I am a true pureblood Gamma. I come from ten generations of Gammas. To most people, that means nothing. To me, it means everything. I am a warrior. I was born to be a warrior like my father and mother, their fathers and mothers, and so on, as far back as 10 generations. My bloodline is pure. Our warrior gene is one of the strongest in the werewolf kingdom. My family has been the Gamma couple and lead warriors since the pack was founded over 1000 years ago. At seventeen, I am one of the strongest wolves in our pack. I can already win against fully grown wolves, both male and female. So far, my parents and the Alpha are the only ones who have won against me. The Beta and I are pretty even. Though I lose against him more than I win. Most members of the pack are proud of my strength and know that I will always use my strength to protect and train my pack.

The future alpha does not like that I am more skilled and possibly stronger than him, especially since I am a female, better known as a “she-wolf”.  My wolf and I think he should get over himself. I am who I am, and I am proud of it. My name is Seleste, future Gamma of the Blue Moon pack, the youngest lead warrior in the history of our pack, and assistant warrior trainer. I am a part of our pack’s elite forces known as the Elite 12.  I am one of the first and youngest females to become part of the elite forces. My grandmother was the first female member of the Elite 12 and my mother was the second.

I was born with the symbol of the protector on my shoulder. It’s a crescent moon with a star in the center. What most people don’t know is that my family are direct descendants of Fenroe, the original Gamma. He was the first protector and one of the original werewolves created by the moon goddess. My grandmother told me the history of our family on my twelfth birthday when she passed down the Crescent Moon pendant, which is usually passed down to the firstborn of every generation. For our generation, that’s me. I was born one day before my cousin Mona.

According to the history passed down by my grandmother, the moon goddess initially created six werewolves; three mate pairs. They were her representatives in the supernatural community. All six wolves were alpha wolves with unmatched skills and strength. Each couple had a specific task to perform. The moon goddess tasked one pair with planning and overseeing her agenda on the earth; one couple were master negotiators, hunters, and trackers; and my ancestors Fenroe and Tomyris were the warriors and protectors of all were kind. Fenroe bore the original protector symbol. The supernatural council called him whenever there was trouble or a threat to the supernatural community. As the werewolf community grew, the original pack was formed. Although the original six were all dominant wolves and were not subject to each other, they shared the management of the pack by assigning different duties based on their skill set. The couple that was the overseers; Rommel and Zenobia became the alpha couple and the negotiator and hunter; Takeko and Nakando became the beta couple. Over time, the moon goddess created more packs, sending the ancestors of the original wolves to different areas and packs to keep the werewolf kingdom strong and diverse. The ancestors of the originals have the same strength and skills as their ancestors. Their wolves could also be considered alpha wolves, though the beta and gamma families choose to stay true to their heritage. My great, great (well, I don’t remember how many greats) grandfather connected with the alpha of the Blue moon pack over a millennium ago and helped him from this pack. Since the beginning, my family, the alpha family, and the beta family have remained closed. We are the foundation of this pack. All three families committed to continuing to serve the pack together. To date, neither family has broken that commitment. We have always chosen to stay loyal and submit to the alpha family.

The role of the protector has remained with my family. Traditionally, the firstborn child of every other generation becomes the protector at the death of the previous one. The current protector trains the future one when they turn 12 years old or have their first shift. All protectors have a birthmark on their left shoulder to show their status. My grandmother was the previously chosen protector. The role now falls to me. So far, the council has not called me, but I am well prepared. The protectors have several roles in the werewolf community, as well as in the pack. We serve as Gamma, Lead Warrior, and trainer.

I am now the assistant trainer for the Blue Moon pack. The alpha chose me because I study different combat forms. Over the last five summers, I have traveled to different packs and trained with their elite warriors. I have also trained with many human combat masters. I take my role as Gamma and protector seriously. You can say it’s my destiny. For now, I train self-defense to the pups who have not shifted yet and advance combat to the high-ranking warriors. I love what I do. I want to make sure that my pack is the best trained one in the country. The alpha recently spoke with my parents and me about my training some of the smaller packs in our state. This will be a great opportunity to meet more people and possibly my mate if he is not a part of my pack. I hope my mate will be another Gamma or an elite warrior.

We are a warrior pack. We train hard and are always learning and developing our fighting skills. I have been sparring with Beta Vereen since I was 12 years old. I have not had a clear win against him since he taught me how to do hand-to-hand combat. Today, we are introducing some new moves I picked up while training with a pack in Asia. Beta Vereen volunteered to be my partner for today. It turns out to be a full challenge between the two of us. Beta Vereen is the best fighter after my parents, so everyone loves to see us training together. This is the first time we’ve challenged each other in a couple of years. Beta Vereen has been pushing me to accept challenges again. I have focused more on the teaching side of training over the last year. Since my match with Trevor, I have avoided sparring with anyone other than one of the Elite 12. With the Elite 12, I am free to be myself and not worry about being judged for showing my skill. I know the alpha and Beta Vereen worry about me and try to push me every chance they get.

“Come on Seleste, focus!” Beta Vereen yells at me.

“Sorry Beta. I’m ready.” I answer, shaking off his last hit.

Seleste. I’m not Trevor. I can take a loss if you can give me one.” Beta Vereen links with an understanding nod.

Beta Vereen and I talked about how I have been hesitant to fight other ranked wolves outside of the Elite 12 after what happened with the future alpha. I don’t want to make any more enemies because I’m blessed with superb fighting skills.

ok Beta, remember when you get your ass handed to you, you asked for it.”

We get back in our fighting stands and... add another win to my list.

Yes, I put the Beta on his butt this morning.

“Good job Seleste. Just like I taught you, wait, watch and execute. Wait for the opening. Watch for a tell or weakness, then execute your advantage. Now you can say you have finally bested me in a challenge. I’m so proud of you. Remember, you don’t have to dial down your skill for anyone. Just be who the goddess made you. Now go get ready for school.”

“Thanks, Beta Vereen,” I say as I grab my water bottle and head to our home.

The members of the Elite 12 and my circle of friends; well at least nine of them were there cheering me on.

“Congratulations Seleste. You were awesome. I loved the way you put my dad on his butt. Where did you learn that tricky move from where you slid under him and jumped over his back to trip him?” Ben asked.

“That was a little something I picked up during one of my summer trips,” I answered.

“I hope that particular move will be added to the advanced combat training.” Timothy, one of the Elite 12, stated.

“I guess I can add that move and a couple of others that I have not pulled out for you all yet.”

I love that my fellow warriors are excited about learning new techniques. Tamaska is so proud of the attention and praise that we get from the warriors. She is literally running through my mind doing her little happy dance. This was the first time we had a decisive win against the Beta Vereen.

My mom and dad greet me as I come in to get ready for school.

“We heard about your win today.” My dad says. “We are so proud of you. Your grandmother would be over the moon that her grandbaby beat the unbeatable Beta.”

“Thanks, dad. I really miss my grandmother. I wish she could see how much progress I have made.’

“Oh honey, she is up there with the moon goddess and our ancestors watching over her baby girl smiling and bragging.” My mom says while hugging me.

“Now go shower. You smell,” my mom says.

I grab an apple and run upstairs to my room.

“Seleste, are you ready yet? We’re going to be late for school. You know how Mr. Simms gets when we are late for first period.” Talia yells up the stairs. “Coming, Talia,” I yell, while running downstairs. “Seriously Seleste, I don’t know why you take so long to get ready for school? You don’t even wear makeup,” says Talia, rolling her eyes. “Really Talia, I have to shower after training, then get ready. I know you don’t want to ride in the car with me all sweaty. Come on, let’s go. Don’t want to be late.” I say, smirking at Talia. “Bye, mom and dad. See you all later.” “Bye girls,” my parents yell. Talia and I leave the house. Talia and I have been riding to school since Talia got a new car on her 16th birthday. Most of us got cars that year, but I hate driving. I’m usually too hyped from training to focus on something so small as driving. We made it to school in record time. Talia may or may not have been speeding. First period is not my favorite. Mr. Simms is always tough and

  • Rejected Protector    The Incident

Trevor and I used to be friends. Our parents used to tease us about being mates when we grew up. We used to laugh about it, but all of that changed last year during sparring practice. I have beaten almost everyone that I sparred with, except the alpha and my parents and sometimes the beta. Trevor challenged me once last year since he was an alpha wolf. Trevor thought since I was a gamma wolf and female, he could take me down easily. He prides himself on being the strongest wolf. Initially, I was going to let him win. My mother had told me a while ago about the fragile egos of the males in our pack. Secretly, my mother is stronger than my dad and probably the alpha, but she always gives them a narrow win to keep the peace and balance in the pack. I was going to do the same, I swear I was. I was also going to take this opportunity to help him improve some of his fighting skills. Trevor has a tell when he is fighting. He tends to lead off with his left leg every time he is going to get a

  • Rejected Protector    His Story

I am the future alpha of my pack and I can’t wait to take over from my father. I have been preparing for this my whole life. I had the dream of not only leading my pack by being the strongest wolf in the pack. The alpha is always the strongest wolf, like my father and his father before him. How can I lead if I am not the strongest? I am a pure alpha. Both of my parents have alpha blood. That makes me special. I train hard and have proven myself against most of the warriors in the pack. My father has drilled it in my head that to be alpha, you have to be the best. Our Pack is one of the largest packs in America. We are also high ranking amongst all the other packs. I want to lead our pact to the number one spot. In short, I want our pack to be the best, so I have to be the best. In my father’s words, “to lead the best, you have to be the best.’ For me, being the best means being the strongest. I am an enormous wolf, even for an alpha. I am well built; with 6.5 feet of solid muscle. I t

“Wow, Trevor, did you see how Seleste just took my dad down. She is getting more and more impressive by the day. She truly has earned her position as the head warrior and part of the Elite 12. Can you believe she is one of the youngest members of the Elite 12?” Ben just could not stop singing her praises. “What are you, Ben, president of her fan club now? Okay, so she can fight, big deal. Is she even a she-wolf? No female should be able to fight like that and take down a full-grown beta,” I hissed at Ben. “Hey man, what’s gotten into you? I thought you all used to be the best of friends?” Ben asked. “We were friends, but I don’t need friends like her.” “Dude, she is going to be your Gamma. What is so bad about her? I think she is awesome. She is smart, beautiful inside and out, and incredibly strong. I hope she ends up being my mate.” Ben adds. “You can have her, Ben. I don’t want a mate like that. I want a mate like my mom. Soft, loving, and kind. Not a warrior.” “Um Trevor, you

It’s finally the end of the day and I am so happy to be out of school. Talia, Rose, Mona and I are going to the mall to get outfits for the big pack birthday party. The party is this weekend. It falls on my birthday. I am so excited. We like any excuse to have a party. Eighteen years ago, our pack had a big baby boom. Ten of us were born days apart. Ben, the future beta, and I were born on the same day. The future alpha was born 2 days before us. His birthday is on Thursday. Nathan’s birthday is Friday. Ben, Rose, and my birthday are this Saturday. All the ranked wolves had babies close together. It must have been something in the water that year. The girls and I head to the mall to shop for our dresses for the big birthday party. Every year the party is a major fashion event. Everyone is dressed formally or semi-formally. It’s the one time of the year that the pack gets to see me all dolled up. “Rose, you should try this dress. This shade of blue looks good on you.” I say, holding t

This week is going by so fast. It’s Wednesday already. Tomorrow is my birthday. I’m both excited and terrified about finding my mate. I hope it is Shana, but honestly, I don’t feel a pull toward her. Convel has been fixated on Seleste. I must admit, I do feel a small connection to her. I just have to ignore it and stick to my plan. After Monday night at the diner, I asked Shana out on a date for the next night. I took her to a pleasant restaurant. My prospective mate deserves and expects the best. I hinted to her I may feel a slight pull toward her. We plan to hang out together tomorrow night just to see if she is my mate. I plan to ask her to be my chosen mate if the moon goddess doesn’t do right by me. “You better not,” Convel yells in my head. “I want my mate! No one else will do. If you even think about rejecting my mate for someone else, I will never speak to you again! Convel says. “I don’t care. I am doing what is best for our pack, no matter what. Today was a rough day. I got slightly injured during training. I sparred with one of the Elite 12 today and although I won; he made his presence known. “Come on, Tim, is that all you got? Come at me again,” I yell. Tim runs at me again. I step aside, kick him in the stomach and punch him hard in the face. Tim goes down and out. Another win for me. My dad walks over and looks at me. He is the only one who noticed me flinching. “Let me see Sweet Pea,” my dad says. “Dad, don’t call me that in public. Come on, someone might hear you.” My dad laughs and looks at the bruise forming on my left side. “Well baby girl, Tim got you good. Looks like you have at least two broken ribs and maybe more.” Although I’ll heal quickly, my mom made me stay home today and maybe tomorrow to heal properly. I don’t mind. I’m enjoying the time to myself and Tamaska is being quiet today. Plus, I get to spend a little time with my mom. My mom brought me breakfast in bed. “Are you excited that you get to fin

Today is my birthday. I’ve been walking around the school hoping to smell that wonderful smell of my mate and, so far, nothing. I never even considered that my mate may not be from our pack. I think I have been in contact with almost every she-wolf under 25 in our pack. Shana ended up not being my fated mate After All, but we plan to still hang out tonight; especially since I have not found my fated mate amongst our pack. “I told you she was not our mate, but do you listen? No, you don’t. Instead of planning a date with a random she-wolf, you should look for our mate. Why did I get a human like you!” Convel says in a huff. “Look Convel, I know you want our mate. I want her too, but she may not be in our pack. We may not find her right away or she may not be the right one to be Luna, so I will keep dating Shana until I or she finds our mate.” I hope Convel will see things my way soon and stop fighting with me. Why can’t he understand that I just want to do what’s right for the pack?

Because of who our parents are. Elon and I get to go to the other packs more than the other children, although things will change for us when we start school. School is another whole issue that we may talk about later. All I will say is that it took all of my grandparents begging to convince my parents to allow Elon and me to go to school with the other kids. My parents wanted to keep us on the pack lands and do some kind of home school, which is crazy because our school is a pack school. How would it look if the alpha couple did not trust the pack school to educate their children? Those were the exact words of my

I am one of the most loved and feared wolves of all time. My twin brother and I were blessed by the moon goddess and the archangel Gabriel. From the moment I was born, almost 3 minutes after my twin, I have been told I am special. My family did not realize it at the time, but my brother and I understood what they said about us even before we were born. My twin and I could mind e each other the day we were born. We always assumed it was just a twin thing. Over the years, we have discovered that we are unique and can do things that normal wolves cannot do. My parents have raised us to be levelheaded and grounded. We both will have a lot of responsibility when we are older, and our parents want us to enjoy being pups. Aside from being blessed by the moon and the light, we are descendants of the original gamma and alpha blooded. My brother is already stronger than many full-grown wolves. I have not tested my full strength, but I know I am stronger than all the she-wolves in our pack. I ha

I hope that I as their mother can stir them in the right direction. Everyone has reassured me that Jarvis and I will be great parents. My twins will be showered with love. I’m so glad my parents moved to our pack. They can help me with the twins when I have luna or protector duties. Jarvis’ parents are also very helpful. I just like watching them while they sleep. They are so precious. We still have not figured out what their marks mean. We initially thought their marks were Identical, but they are not. They both have a crescent moon with three stars like mine, but Eliora’s has what looks to be a blade in the middle and Elon's has what looks to be a lightning volt. It’s no

  • Rejected Protector    Happily Ever After

It’s been two years since the supernatural world had what amounted to a civil war orchestrated by pure evil. A lot of good came out of the war. The shifter community is more united and stronger than ever. The groups are no longer separated, well, not completely. Everyone still has their own set of rules and cultures, but we all serve under one king. We all come together yearly for leaders/alphas meeting at the palace. This gives us leaders a chance to network and build or strengthen alliances. It also gives us female warriors a chance to dress and get dolled up. Every year, Rose, Mona, Talia, Lacey, Francis, Violetta and I meet up the week before the conference to go shopping. Not that we need much of an excuse to meet up. We get together as much as possible anyway. Our males like to hang out with each other as well. The circle of ten still meets up as a group at my old pack for our birthday every year. Even though we are all grown and mated, alpha Connor likes to continue the traditi

The war is over. The dark lord has been defeated, but my warriors had to continue fighting mini battles from pockets of rebels who still insisted on fighting the rule of the king. They were no match for our warriors. The king and all of us were tired of needless bloodshed. We remained at the makeshift war tent for a couple of days, coordinating with all the other regions and bringing order. After the third day, we start teleporting warriors back to their region or home group.Queen LaDonna went back to her coven to get all the magics back on track and deal with the remaining dark witches. The decision to allow them to live was a tough one, but it was argued that the fact that they survived a hit from a light weapon showed they were not purely evil. While we didn’t expect them to walk completely in light magic, Queen LaDonna reminded us it is still necessary to have balance in the world. We need some darkness to balance the light. Even if we killed them off, there is nothing to stop ot

While I was training with the king and Queen LaDonna, Jarvis and my dad were mobilizing the rest of the warriors with the new generals of the kingdom. The new generals are none other than Young Trevor and his team from the alpha academy. The goddess did tell me that our destinies have always been intertwined, now I understand how and why. This kingdom has fought wars before, but this is the first time we are battling pure evil. This is the first time mates are fighting side by side. In the past, the warriors were all males and the mate remained home waiting for their mates to return. In this war, the mates are on the frontline fighting together. Some might think that is a disadvantage, but I know it is more of an advantage. There is no power in the world stronger than the power of love. Mate will fight ha
