I made it through the day without breaking down or letting Tamaska do what she really wanted to do to Trevor and Shana. I probably shouldn’t be mad at Shana; she may not even know that I am Trevor’s mate. I have noticed her looking at me throughout the day as I glared at the two of them, but then again, all nine of us have been glaring at them, so it may not be easy for her to guess who his true mate is. I choose not to worry about that now. I’m just counting down the hours before we get to hang out, drink a little, and enjoy a night of poetry and jazz.
I meet up with the girls before we all go to our individual homes. The anticipation of getting out and away from the craziness has made my day go by faster and easier.“Hey guys, are we still on for Jazzy’s tonight?” I ask.
Yes, I need to wind down. It’s been a while since we have been there. I wonder who will share their vibes tonight.” Rose says.&ldThis chapter contains an original poem written specifically for Seleste.
As I’m walking to my seat, the audience is going crazy. Jazzy says, “I told you we were in for a treat. Just like always. Seleste does not disappoint. Thank you for gracing us tonight, Seleste. Don’t stay away too long next time.”“I won’t. I miss you all when I’m away.” I bow to the audience again and take my seat.“I saw that,” Mona links me so that the others can’t hear what she is saying..“I don’t know what you are talking about”“I saw Trevor drag Shana out of here after you finished the poem. I guess he knew that was written for him. I guess the truth hurts. I loved it.”“Thanks, Mona,” I say.“Wow Seleste,” Talia says, “I don’t know who you were talking to up there, but girl, that was nothing but the truth. Never change who you are for anyone. That’s my girl.”For the rest of the night
“So, mate, what do you want to do tonight? I thought we can go somewhere fun together.” Convel rolled his eyes when I called her mate. I know he does not accept her as his mate, but he has no choice. I have made my decision.‘Hump, we will see how that works out for you.”I don’t even know how he got through the block that I put up for him, but I pushed him further back in my mind. If he does not want to go along with me, he can stay in a small corner of my mind and leave me alone.“Gladly,” He says. “You may as well get used to me not being there. You made sure that soon I won’t be there, anyway.“Well, Trevor, I heard the girls in your group talking about going to this jazz club. It is in neutral territory. It sounds like fun and I would really like to go. I think the girls were planning to go, at least that’s what they were saying. It may be good for them to see us togeth
After I left Seleste, I just drove around for hours. I parked and went to my quiet spot in the woods, but it did not have the same calming effect it usually had. I can’t explain it, but ever since I rejected Seleste in this spot, it feels depressing to be here. The moon used to shine the brightest in this spot, but the moonlight has become dull here. I came here for peace, but peace did not find me here. There is so much going on in my head. Convel is mad at me. I snapped at Shana for no real reason. All because she tried to stick up for Seleste. My friends are avoiding me. I don’t know how it got to this point. This is all Seleste’s fault. Why did the moon goddess pair me with her? Why couldn’t she be different? Things would be like this if she was the type of mate that I needed. Then I would not have rejected her. My friends wouldn’t be mad at me and we would all be happy. “Trevor, this is messed up thinking, even for you,” Convel says. “How can you blame mate
My mom just woke me up. I slept for most of the day. Now there are only a couple of hours before the party gets started. I check my phone. I’m surprised that the guys have not tried to call me today. It’s Ben’s birthday. We usually hang out on each other’s birthday. I thought we would have done lunch together or something. Maybe I should call him and see what he is doing.“Hi, Ben, happy birthday. Tell Rose I said happy birthday as well.” I say when he answers the phone.“Thanks, man. Can you believe I’m 18 now?” Ben says excitedly.“So have you discovered your mate yet?”“Actually, I have and it was amazing. It is the best feeling in the world. I cannot describe how happy I am and how much in love I am in such a short time. There is nothing better than being with my mate. She is the most beautiful female in the world.”He talked for a couple of minutes about how wonderfu
It’s the morning of my birthday. This year, it’s a little bittersweet. We are having the big birthday party to celebrate all ten of us born within days of each other. It has been a tradition for us to have a pack wide party every year since we were all 1 year old. I used to look forward to this party every year. It is like a holiday for our pack. It is a celebration of the next generation of leaders for the pack, a sort of celebration of continuity. There has always been some sort of celebration for every generation since the pack began. So why is it bittersweet? Because I know this year will be different. Trevor will take this opportunity to pay me back for the offense he imagined. I really don’t know what Trevor’s issue is anymore. This goes beyond our training match. It seems like he actually hates me and does not want me in this pack anymore. Honestly, I am ready to move on to a pack that will appreciate the blessing having me in their pack brings. A real
Nathan comes in and asks Eli what all the excitement is about. Eli gives him the good news about Ben and Mona. He is also happy for the pair. Nathan lets us know that Sam and Drew will be here in a little while. Sam and Drew are skilled trackers. They left Thursday morning to go on a tracking mission for the council. They were looking for a possibly rogue leader who has been stirring up trouble in the kingdom. Other trackers have tried to find him, but he kept slipping away. Sam and Drew are the most skilled trackers and hunters we have in the kingdom. They are also distant relatives of mine. They are on my mother’s side. I think their great grandfather and my great grandfather were cousins. They are also distant relatives of Fenroe. Yes, if you are thinking that my mother is also a descendent of Fenroe, you are correct. That’s what makes me a pure-blood descendent. My father is a direct descendent. Fenroe was his great (I don’t know how many greats) grandfather. Fenroe was a great
When Shana and I arrive at the party, everything is in full swing. I see my nine friends all sitting at one big table. It’s the same every year. Since all of our birthdays as so close, we also sit at the table of honor. I take Shana’s hand and slowly walk her to our table. I see Ben sitting between Mona and Seleste. Ben’s attention is focused on Mona. You can see the love between the two of them. They remind me of my parents. Speaking of which, I need to introduce them to Shana. I make a quick detour on the way to our table. My mom and dad are sitting with Ben’s parents and Seleste’s parents. I forgot how close the three families are. “Mom, dad, Mr. and Mrs. Jackson, Mr. and Mrs. True, let me introduce my mate, Shana Stevens. Shana, this is my mom and dad, the beta couple and the gamma couple.” “Hi everyone,” Shana says shyly. “Hi Shana,” my mom says. “We have been eager to meet you. You look lovely tonight.” “Thank you, Luna. You look lovely yourself
My mom and I spend the rest of the morning pampering ourselves. We get Mani and Pedi at the pack’s nail shop. We went to lunch at our favorite dive. My mom and I share a love of good burgers. My mom got a mushroom Swiss burger with bacon added. I got a cheddar bacon burger with crispy onion on top of the burger. It’s made with one beef and one pork patty. It’s not the healthiest lunch, but we enjoyed it, we don’t eat like this every day, but it is good to treat yourself every now and then. After lunch got deep massages to help us relax. We also get primed and waxed. We are flawless and silky smooth for the night. Spending the day with my mom like this was perfect. She knew that I needed to just relax and not think about tonight. We just went with the flow of things and did not talk about mates, birthdays, or the big party. After our massages, we went back to our house.“Thanks, mom. I really needed this pampering day.”“You&rsq
