“I want you to get out now,” he approached me, gripping my upper arm tightly and jacking me out of the cabin. “Fiona and I have some unfinished business.” He tossed me to the floor. “And when I become the alpha, wolf-less mutts like you are going to be in their place…” He slapped me before slamming the door. A few seconds later, the moans resumed.
Dazed like it was all a dream, I gathered myself from the floor. My body and mind were numb as I made my way back to the pack house. A place I had been told twice now since my father’s death that would not be my home for much longer.
My mother was still in the kitchen, sipping her cup of coffee. She looked up at me as I walked in. Her eyes brightened and a smirk appeared on her face as she took in my disheveled look. “You are back, I see.” She said sarcastically.
Choosing to ignore her, I went to my room and collapsed on my bed. I felt the world crashing around me, and my heart squeezed painfully in my chest. I grasped my chest and tried to slow my breaths but it was too late as darkness enveloped me and my room tilted as i collasped
I SLOWLY CAME awake and found myself lying on the floor at an awkward angle. I rubbed my eyes and felt a nasty bump where I had hit my head. Sucking in a breath to stifle the pain, I looked at my bedside clock and noted that I had been out for almost 4 hours.
The last rites! I gasped and hurried up, but I slowed down, leaning on the doorframe as a strong wave of dizziness overcame me.
When I got to the pack hall, it was already in full.
“Oh goddess,” I muttered under my breath as I walked in. “I missed it.” I saw that the alpha chair was still left empty. But Logan and my mother sat just beside it. Our eyes met and Logan flashed me a wide grin. I saw Fiona standing behind him. She did not meet my eye.
I pushed through the crowd until I got to the front. Swallowing the lump that immediately formed in my throat, I took a glass of wine and raised it. “To my father. One of the best alphas this pack has ever seen and the only one of his kind.”
“Hear, hear!” The pack cheered and drank to my toast.
I gave a triumphant look to Logan. The pack was behind me and they supported me.
My mother stood up and I had a deep sinking feeling. “To the future alpha,” she gave another toast and the pack cheered again and drank. When they quietened down, she said, “An alpha, who would be strong enough, to lead us with his strong Luna.”
Heads bobbed up and down in agreement.
“My… daughter here,” she stepped down and placed a hand on my shoulder, but there was nothing warm about the gesture. “… is a wolfless mutt. And what use is a wolfless person to us?”
I watched in despair as their faces turned in disgust towards me.
“But that is not a bother to me, or to any of us because the wolfless mutt is not my only child.” My mother said. “I have another daughter. One that is blessed with a very strong wolf spirit.”
That was an even bigger shock to me. I had a sister? I had spent my entire life believing that I was an only child.
“Fiona, come forward,” my mother said.
I felt my knees go weak, and I grasped onto a pillar.
“This is my daughter,” she took Fiona's hand and smiled warmly. “And she will rule with Logan as Alpha.” The pack cheered again in support as I was swallowed with forlorn hopelessness, struggling to believe that Fiona had taken both my man and my pack.
CLAIRE FISCHERI LOOKED AROUND the hall. Although most of the people were smiling at Logan and Fiona, I still saw some hated gazes directed my way. Thanks to my mother, I had gone from pack hero to the rubbish of the pack, all in under a minute. It was my worst nightmare. I looked up at Logan and Fiona. They were smiling at each other. It was like I was no longer existing.I suddenly remembered all the nights my mother would invite Fiona to what was supposed to be a family dinner. My mother was always nice and caring to Fiona, I usually overlooked it, but now, I understand it now. But, my brows drew together in a frown, why did she wait all these times before she said anything? Why is she saying it now when Dad is dead? Was there something he did not know? A family secret of some sort? I was determined to -“A wolfless mutt has no place here,” a man snarled at me, breaking into my train of thought. “Your place is with humans or lower than an omega here. That is where you should be.”H
CLAIRE FISCHERLATER AT NIGHT, as I lay down on my bed, I decided that I was going to get married to Bruce, and I wanted to tell him so. I slid out of bed and sneaked down the stairs. Everyone was sleeping, so I did not meet anyone as I hurried to Bruce's cabin. I went around the house and knocked on his window as quietly as I could.I heard him grunt and mutter something inaudible as he opened the window. “Claire?” he asked sleepily. “What are you doing here?”“Can I come in?” I asked.“Yes, sure,” he rubbed his neck. “Let me just go and open the -” I climbed in the window. “What are you doing here?”“I came to tell you, yes!” I said in excitement.“Yes… to what?” He frowned.“I know this is not a good time,” I said, keeping my breaths steady. “But yes. Yes, I will marry you.”His eyes widened in surprise. “You do?”I nodded. “I do.”He grinned and stepped closer to me. “You do?” he asked, slipping his arms around me and pulling me closer.“I do,” I nodded, giggling. He kissed me soft
THE LONELINESS was the first thing that hit me after I had been running in the woods for almost a day. My feet hurt and I was sure blisters were forming already. As a human, I was not accustomed to being in the wild.I was sure I was out of my father's pack territory, but I could not be sure because I didn’t have a wolf spirit that bound me to the lands. Thinking of the past 18 hours and the multiple betrayals I was served still made my heart thud painfully.I swallowed in a pitiful attempt to dry my parched throat. It was a bad idea to leave without even carrying a water bottle. I sucked in this living in the wild alone. I looked at the sky and saw that the sun was going down. Soon, it would be dark, and I was hungry, thirsty, and tired, and I still didn’t know where I was going.I stopped walking to rest my legs and I heard the sound of a flowing river. Leaping in excitement, I immediately followed the sound until I came across a clear stream. I crouched in the shallow parts and scoo
ALEXANDER VON SINCLAIRALEXANDER PACED THE length of his office angrily. His body itched, and that reflected in his mood. In the far corner of his office and shrouded by slight darkness, his brother, Joram Von Sinclair, sat lounging lazily on a couch with a cup of whiskey in hand.Alexander cast a long look at Joram, then he scoffed and walked to the window, looking out at the dusk of the city’s skyline. His office was located on one of the tallest skyscrapers in the commercial district of town, so even though time was far gone, he could still see the last winks of the sunset.“You know that your pacing isn’t helping,” Joram said coolly from where he sat.Alexander looked at his brother, fighting the primal urge to throw him from the window. He scoffed and turned away before he gave in to his primal instinct.Joram stood up and walked towards Alex. “Whiskey takes the edge off,” he said, stretching out his hand.Alex gave a disgruntled look at the glass for a long second, then he colle
ALEXANDER VON SINCLAIRHE HAD NO idea why he was cutting through the woods. His beast seemed to be controlling him without actually controlling him. His eyes glowed amber in the stark darkness, and the night was silent, but he felt very comfortable. After all, as a Lycan, this was his natural habitat – in the wild, alone, and most likely hunting prey, which could be another animal… or a human. He suddenly burst through a thick shroud of thorny bushes and came upon a scene that made his blood boil with rage. A young woman was on the floor, surrounded by about 4 men; he could not count them as his eyes were blinded with bloodlust. He punched the man on top of the woman; his hand went through and gripped the man's still beating heart. He squeezed and pulled it out as the man slumped forward, falling heavily on the woman beneath him.“Werewolves,” he growled as the stench of the blood hit his nostrils. Then Alex swung around and caught the man closest to him by the neck, and with a small
CLAIRE FISCHER MY LEGS TREMBLED with fear as we marched along the small dirt path. The night was dark and the woods were even darker, but these strange people seemed to be one with the surroundings, like they had lived here all their lives. And maybe they had. Had I stumbled into the midst of a secret pack? I asked myself. I closed my eyes, trying to remember my geography classes, and wishing I had paid more attention as I tried to figure out where I was. There was not supposed to be a pack nearby… my foot caught on a shrub and I stumbled forward, unable to catch myself as I fell into the dirt. “Get up!” the man holding the end of my rope snarled. The group stopped moving as they looked back. “Get up!” the man tugged on the rope again. I tried to stand up, but I was weak. I had not eaten anything in almost two days. They parted as the man I took to be their leader approached me. His eyes glinted bright red in the darkness as he looked down at me. “What is going on?” he asked. His
ALEKANDER VON SINCLAIR“WHAT ARE YOU planning to do with her?” Joram asked Alex as he watched the guard drag the prisoner girl away.“I don’t have to explain myself to you,” Alex replied.“she should be taken to the dungeon,” Joram argued as they walked to a hall beside the mansion. “not your chambers.”Alex scoffed. “I don’t expect you to be the one judging me, brother.”“I am not,” Joram sighed. “But a few hours ago, your Lucia called, and you just told me that you were not interested in that tonight,” he pushed and held the door open. “And after this meeting, you are going to -”Alex stopped abruptly and looked at Joram. “You are judging, brother.” He said coolly. “Do you want her for yourself?” he cocked his head. “Is that what this is all about? You want her, and you do not want to share.”Joram's face twisted in disgust. “Gross.” He rubbed his eyes. “I do not want to fuck your prisoner. She is yours to do as you wish.”There was a vague smile on Alex's face as he turned away. “W
ALEXANDER VON SINCLAIRALEX WAS BOILING as he stormed out of the Senate hall and walked down the street. The pack – no, the clan, was deathly silent. There was even no buzzing of night bugs or insects. As Alek went towards the pack mansion, he cooled down a bit, and he became a bit more logical. He knew he was overreacting, but his ego would not let him admit it to himself. He knew he did not have much right coming here like a bull in a china shop, smashing anything in his path as he took over the clan that he had left unattended to in over half a century.“I am beginning to sound like my brother,” he muttered as he pushed the door open. “I have been spending too much time with him.” He saw Nonna coming down the stairs slowly. He walked up to her and tried to help her down.“What have you done, child?” She asked, looking at his bloodied hand. “Don’t worry about it, Nonna.” He said, trying to wipe the blood with a pocket napkin.“It is Marshall, is it not?” she asked. “I knew that one’
CLAIRE VON SINCLAIRLOGAN KNOCKED ON the door of a small apartment and pushed the door open."It doesn't sound like she's in," he said as we entered. The house was small, dark and had a pungent smell in the air."Why is the place like this?" I asked."I could not have her remain in the pack house," Logan answered. "She was... unbearable." I nodded. I understood him too well. I lived all my life with the woman so I knew how controlling she could be. "I will send someone here to clean and air the place out.""Thank you," I said under my breath. I frowned and opened the curtain closest to me, letting the rays come in. "Where is she?" I asked myself."Claire, here," Logan called out to me.I hurried to meet him in another room. My mother was on the bed, sleeping. Why was she still sleeping by this time?Logan cleared his voice loudly and she woke up groggily. Her eyes were red and inflamed like she had been crying."Ruth, are you alright?" Logan asked. Even he was concerned about her."I
CLAIRE VON SINCLAIR"OH, THE MOST loved and feared Princess, Luna Claire graces us with her presence," Fiona said. Her voice dripped with angry sarcasm."It is nice to see you too, sister," I muttered, walking past her."There is nothing for breakfast," she snarled. "Your arrival excited the cooks and suddenly, they are going on strike.""How is that my fault?" I asked. "You are not doing your duty as Luna.""I'm sure you would know that," she snapped. "You were trained to be the perfect Alpha, and I was just ignored.""That doesn't matter, Fiona," I said. "What matters now is that you are the Luan, and you are letting the pack down.""That is not my concern," she muttered. "The only thing that is my concern is that I am the Luna.""It would not be such a good position to be when the pack revolts against you" I grabbed her hand and pulled her closer. Staring into her eyes."You don't know what you are talking about," Fiona replied. "You are dumb here, okay?"I cocked my head and look
CLAIRE VON SINCLAIRI WOKE UP slowly and the first thing I did was to take a deep breath. The air was just like my father's pack and it took me back to my childhood. I opened my eyes and realized that I was actually back in my father's pack. I turned to my side, Alek was still sleeping soundly and snoring a little.I smiled wide and pressed a kiss on his cheek before I got out of bed. I put on a thicker robe and went outside."Good morning, Luna," Darius greeted. "Did you sleep well?"I nodded, knotting the belt around my waist. "I did." I sat down on the wooden porch, looking at the sky and watching the sunrise. "Were you on guard all night?" I asked. He hesitated for a second, then he said, "I was on patrol for the night, Luna."I cocked my head and looked at him, he avoided my gaze but I did not think much of it. I took in a deep breath again, holding it in and listening to the singing birds in the distance. "It feels so good to be back," I muttered."You don't hold any resentment
ALEKSANDER VON SINCLAIRHE WALKED OUT of the house silently and closed the door behind him, taking extra care not to make any noise."What is going on, Aleksander?"He turned and saw that it was Darius."Don't you sleep?" He muttered, adjusting his coat as he walked down the porch."I am on duty to stay awake tonight," Darius said, walking in step with Alek. "Where are you going? Where is the Luna?""Claire is sleeping," Alek said. "And I would like it if she doesn't wake before I am back. So I need to handle this quickly." He pinned a hard gaze on Darius, who remained unfazed. "Are you going to see someone you should not be?" Darius asked. "I saw the way the lady Fiona looked at you. Are you going to -"Alek snorted and pushed past Darius. "It is crazy for you to think I would betray Claire in such a way." He muttered."Then where are you going?" Darius asked."Come with me and see," Alek muttered. They walked in silence, each man deep in his thoughts."I never doubted your loyalty
ALEKSANDER VON SINCLAIR"SO CLAIRE, DO tell us," Ruth said. "Where did you give after you ran away from the pack?"Fiona snickered."She did not need to leave, you see," Ruth said, looking at Alek. "She just left for no reason.""I am glad she did," Alek said. "If she had remained here, I would never have met her." He took Claire's hand.Ruth's lips downturned as she saw the affection between Claire and Alek."I left for good reasons," Claire said. "You know, with everything that happened, it was too much for me to remain.""You mean, your fiance dumping you for your more prettier sister?" Ruth asked."Ruth..." Logan muttered. His eyes flashed from Alek to Claire apologetically.Claire waved it aside. "That was one of the things, yes." She nodded. "But I must say, I thank her for it. I got an upgrade. No offense, Logan."He nodded. "No offense taken.""So when I left the pack, Alek found me in the woods, lost," Claire said.Fiona frowned. "Alex?" She asked. "Your name is Alex? Alexand
ALEKSANDER VON SINCLAIR"FOR SOMEONE WHO has had many death threats from here, you look very relaxed," Alek said as he helped Claire with the necklace he had gifted to her a few weeks ago."I am relaxed because I know no harm can come to me as long as you are here," she said, leaning into his touch."And what if I'm not here," he asked, brushing his finger across her smooth skin. "Then Darius will be here," she replied.Alek coughed out a dry laugh and kissed the back of her neck before walking away to finish dressing up. "It is impolite to be late to an invited dinner." He said to her. "This pack has been anything but polite to us since we came," she replied. "They did not even have our sleeping quarters prepared, I think it is only fair that we return some of their energy." Alek snorted and gave a final look at his outfit in the mirror before extending a hand to Claire. "Let's go before the meals are cold."She took his hand and together, they walked out of the cabin, immediately
CLAIRE VON SINCLAIRONE OF MY men cleaned up the room Fiona had broken into. They removed the shattered glass and wrapped up the window."I guess no one will be sleeping in this room," I muttered as I looked at them."You can have our own cabin, Luna," the guard said.I shook my head. "Don't bother. This room was not needed anyway." I turned and went to the sitting room. "Have your luggage brought and set up in the wardrobe," I said to Darius. He nodded and bowed deeply before walking away to carry out what I just instructed him. "I would expect you to be resting now," Alek said, coming up to stand beside me.I chuckled. "As soon as we are all settled in and the guards have eaten, I will rest.""You might not have the chance," he replied. "Now is the best time to sleep for a few hours.""Not yet, Aleksander," I said. I pushed past him as Darius came in carrying some of our bags. He was followed by some other guards. "I will show you where to put all these."Alek groaned and sat down
CLAIRE VON SINCLAIR"I KNOW I promised not to interfere," Alek said in a low whisper. "But I can not stand and watch the rogue that almost killed you go unpunished."I knew it the instant we saw Bastian that Alek would have something to say."You know that my mother is originally behind the attack," I replied. He nodded. His hands came around my waist and rested firmly on my belly. "I know your mother is," he said from behind. "But she is untouchable for now. You will deal with her later on. Not the rogue though, he is in no way connected to you. Except as a constant threat.""What are you going to do to him?" I asked, turning around and putting my hands over his shoulders."You don't need to know," he said to me. "But he will be duly punished. Is that okay?"I nodded. He leaned down and kissed me gently. "Are you sure you're okay?" He asked. "I know it can't be easy for you to be here, considering the history you have with the pack.""I am okay," I reassured."Make sure you rest," He
LOGAN MILLERLOGAN'S HEART WAS pounding like he just run a marathon, and he was almost out of breath as he watched Claire sweep out of the room. Her presence in the room had been stifling and oppressive and as if that was not enough, her hulk of a husband stood behind her, blocking out the window like an unmovable mountain."What are you going to do?" Bruce asked as Claire walked out.Logan snapped out of his thoughts and looked at his Beta. "What do you mean?" He asked with a frown."I mean exactly what I'm saying," Bruce said. "Having Claire here is not a good thing. We both know that. She could start a riot amongst the pack members. And we know the last thing you want is a pack of rebelling members."Logan stood up and walked to the window. He watched as she seemed to be the shining sun amongst the Lycans. They all hovered around her as she walked down the street. "She's going to visit with her father." He said."Are you listening to what I'm saying?" Bruce asked impatiently."She
